FlipHost have never been featured on LowEndBox before, though they’re pretty active on LowEndTalk. Alex informs us that the minimum specifications of their Kspliced Nodes, consists of: E3-1230v2 CPU, 32GB RAM and 4 x Intel 335 SSD in Hardware Raid 10 with a LSI MegaRaid 9266/9271 card. Some of their servers are using Dual E5-26XX CPU’s. Next month FlipHost will have been in business for an impressive 2 years! They’re currently working on a “VPS Auto Script Installer” (sneak peak). The only review I could fine was this one. It would be great if more reviews were left. Update: Storage plan has now sold out.

Full Backups are taken every 6 hours (Self Restore) – Not Applied to Storage VPS (kb). Offloaded SQL can be requested via ticket. Anycast DNS management (Rage4) is also available for customers. We are told that you can host whatever you like as long as if it is legal in the U.S. and does not hurt or affect the performance of the node. Tor Exits are however not allowed. AIso it unmetered bandwidth on the storage plan, and does the 50mb max public filezize in the TOS applie to the vps plans?

    May 6, 2013 @ 3:15 pm | Reply
    • First off I really appreciate you reading the TOS.

The file size limit does not apply to VPS, only shared hosting.

  9. Bummer, no credit card payment option…. kinda hard to take a company seriously when they only accept Paypal. :-(

    May 6, 2013 @ 4:51 pm | Reply
    • We do accept credit cards, this is however done through PayPal.

      May 6, 2013 @ 5:03 pm | Reply
      • I wish I could delete my post… for some reason earlier it wouldn’t let me pay by credit card, it wanted me to create an account. Now I just tried and it’s working fine.

        May 7, 2013 @ 4:52 am | Reply
    • You can use PayPal even if you don’t have a PayPal account – It’s really no different to any other credit card processor in that case.

      May 7, 2013 @ 3:48 am | Reply
      • but it does ask you to make an account with paypal in order to pay? and if your country is not supported you cannot?

  10. Nice, looks like a worthy competitor to BuyVM!

I can’t seem to find any information about the offloaded SQL though. Is it MySQL or PostgreSQL? What are the limits in terms of database site and number of databases? Can I use stored procedures and views?

    May 7, 2013 @ 3:51 am | Reply
    • Glad to hear you like what you see :)

      As for the offloaded SQL

It is MySQL, handled through cPanel, similar to buyvm. This is however going to be integrated into Whmcs shortly.

As of this time we have no defined limits on the number of databases or size. We have a few people using our offloaded SQL for databases 2GB + in size. The limits will defined more on the future but I can assure you they will be more than fair.

    16384+0 records out

  16. Got all my sites moved over to my VPS (SSD2 plan) in one night, and now finally the nameserver changes have propogated. My vBulletin forum is QUITE speedy using MySQL hosted on the VPS. What’s this I hear about offloaded MySQL? I’d be interested to hear about the specs of the boxes the offloaded SQL would run on (ie if it’s SSD based as well).

    Loving mine sofar!

    • Glad to hear your server is running so fast.

Our offloaded SQLis currently running with:

      E3-1230
4 intel SSD in RAID 10

This is provided to all clients for free. To request it just open a ticket and we will set you up.

    5120+0 records out
    5368709120 bytes (5.4 GB) copied, 7.51807 s, 714 MB/s

PcJamesy – something in your test doesn’t seems right.

      dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync && rm -rf test
      16384+0 records in
      16384+0 records out
      1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 8.63095 s, 124 MB/s

That’s more realistic storage vps disk I/O throughput speed result and of course still great. I am really glad to have this little storage box.

A little less but still high.

        root@Data:~# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync && rm -rf t est
        16384+0 records in
        16384+0 records out
        1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 1.82129 s, 590 MB/s

Maybe I’m just running the test at the right time who knows but still like you said your result is still really good. I’m on node storage1.

I just wanted to say that these guys have EXCELLENT support, and the speeds on my SSD2 box are amazing!
When I open a support ticket during business hours, they usually respond within 5 minutes. If it is after hours, they respond first thing in the morning. They are always very helpful, and they make you feel like a friend.

Now stop reading this post and go get a VPS from Fliphost! :)

    • Thank you Milton for the kind words :) . I always love to wake up and read a good review. I hope you continue to enjoy your server and hope we can continue to maintain the level or support and performance that you have come to expect from us.
