Alex, from FlipHost, has sent in his first ever offers, for LowEndBox readers! These OpenVZ SSD plans are exclusive to LowEndBox and come with free backups, Anycast DNS and Offloaded SQL.
SSD Yearly
| SSD 1
| SSD 2
|
FlipHost have never been featured on LowEndBox before, though they’re pretty active on LowEndTalk. Alex informs us that the minimum specifications of their Kspliced Nodes, consists of: E3-1230v2 CPU, 32GB RAM and 4 x Intel 335 SSD in Hardware Raid 10 with a LSI MegaRaid 9266/9271 card. Some of their servers are using Dual E5-26XX CPU’s. Next month FlipHost will have been in business for an impressive 2 years! They’re currently working on a “VPS Auto Script Installer” (sneak peak). The only review I could fine was this one. It would be great if more reviews were left. Update: Storage plan has now sold out.

FlipHost accept payments via Paypal. Refunds are issued on a case by case basis. For their storage plan: Legal Torrents are allowed however you must throttle the download to prevent I/O abuse & a 1Gbps upgrade is available for $2 per month. Full Backups are taken every 6 hours (Self Restore) – Not Applied to Storage VPS (kb). Offloaded SQL can be requested via ticket. Anycast DNS management (Rage4) is also available for customers. We are told that you can host whatever you like as long as if it is legal in the U.S. and does not hurt or affect the performance of the node. Tor Exits are however not allowed. You can view their Terms of Service for more information.

1 TB storage plan.Crazy!
Got to get me some of that 1TB goodness!
Storage1000 bandwidth is 1Gbps or 100Mbit? Doesn’t compute either way.
Bandwidth is 100mbps with a 1Gbps upgrade available. I submitted a correct to have it fixed.

The end ?
The 1Tb offer was limited to 8 uses. However all of our SSD offers are still in stock.
Ah well, 1TB was the interesting part. Time to move on.
1TB for $7? You are CRAZY :))
Perhaps a smidge ;)
Still, i’d love to have one but I dont have PAYPAL which is the major reason I cannot have this.
I wish all the best to the lucky 8 users
I may offer other payment methods in the future, and am actively looking to improve what I offer. Hope to have you along with us in the future :)
UnixBench score: 2994.4
I/O rate: 429.0 MB/second
Bandwidth rate: 14.0 MB/second

