Jacob from GigeVPS, who has recently acquired HostLatch, emailed me about their exclusive offer to LowEndBox readers. Using this ordering link, you can get the following VPS for $6.95/month:
- 512MB guaranteed/768MB burstable memory
- 30GB storage
- 350GB/month data transfer with 1Gbit port
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
The VPS should be instant set up in the HostDime facility in Orlando FL, with 1Gbps shared pipe (just make sure you don’t burn your 350GB/month data quota too quickly). Servers are Xeon X3440 quad cores with multi-threading, although the package is limiting the virtual server to access only 2 cores. More discount if you prepay for longer term ($59.95/year for example).
As I have stated in the comment of previous HostLatch post, I’ve seen Jacob Wall a lot on WHT, and we have also previously posted low-end offers from GrandiosHost. A junior though that I think my readers need to be aware of (although I suspect 1/2 of the owners of providers featured here were of similar age). All the best with the business development.

Oh wow, I’ve been imagining that Jacob is 30’ish. Well, atleast he’ve been looking on WHT mature enough.
He is with Limestone right?
@mina
I did as well, He conducts himself very well though
@flyah
Yes Jacob is with Limestone Networks
@flyah: Hostdime
Are the GigeVPS host nodes in the same datacenter as the VPSLatch nodes?
Cmon guys cut him some slack. most of the people featured here are probably under 18 as well.
Most teens seem to want to make a quick buck then run but I did research on “Jacob Wall” and I see he’s been in this game since 2008 and he represents himself very well on the web, I would conclude he’s not a typical teen wanting a quick buck, he’s in business for a true meaning. My VPS is running good. I will post a benchmark on the weekend, work is killing me!
Jacob has indeed shown great maturity on the forums — just think about what sort of things you were doing when you were in high school :) (well I won’t reveal mine here).
The reason I felt that I needed to disclose it was not because of maturity, but because of potential accountability/liability. That’s also one issue with many providers hosted here. Many called themselves “companies” but were never registered in their state/country’s commerce system, and can just disappear without a trace.
About Jacob, did he the one who owned the VPSWow?
Because it seems like I ever saw him, and an article about him and his mom. :)
Appealing to me with that amount of memory, precisely what I need for a new project using couchdb but a US server just CAN’T BE a choice as regards to my policy concerning privacy. I’ll have to wait for a Canadian or Sweden offer like their.
> …but because of potential accountability/liability.
Well, since that blog post was made in October 2009, I would assume that he has graduated from high school now which would mean he is at least 18 years old.
…or a USB key for a month price to turn the broken laptop into something completely different, but that’s hardware everywhere.
Take a note: that owner doesn’t even have implemented SSL for WHMCS, I’d stay out from such hosts.
@Erawan — that would be Jason Scale in UK.
@AZGuy — the About page has apparently changed after I linked to it :)
@Tom — true. Port 443 is not available on that server. Something that is as cheap as $10/year to fix thoigh.
@ Tom – IMO, I don’t find it all that important unless they’re taking credit cards directly. Could just be me though.
DO NOT GO WITH GIGEVPS! I was perfectly happy with Hostlatch for quite awhile then BAM GigeVPS buys them out… and everything stops working. No telephone line for customer service, just a ticket submission system, which results in the vague reply that my issue is not within the realm of their technical support. Everything worked fine before they took over, now every hop the connection changes, everything goes to the right place for ten minutes then goes to another address. I sell software on a monthly subscription basis and the software is dependent on my website and database in order to function… all my clients’ businesses have been put on hold for 24 hours so far, at which point I have given up on GigeVPS and am switching everything back to a server I run from my house, while I figure out which host to go with next.
@Jim GigeVPS is a Unmanaged provider, so they have the right not to bend over to help a client with every problem. I recommend you go to a managed vps provider the next time around.
@Jim
Hallucinating.
Private IRC allowed?
GigeVPS sold to NetIntelligence. Hey it did not take long…
