LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

FiberVolt - $5.53 256MB OpenVZ VPS in San Diego

FiberVolt Victor from FiberVolt emailed me their special promotion for LowEndBox readers. Use coupon code LEB15OFF to get 15% off recurring discount on their OpenVZ VPS plans. Their “256 Volts” package would be $5.53/month after the discount. Use this link to order.

  • 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
  • 30GB storage
  • 75GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Servers are with i2B Networks in San Diego CA. They also have a $20/year 128MB OpenVZ VPS, but unfortunately the coupon code does not work. Domain was created in June 2010, first blog post in July 2010, but the first WHT appearance wasn’t until early this week. Not to mention the pricing has already changed! You can look at the TOS and AUP here, and they seem to be quite restrictive — no audio/video streaming, no adult sites, no large files, no IRC, etc. More like a shared hosting’s AUP than VPS hosting’s.

  3. Hello guys, we’ve updated our TOS & AUP and doubled the bandwidth for all plans. We’ve also added Gentoo as an option due to huge demand. Thank you for the feedback.

    Regards,
    Victor

  8. Glad you like the design. We wanted to go for something different and unique and I think we got that. We’re constantly working on the design and various parts of the site to improve it. We want your journey through the website to be as seamless as possible. Keep an eye out we have some interesting things in the pipeline for the coming months.

Did you remove IRC from the TOS&AUP ? I can’t find it.

Your TOS&AUP is by far one of the most annoying I have ever read. Is there some special
reason why every single word is a separate image? This makes it impossible to search through.

Hi Joe. I’m working on making it a more pleasant experience. If you have any feedback please don’t hesitate to contact us, it will get to us quicker than posting here. Thanks.

    • Agreed. Looks read nice when it first loads but then is does some trickery and I can’t even read it. Not real thrilled with the font choice although what was there previously before the trickery looked fine.

This is like the second or third host that does weird stuff with their legal documents. I really feel like it shows a lack of respect for the possible client. If I can’t real their legally binding contact, I’m not going to trust them with my data. I also doubt such a document presented in such a manner would hold up in any court.

One minor note. SPAM is the food item and a trademark of Hormel. Spam is the email crud. May want to change that.

Any word that’s in such widespread usage as ‘SPAM’ has probably lost its trademark status and become generic and will not hold up in any court. Monopoly privileges defacto revoked.
