DotVPS - $15/Year 128MB OpenVZ VPS in Maidenhead, Buffalo, Dallas and Chicago

DotVPSJack, from DotVPS is back with some more exclusive offers for LowEndBox readers. If you have been reading LET recently, then you’ve probably read about the failed acquisition of DotVPS…

Note: Jack informs us that, depending on which node your VPS is created on you may have burstable RAM or vSWAP.

DotVPS have been featured five times before. We last featured DotVPS in April this year, with their $7 3GB plan. Interestingly enough, DotVPS were rebranded to HTTPNode. But soon after that occurred, the takeover reversed with Jack back in control. They have moved all of their servers in Scranton, PA to Chicago, IL (with ColoCrossing) and all their Dallas, TX servers from LSN to ColoCrossing. IPv6 is currently only available in the UK and it will most likely be a while until it’s released in the US, instant rDNS is available in all locations. DotVPS seem to be getting fairly good reviews on LET and LEB.

Hehe, I do apologise. I usually draft offers up with stupid stuff like that for my own entertainment to make sure I read through and correct it at the end. It works too except I probably didn’t save the corrections I made, goddamn WordPress.

My bad, sorry guys if you were offended etc. ;-)

Myself and friends have a total of 6 boxes from jack now. He’s been excellent on the support when we wanted to move the boxes around. Only down time was when the Dallas boxes were moved, jack kept up informed and even let us choose a time slot to minimise downtime.

I’m glad jack is still in charge, you couldn’t wish for better service.

I purchased the $7 VPS when HTTPNode took over. I’ve received nothing but great support from Jack over the past week. For example, the ability to install Ubuntu 12.04 via SolusVM wasn’t possible when HTTPNode were in charge; the best they could offer was a manual install of the OS. When Jack was back in charge, one support ticket asking for the same help and viola, I’m on 12.04 which I can freely reinstall using Solus :D

    Thanks Jack!

Hi I’ve tried to buy a node, ([OpenVZ] 128MB RAM), but it says “out of stock”, any idea when would it be available again?

Probably the ([OpenVZ] 96MB) would be more than enough for me, while i’m learning and adventuring in this.
My current requirements are basically an ssh server for tunneling service, only for me, a VPN server, host a small site, eventually in the future mySql small db’s, so if 96MB is enough i would get it.

I purchased a 32MB UK VPS earlier, and its been unreachable all afternoon. I’ve got a trouble ticket in (#541338) as of an hour ago. I’ll try from another ISP on my end later tonight, but I don’t have any troubles connecting to my other VPS from here. Just the VPS from DotVPS.co is problematic. Not sure why.

      June 10, 2013 @ 10:27 pm | Reply
    • Fixed, Due to using !@£$%^&*() or a simple ‘Space’ ( ) in your password, SolusVM didn’t correctly assign your VPS the IP Address therefore the VPS was unreachable.

Apologies for the 4 hour delay on your ticktet.

    Hello everyone.

I’ve been with dotvps for 4 months and it’s been an excellent experience with them. It’s been always great to be with them. During the DDoS on the UK nodes, Jack kept us informed of what was happening and moreover, he was taking care of support tickets also. It’s been a good experience being with DotVPS and Jack. Also, most of the times I’ve got my tickets solved by Jack himself. I’m kinda happy that re-branding didn’t work out :P

Keep up the good work Jack!

I’m interested in purchasing a VPS package for setting up a private VPN. I don’t see myself using more than 50 GB a month in traffic, even though it allows 500 GB. For just a VPN, is 128 MB the minimum or can I go lower?

Also, you have IPV4 for the US and IPV6 for the UK. Does this mean I will be able to have an exit node in the UK as well? If not, what benefit is there with the UK IPV6 addresses?

    Thanks!

    July 5, 2013 @ 6:50 pm | Reply
    • You can go lower.

You get an IPv4 address in all locations but UK includes IPv6 too.

Benefit is that you can connect via IPv6.

    Hi Jack,

Have an issue with setting up PPTP VPN on my VPS. Installation works just fine no issues or dramas but I’m not able to connect to the VPN server. I have now tried this with centos 5/6 and debian and it fails on all of them. I’ve just wasted half a day trying to get this done.

VPS node is UK4. Ticket #430955.

Also the VPS doesn’t show any vSWAP/Burst RAM.

Much appreciated if you can have a look into this.
