CurveHost Via this WHT offer. CurveHost is based Kent UK, and on their website you can see UK based VPS hosting starting at $3.99/month. They do however also sell VPS based in US, and the “Bronze” plan is $1 cheaper at $2.99/month. You get

  • 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
  • 50GB storage
  • 1000GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Servers in either Wholesale Internet (Kansas City MO, test IP: 173.208.250.166, Sign up link) or BurstNet EU (Manchester UK, test IP: 46.37.167.150, Sign up link). Domain has been registered since August 2010. Adjacent IP on the name servers. The plan does look very similar to PogiWeb’s that I posted a few days ago. Virpus reseller again?

  1. I knew I recognized this design. This same designed was used for hostlatch/old vpslatch design.

      • Yeah that CUB3R thing. People actually pay to make their own website runs slower, for “3D effects” that add no real value. Never mind, I browse with Flash turned off most of the time anyway.

I browse with flash turned off, website colors turned off with my own colors of green text on black background to reduce eye strain. So the grand designs of most websites are lost on me.

        • I used to but too many sites are poorly designed for those without flash and stuff breaks. Or they don’t give you an alternative to use their site.

I actually for around 2 years now I take great care before jumping into ANY of web hosting site. As I found that in not less than 30% of the time, the browser will crash (even though I use Opera, Firefox, Safari , and IE, each time crash will happen no matter which one I was using!!!). So, to save my work and opened tabs, I tend more to open ANY web hosting site that I don’t know, in another browser other than the one I have tabs open within it. Actually, even sites I know e.g. Burst, I felt scary once when I had to visit their website after several months of not doing so. What I want to add in short, is that web hosts seems to have the worst designs, and the most deadly bugs on the internet.

There aren’t many good UK offers on LEB and 50GB for 3$ no VAT sounds like a good team to me, but I made a rule for myself, so should others, if you see a host with no SSL, don’t buy. They will fail on you sooner or later.

Yes, how they expect us to submit root passwords through insecure forms is beyond me, and most hosts also resend the securely submitted passwords through insecure email right after you click submit. So the entire point of secure submission is lost.

There aren’t many good UK offers on LEB? Huh?!!! Sometimes it’s needed to spend some time to read posted stuff here not just to open site…
LEB is lately full of decent UK VPS deals. Some of them are even above average lowendbox quality/price point of view. Just to mention few with very positive reviews: XenVZ, VooServers, Evorack…

It’s been well over 24 hours with no word back from them. I guess I should have known better. Considering they’re apparently not enabling accounts (the only testimonial I’ve found from anyone who has gotten anything for their money is “G”‘s above; no reviews anywhere else on the internet), I think maybe LEB should post some sort of warning that this is probably just some kid’s ice cream fund. The whois doesn’t list a real house or phone number, so no telling if there’s any accountability on this at all. This kid’s other websites are all Call of Duty landing pages.

TL/DR: Don’t give this “company” your payment info!

After everything I decided to cancel, even though it seems I am the only one to get a VPS on here. Support simply is non-existent. Also their site is broken now on the client page “Critical Error
Could not connect to the database”. They seemed okay at first, but its not worth the hassle. I have since moved to 123systems with their 15/year special to see how that goes.

  8. Hi,

My apologies to all of those who have waited to have their vps provisioned. We simply did not anticipate the demand that was caused by this post on LEB.

All US vps orders are now active, we will have another UK node online within 24 hours. Everyone that has requested a refund has been given one and all support tickets have been answered.

If anyone would like to contact me personally, please feel free to do so: admin [@] curvehost.com

Again my apologies, we simply were not expecting this massive amount of orders.

    Best Regards

Breathost.com – you have to wait a little longer for setting up around 6 hrs. For me I’d waited nearly 10 hrs. But You will get a very nice speed & customer care.

Hostrail.com – You can get vps within 5 hrs after purchasing. I got within 4 hrs. Currently the speed is a little horrible even though I took vps 2nd package which costs 5.99/month.

I had to choose between several hosts, and semoweb was one of them so I researched, and can tell you it is promising company, they have servers in Limestone data center, like several good budget providers here. And their plans comes with burst ram that is hard to get for the same price. Also annual payment cuts a big chunk of the price for their plans. And pre-sales tickets has been responsive to me, that is why I suggest them. Also reviews in WHT were good. But to be honest I have no service with them yet!

Update: they told me they set the VPS up ages ago and sent the welcome email ages ago, but I searched every folder and nothing. I checked every day for that email, but never received it. My point is, if I don’t know the details of my VPS, how on earth can I spam? So I don’t even use my VPS and it gets suspended…

Very strange if you ask me! Okay, they may have sent a welcome email although I didn’t receive it, but suspending my VPS when I didn’t even know it existed because I was using it to spam or something is extremely outrageous.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, It appears their WHMCS is incorrectly setup and doesnt send any emails to their end user’s which to be honest is another red flag, I never got my welcome emails I had to look in the “email” tab within the clientarea to see what had been send, I find the whole of their operation a complete joke, Just check the “email” tab within their clientarea to see what messages was sent and to see if you actually have a message regarding the setup, Because from my experience they dont even have any nodes to deploy anything on and their now using strange tactics of trying to suspend people in order not to give refunds, I think their whole operation is a complete shamble and they should be ashamed of themselfs!

It sounds like they have spent all their funds on trying to get some servers online that they dont have any funds left to refund anyone with, Their accounting appears to be a mess and I guess we will see them in the dead pool sometime in the near future

Yeah. Don’t get me wrong, $2.99 is nothing. I have paid for lots of VPS and canceled them just to test them, but when I ask for a refund and don’t get one, it really asks the question “can I trust this host? Certainly not.” If they won’t even give back $2.99…
