      I upgrade my kernels and have a low uptime :)

      • I take it you have low uptime because you had to reboot your VPS to install the new kernel? :)

          76 is far from low uptime, And yeh most likely kernel upgrades/modifications

      As long as you don’t use any bittorrent, legal or illegal, in both cases they can suspend/delete your account.

  3. I know this is besides the point but Fall doesn’t start until the 23rd:

    Don’t get me started about those Southern Hemisphere folks who have their stuff backwards. Toilets and all that.

    I do have a question though. For Xen, does swap come out of your account’s allocation or is it a server pool somewhere?

    September 4, 2011 @ 2:57 pm | Reply
    • To be as flexible as possible for the customer, we use a swap file which is located on the VPS’s virtual disk. This is flexible as the user is able to shrink or enlarge this :)

    This provider has been really good to me so far – 20:32:43 up 51 days, 20:58, 1 user, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
    However the new order had a MaxMind error but I have every faith that they will get this sorted soon. Their support has been great so far.

    How do I go about getting a UK VPS purely for the UK IP? I don’t want it for blogging, emailing etc – just routing through the box. The order pages at the providers I’ve looked at require host name, domain, NS servers. I don’t want what I don’t need. Any help appreciated. TIA

    • Daniel:

      Just Put anything in the NS and domain boxes ( Within reason) As most of the time they are completely irrelivant anyways.

    This is an amazing offer, after trying 3 or 4 lowendbox deals I settled on them, as the service is at least as stable as Gandi (who I’d consider my previous “feels like hardware performance” VPS provider), while remaining a fraction of the price.

    Been with them since May and only once had a noticeable service issue, which was the network throughput dropping off for a few hours. The guys are incredibly responsive and really care about support, highly recommended.

    • Hi David,

      Thanks for the nice review :)

      Just to clarify, the issue back then when the network dropped was due to us moving our servers from one rack to another, to enable us to have more room to install more servers :)

      Thanks

      Jonny

    How do I remove the VAT? I am in India.

      After you have enter your india address, the VAT will be removed.

      September 8, 2011 @ 9:22 am | Reply
    • Indeed, circus is correct. If you follow through right until the end of the process, you will see that VAT will be removed, as you are outside of the EU

      Thanks

    Is there a test download available? And can anyone on one of the boxes do some downloads to show speeds?

      Since folks seem to love their cachefly tests:

      $ wget -O /dev/null http://cachefly.cachefly.net/100mb.test

      HTTP request sent, awaiting response… 200 OK
      Length: 104857600 (100M) [application/octet-stream]
      Saving to: `/dev/null’

      100%[======================================>] 104,857,600 20.4M/s in 5.2s

      2011-09-09 08:23:50 (19.2 MB/s) – `/dev/null’ saved [104857600/104857600]
