512MB KVM with them (paid for a year up front). No issues other than the power loss they had about a month ago that wasn’t their fault. FRCorey was very vocal about what was going on and gave several (some argue too many) status updates.

I would recommend this VPS provider. This is my 2nd VPS with them. I had a personal issue arise after buying my first one… to which I was promptly refunded no questions asked (I did provide details about said personal issue).

Performance seems great.. but all I used it for (before power outage) was squirrelmail box with postfix and dovecot imapd. Sometimes using them as a SSH proxy @ work to get past some filters :P

  3. Recommended. I’ve been hosting a couple of low traffic sites on their KVM-512 (Ubuntu 12.04, nginx, node, Mongo DB) – one minor outage, but they seem to be on it before I managed to open a ticket.

  4. I got a box with them a while back during the March Madness sale (before it was popular for hipster cred), and I can attest that the coupon works across upgrades. As to the box itself, it seems to work well, has good speeds and all that. Like move providers with IPv6, they’ll give you more addresses on request (though I had to explain what I wanted with 60 additional addresses. You don’t get to know). Overall seems to be a fine company to me, and the recent outage, rather than shaking my faith in them, reinforced it – Corey seems to know what he’s doing.

The only problem is they don’t allow legal adult hosting!

I have had a 384mb KVM with SSD disk cache with FRH for about 6 months or so, and I do like the performance of the machine and location of the data center. As others above have said, the only issue I have ever had with FRH was the “loss of AC power” during maintenance initiated by the data center a month or so ago, which was communicated to customers and handled in a professional manner. Otherwise, Corey/support has handled any questions I have had quickly, and with a friendly attitude. I would recommend Front Range Hosting.

Signed up with them yesterday and today my VPS went down already (couple hours, not rebootable).

    Not a good start :<

Edit: But they replied to the ticket quickly (within 1 hour) and are looking into it now. There’s hope!

Yes there was a Kernel Panic with IPTables being the last thing seen on the console so were looking into what may have happened.

Thanks for the quick recovery (VPS is up again)!

        • Guessing you maxed out your allowed iptables rules / the amount of containers blocking IPs caused iptables to floor out the machine exhausting memory.

Happened to another company I consult for a week or so ago, host-node had to be rebooted at console because of this.

BTW: Routing doesn’t seem to backhaul to odd locations anymore. Comcast -> Cogent CoS. Plus that $4.20 price just seems… right :) Might have to pick up one of these for another local server.

          @Kris

Actually that server had more VPS’s in the past without problems, but that’s the last thing that was on the console when it crashed. Similar issue with another node, but we decided to put ksplice on it and were keeping an eye on them, were several KP bugs that were resolved in the last month since we rebooted them so rather than do another reboot we used ksplice to bring the kernel up to date.

It’s 2, just a typo. If there’s ever a question what the specs are on our website are correct.

  9. i did not want to add a review here , but it seems that front range hosting does deserve one.
Okay so i ordered the 256 one , as soon as i finished order , i was put to fraud status. Opened a ticket , support forwarded ticket two times , next day i was allowed to pay. As soon as i paid , the final checkout gave some module error , refreshed the page , the bill said it is paid , got details in email.
Starting configuring my vps , moved data and all , took me about 5 hours , at some time it was getting very slower , the console got un responsive. After alot of hardwork , my vps went offline , tired restarting , didnt work. Opened a ticket , reply was it was being checked. I had already turned off my old vps. And i wanted a long time handshake here. Anyways , after 2 hours they restarted whole node and said , they might apply some updates etc. First impression was not so good.
as they have 7 days full return policy , i switched back to my old vps and requested for a refund. the support forwarded my ticket twice , After few hours one senior admin replied: he is away and cannot process ticket from mobile so as soon as he gets home he will process it”. I said Okay.. After two days nothing happend , and my ticket was closed by the support , i replied on it asking that if the refund was not processed why my ticket is closed? and the support again re-forwarded it (HUH?).. After hours , i got a reply that the refund has processed.
It has been more than a day now , i never got my money back. My server is still on with them , it was also not cancelled yet.
So , i have given up getting the money back , because all the support can do is to forward TICKETS only and use the vps till the end of month. I am glad it was a monthly plan , not yearly. I wished to be a long time customer , as i have always paid yearly.. but , i dont think with such attitude , things can go anywhere.

    • Just to add , I have got my money back –

The benchmark from my 256 mb server was :

      UnixBench score: 1881.6

      I/O rate: 372.0 MB/second

      Bandwidth rate: 41.5 MB/second

  10. I have 2 websites with these folks, and two with others, and fortunately both with them in the development phase. When I first set one of these up, they were much more helpful than other unmanaged server hosts in helping to get a mail server working and helping to debug it in a rather helpful and pleasant fashion. I suspect Cory is a consientious and dedicated individual running the show.
Overall, I have been happy with then aside from their recent power problem which they did apologize for. They offer competitive prices, their own nameservers, and respond to tickets promptly. I plan on sticking with them, and hope the quality of their services and products will improve over time. I suspect they will compensate for their recent shortcomings which may be beyond their control with appropriate measures. I look forward to a more robust system to be in place as a result.

Got their 128MB VPS since end of December 2012.
100% satisfied! Transit to Europe is really good, despite the higher latency (due to location).
    Support also great.

Have had a 256 with these guys for a couple months, just upgraded to a 512. FANTASTIC service, AWESOME support, QUICK ticket replies, these guys have it going on. Also, did you know, this is the only v6 provider I’ve found who actually gives you rDNS access and support for IPv6? Highly recommend. :D