AIso it unmetered bandwidth on the storage plan, and does the 50mb max public filezize in the TOS applie to the vps plans?
First off I really appreciate you reading the TOS.
The file size limit does not apply to VPS, only shared hosting.
Bummer, no credit card payment option…. kinda hard to take a company seriously when they only accept Paypal. :-(
We do accept credit cards, this is however done through PayPal.
I wish I could delete my post… for some reason earlier it wouldn’t let me pay by credit card, it wanted me to create an account. Now I just tried and it’s working fine.
You can use PayPal even if you don’t have a PayPal account – It’s really no different to any other credit card processor in that case.
but it does ask you to make an account with paypal in order to pay? and if your country is not supported you cannot?
Nice, looks like a worthy competitor to BuyVM!
I can’t seem to find any information about the offloaded SQL though. Is it MySQL or PostgreSQL? What are the limits in terms of database site and number of databases? Can I use stored procedures and views?
Glad to hear you like what you see :)
As for the offloaded SQL
It is MySQL, handled through cPanel, similar to buyvm. This is however going to be integrated into Whmcs shortly.
As of this time we have no defined limits on the number of databases or size. We have a few people using our offloaded SQL for databases 2GB + in size. The limits will defined more on the future but I can assure you they will be more than fair.
I didn’t need this VPS but ordered it anyway.
Now I have to find some other provider to drop because these boxes are fast!
SSD baby :p
Let me know if Storage1000 is activated again.
Still active
At a bloated regular price.
Fill in all the fields on the first screen, then click “Checkout”, you will see that the price changed to $7.
Oh nevermind, I checked the SSD offer, not storage.
This is what I see: http://sdumps.net/images/2013/05/07/MWSnap004_2013-05-07,_15_52_02.jpg
Storage 1000 offer is used up for a while now.
The coupon code only works on monthly subs? I tried to apply it to a yearly sub and it said The promotion code you entered has been applied to your cart but no items qualify for the discount yet – please check the promotion terms
I will put up a yearly coupon shortly
SSD1 yearly: GHPR9H9P7A
SSD2 yearly: XU52TI0WUE
Any plans to restock the storage plan?
The $7 discounted plan will not be restocked anytime soon. You can however still buy it at the regular price or buy one of our smaller plans: https://sales.fliphost.net/cart.php?gid=8
i want the 1TB
Read the post above
Got all my sites moved over to my VPS (SSD2 plan) in one night, and now finally the nameserver changes have propogated. My vBulletin forum is QUITE speedy using MySQL hosted on the VPS. What’s this I hear about offloaded MySQL? I’d be interested to hear about the specs of the boxes the offloaded SQL would run on (ie if it’s SSD based as well).
Loving mine sofar!
Glad to hear your server is running so fast.
Our offloaded SQLis currently running with:
E3-1230
4 intel SSD in RAID 10
This is provided to all clients for free. To request it just open a ticket and we will set you up.
Awesome, thank you for your quick replies! :-)
These guys are a serious contender. I got their SSD 2 plan, blazing fast – and still like it to this day (rare)
Fast support and billing too. Thanks Alex.
hello fliphost,
i just order SSD2 plan, but have got maxmin error,
please check my order.
thanks
I have responded to your ticket
thanks fliphost,
i got my vps and its really fast!!
and here my test:
wget freevps.us/downloads/bench.sh -O – -o /dev/null|bash
UnixBench5.1.3:
iops:
best box i ever had!
Glad everything is working well for you. Will try our best to make sure this performance continues.
i get MaxMind Error too when order SSD 2 for 1 year..
please help me
Check your order now.
thank you for fast response before i submit ticket :) nice service…
And all went well till today, I hope you can get node storage1 backup without data loss.
We are working on it now.
IPMI died along with it so we are awaiting KVM hookup from the DC
Mines back up, thanks for keeping us updated.
Glad to hear it. if you need anything let us know.
Will the Storage1000 plan be available again?
The plan is still able to be purchased, just not for the discounted price in this offer.
We may offer this discount again in the future however there is no set time of when or if it will.
The storage vps is still running very solid.
Highest io speed i have on any non-ssd based vps.
At quick glance I thought that was our SSD VPS and thought “hmm that really went down”.
Glad to hear it is continuing to work well for you. We will continue to keep improving.
PcJamesy – something in your test doesn’t seems right.
dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync && rm -rf test
16384+0 records in
16384+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 8.63095 s, 124 MB/s
That’s more realistic storage vps disk I/O throughput speed result and of course still great. I am really glad to have this little storage box.
A little less but still high.
Maybe I’m just running the test at the right time who knows but still like you said your result is still really good. I’m on node storage1.
Sorry code got cut off
root@Data:~# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync && rm -rf t est
16384+0 records in
16384+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 1.82129 s, 590 MB/s
maybe you are not on the same box… anyway, a very good speed considering it’s not SSD powered, it makes you think…
Do you have lesser space storage plan, like 100gb for lower price?
Also, can I run owncloud, openvpn (connected to my home), and samba on storage server?
Hello,
We have these: https://sales.fliphost.net/cart.php?gid=8
Yes you can runs those
I just wanted to say that these guys have EXCELLENT support, and the speeds on my SSD2 box are amazing!
When I open a support ticket during business hours, they usually respond within 5 minutes. If it is after hours, they respond first thing in the morning. They are always very helpful, and they make you feel like a friend.
Now stop reading this post and go get a VPS from Fliphost! :)
Thank you Milton for the kind words :) . I always love to wake up and read a good review. I hope you continue to enjoy your server and hope we can continue to maintain the level or support and performance that you have come to expect from us.
Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you need anything.
