LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

First Line Hosts - £3.30 128MB OpenVZ VPS in Chicago/UK/Netherlands

FirstLineHosts New providers Monday! I’ll hopefully be posting a few offers from some new providers today, i.e. they have never been featured on LowEndBox before. However at the same time they might be really new providers — and some might even be in the dead pool in a few months time. So watch your steps when you proceed :)

First we have Gelo, the “COO” of First Line Hosting Services, emailed me about their new VPS services. They claim to use “8-core CPUs, SAS disks, and 1Gbps ports “, and are available in 3 different locations — Chicago USA, London UK and Amsterdam NL. You get to pick the location when you sign up. Their “Sand” turns up to be £3.30/month (USD$5.42) when you click through its sign up link, although on their site it says 3 pound. Anyway, you get

  • 128MB guaranteed/384MB burstable memory
  • 30GB storage
  • 400GB/month data transfer on 1Gbps
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Payment available in PayPal. Disparity between their website price and their WHMCS price would be a warning sign. They do however do £19.15/year for annual billing cycle, although I would not recommend going for that for a provider that only has domain registered since January this year. No SSL on WHMCS. ToS goes to 404 on their website. Registrant “Jon-Paul” is based in UK, which I guess is the “CEO”. Traded as “First Line Network Ltd” (same title on their Facebook page), although I doubt they are actually a registered limited company. No review on WHT but some info can be found on all the Habbo forum (google “jjgalaxy12” for example) — not a good sign to me.

  1. Concerning indeed (Judging from the picture that I found of one of the owners on the web).

+ Last time I checked trading claiming your a legal entity (eg LTD, LLP,etc) is illegal?

Not a good start at all.

Please feel free to give me your companies house number and ill get LEA to remove or edit my comments.

    • “FIRST LINE NETWORK SERVICES LIMITED” apparently was registered in 2007, but was dissolved last year (2010)

Claiming to be a legal entity (when your not), is not only illegal, but is mis-advertising too. Im not too sure about it, Business Studies only scarcely goes over legal status.

Usually that’s not their intention. Because of lack of skill to manage and promote the company properly they soon run into financial issues and since they are just kids they don’t have money to invest into company to keep it running.

Also, I thought LowendBox would check on those things first before adding them to their blog. Or has LowEndBox received a bag full of money of FirstLineHosts?

      • I thought people would read the blog rather than just looking at the spec and the number behind the dollar sign. Oh well.

@Ville – This is interesting, this site is indeed suspiciously similar to ours… reading the comments below is a good laugh, although I’m glad someone has found use of our reseller program (which, admittedly, has few registration criteria).

        • Actually it’d be a good idea to draw some attention to this one.

I was thinking it may have been a jacked license, then thought it was maybe xehost since they offer the licenses at continuum. But, the RWHOIS on the IP’s is to someone in Spain.

It’s odd for sure, quite possibly lifted.

  12. Why do host not bother to turn off domain registration for VPSs in WHMCS? Its like 1 checkbox, I even went further and removed the nameserver boxes from the new WHMCS order templates, but hardly a chore.

  13. Just some clarification. Yeah I haven’t bothered to linked to those Habbo forums and that Skype screen shot — I guess people here would have no problem finding it after a bit of googling. I have also noted in the blog that some providers I listed were destined for dead pool. Maybe I should have said that it is definite a dead pool material or something along the line :)

I sometimes listed out providers that are destined to fail right from the start. People should probably read and research a bit before clicking on the sign up link anyway.

But kudos to Ville for picking up the similarity between IonVM and this shop here. As of IonVM, it’s probably ran by the same guy(s) as TelVPS, Delimiter.us, XVPS.us and other “Dann Fry Ltd” sites, so no, they won’t be listed on LowEndBox.

Since I have already posted it, I’ll leave it as it is. Might come back one day marking it as dead :)

    • Hi,

I represent IonVM as General Manager. Sorry but what is the connection you draw between IonVM.com and the other hosts listed? Who is Dann Fry, and why are you certain that IonVM can’t be featured? I was hoping you would post our offer re: my recent email!

      Thanks.

        • When I posted it up I did not realise that it was a reseller. I’ve already outlined the reason above on IonVM.

        • The ‘reason above’ is what I was referring to, LowEndAdmin, can you please elaborate more?

I think he won’t post you offer as LEA believes a ‘Dann Fry’. Is involved with ionVM who perhaps in the past ripped people off or something.

        August 17, 2011 @ 9:24 am | Reply
        • I understand, but I don’t know who that is and our company is most certainly not ripping anyone off, so I’m hoping LowEndAdmin can send me a message or take a minute to post and clear this up. It’s a hefty accusation, and here I am hoping IonVM can become part of the LEB community!

LEB is a great place where we can hold crappy hosts accountable for crappy service and fraud by airing out their dirty laundry and letting people know
whether to spend their money or not.

  17. I don’t like their ToS/AUP. As far as I can tell, it’s no where linked to on their site. You have to go into the order panel to find it at the bottom of the page. Really should be on each and every page of the website considering it’s a very important legal document. It’s nice that Jon up there links to it but he shouldn’t have to.

Also it’s poorly written, Their Prohibited Activities are divided into two different sections. For example, proxies are not allowed but that is buried further down in the document. There’s no definitions as to who “we” and “you’ are or other terms.

They don’t allow more than 25 processes to be running. I’m currently running 54 on my Quickweb VPS and it’s not doing much.

I do like how they spell out that their 7 day no-quibble money back guarantee is only valid once every 12 months. Nice to see that in writing.

They allow for a “account closure fee”. Eeeewwww…..

There’s more too but I’m trying to get some work done and failing massively.

If you’re from EU then half of their TOS are useless because they violate EU Directives and Regulations concerning end-user protection. So if you’re from EU you won’t have so much problems with the TOS.

They are in detail violation Art. 6 (1) of EU Directive 97/7/EC which enables a free right of withdrawal from any distance contract without any penalty and without giving any reason.
