A former OVH employee, Giner left them in 2011 and started GinerNet (a registered company in Spain) in 2012. He became a RIPE member around that time as well. After having launched services in Alicante, he eventually had to migrate everything to Barcelona because of the number of DDoS attacks he was receiving. He later expanded to Madrid and a new Alicante location. Host nodes have Intel Xeon X5670 CPUs, Intel 520 or Crucial M550 SSD drives in a RAID configuration backed up by a battery. OVH servers are being used for backups in France or Canada, as well as for DDoS protection should you choose that option. Reviews about GinerNet have been mainly positive. Should you try them out or be a customer of them, please share your experiences with us. From my experience they are quite good!

All servers come with backups included, where there’s two snapshots from SolusVM available. Automated remote backups are included as well. Don’t see this as an excuse not to make your own backups, but rather than an insurance that GinerNet may be able to do some quick disaster recovery should that ever be necessary. PayPal, credit cards, and Transferencia are accepted payment methods. DDoS-protected IPs seem to be available but they are quite expensive. Before ordering, please read their Terms of Service.

That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as long as providers are transparent about this :-)

        • We have stopped doing OpenVZ inside KVM due a Proxmox bug during Snapshots that causes many lag/downtimes in the OpenVZ during the backup process. I think Proxmox has fixed this now, but now, we have changed our backup method and doing direct OVZ we get better performance that is what we need in our high density infra. Instead, we think there is also not a bad solution to setup a extra virtualization layer.

I’ve been with Giner on one of these (512MB) for almost a year now.
There were a few minutes of downtime when the VM was physically hosted in Barcelona, but since the move to Alicante – not a single problem.
I was VERY happy with the move to Alicante, for nostalgic reasons, the city was like a second home to me when I was younger.
And now I’m even happier, because of the rock solid stability and also because of the performance.
And Giner himself is a very friendly guy.

Decent host all round. My plan has been sold, and when I had a few issues of my own making, support was swift and solid. A great host overall IMO, and if you need BPS in Spain I’d look no further.

Ah, GinerNet…I heard that they put the *fun* back in computing.

Too bad they’re such a *wee* company, at least I’ve heard they’ll be *expanding* pretty soon.
GinerNet is good for a *slick* deal, at least, and their high-end support certainly doesn’t screw you you over!

When it *comes* to picking the best VPS server, you can be sure you’re not getting a server that *sucks* with GinerNet.
