  1. Though their prices are certainly tempting.
I purchased a Reseller from them a few months ago. At first everything was fine, until about 2 months ago when I started to notice server going offline very often, I have made multiple complaints still no fix on this issue. The worst outage was when we had an app launch, and the server went offline for 2hours, you can assume how the launch went. This is my site monitoring report for the last few days : https://i.imgur.com/rAtMmLY.png

I am not complaining about their service or their price, it’s their server, if you are thinking of buying, I suggest you to use it as a backup server.

I’m going through this exact problem right now. Reseller server was alright for a couple weeks, but now it’s sitting at a very high load average all day, and my sites are constantly up and down (20+ alerts a day at LEAST). Overnight the load seems to go down, and the downtime alerts stop. I’ve definitely found the problem.

Support has been useless though. So far their only suggestion was that we try a dedicated IP (what the heck does that have to do with load average and downtime!?), and then they’ve ignored every other question I sent about the problem.

Wonder if it’s too late to dispute the PayPal payment?

based on what the support guys said, SSH access is a separate addon that needs to be purchased.

Going to give them a shot. For a few bucks what the hey, worth a shot and I don’t want to wait another year for next years cyber Monday deals.
What I’ve learned is that every Hosting Provider here, or elsewhere, is going to have BOTH good and bad reviews, and I did my research and SolvedByData seems to have majority good. So for a few dollars seems like a safe bet
I shall update with my experience later on :)

totally agree with you. bought a $12/yr reseller myself. So far so good and the servers seem to load swiftly. unbeatable deal. a dedicated IP usually costs me more than that with most hosting companys lol

        Hi Stan,

What is your dedicated IP? I’m wondering if I really got one.
The hostname and Nameserver all resolved to the same IP, same as the IP they gave me.
        Is this normal?

Taylor runs a good shop. Trust me, you guys are in good hands with SBD. I have been using their reseller service for a couple months now, and my websites load faster (much faster) compared to my previous host (HostMantis).

Don’t be thrown off if they don’t respond to you right away, I can only imagine how busy these guys might be with the BF/CM rush from LEB. Have a little patience.

I’m confused how the “Shared Unmetered” plan would work.

It doesn’t seem realistic that it could be unlimited. For example, what would stop someone from signing-up and using 100-TB of storage as their personal backup server?

    There must be some limitation?

    Thanks in advance!

    • Rod:

You must be new to hosting, just about everyone knows “unlimited” is never really unlimited because nothing in the world is truly unlimited. It is limited by “fair use” whatever that means is up to the provider.

      • RKM:

        @Rod,
I think you missed the subtle nuances behind my post. I’m not new to this by any means, I ran colo space back in 97. I’m very well aware of AUP’s — and the various methods ISP’s/et al, use to redefine the term “unlimited”.

In fact, this was the very point I was making…

AUP’s, Fair Use, etc — are typically based on 97+ percentile stats (for practical summation purposes).

Yet … This is a $1.75/month plan with “unmetered” **SSD** space. Even a Fair-Use cutoff is far more than anyone can sustain at $1.75/month for SSD blocks.

Therefore … My question remains … What EXACTLY do you get in the “unmetered” plan. They don’t publish any AUP.

Beware, after two months of use, the host server is running out of disk space and can not accommodate my VPS’ disk space of 150GB. They want to resolve by migrating my server location from LA to NY which changes the IP address. Caution, they are likely overselling their services/resources and putting the inconvenience on the customer.

BUYER BEWARE! after two months of use, the host OpenVZ server has been oversubscribed and can not accommodate my VPS with 150GB storage in Los Angeles. They are coercing me to move to New York which changes my IP. I now find out by a traceroute that shows my VPS is actually in Buffalo, NY. BEWARE of runarounds and unsatisfactory support which needs better service by escalation.

After I cancelled my service at SbD, 24 hours later it was really closed. However my ticket of asking refund was never addressed properly. Everytime I send a ticket, the reply is always constant. I am afraid my money will never goes back while my service was cancelled. So bad luck for me. I hope SbD will respond, because they have no phone number written on their website however and customers have no other choice other than sending tickets. Too bad.

There seems to be huge load issues on the reseller hosting side. I’m told they’re “working on it”, but as someone who knows servers and data centres myself, it shouldn’t be taking this many days, or at least not without giving me a more transparent answer as to what’s up.

I purchased their Shared 100 GB Hosting service. I am satisfied with the performance but got disappointed with the blacklisted shared mail IP address by Google and Microsoft email addresses. I raised a ticket to bring this to the admin’s attention, which they responded by changing the shared mail IP of my account. It went fine for three days but the problem recurred after that. I am not sending bulk emails but apparently other users of their platform are abusing their otherwise great service. There are apparently “bad apples” using their platform, which leads to black-listing of their shared mail IPs and it is unfortunate other good users suffer collateral damage and the admins seems unable to control those who abuse their email service. The admins eventually advised me to get a dedicated IP address to resolve my issue. So for me, their Shared web hosting packages are OK for as long you don’t send emails to gmail and outlook email addresses because their Shared SMTP servers are blacklisted by Google and Microsoft email platforms.

I’m having exactly the same problem with them (commented below). And their support staff keep giving inconsistent answers. They don’t even tried to understand my problem and said that “they don’t support php mail() function”. I’ve tried to work with authorized 3rd party SMTP server, but their firewall blocks outgoing connection to port 465. I’ve tried to raise a ticket about that but then can’t solve it for days and giving bulllsh*t answers.
Going to migrate soon. Avoid that company.

As of today, outgoing mails on my shared hosting account is fully working again, which is good. I hope it stays that way. SBD should take appropriate measures to make sure email abuse is not tolerated on their shared hosting accounts to protect the reputation of outgoing mail servers and prevent being blacklisted.

        December 18, 2018 @ 2:19 am | Reply
        • trekkiemonster:

I get the impression that SBD is a bit of a fly-by-night operation. Given the low quality of support, awful turnaround, and extremely high overselling, I’m suspecting it’s more of an “after work” company for some bloke in his basement who’s trying to keep costs extremely low to make some extra change.

Most of the email responses seem to be off shore teams given the poor English I’m assuming, so it’s most likely a one man company who’s using a third party support service where they pay per email response, or pay per closed ticket. I have under 85% uptime on my website, keep getting told they’ll “fix it”, ignored for days, and then the ticket closed. Seems to be like someone is just trying to hit their closed ticket metrics to get paid and has no real ability to actually help me.
