Google is all about going green.
They build awesome green datacenters, and are on an “ambitious journey to help build a more sustainable future.”
Through our products, we aim to empower individuals, cities, and partners to collectively reduce 1 gigaton of their carbon equivalent emissions annually by 2030.
Cool…so within 6 years, Google is going to be producing significantly less carbon than they’re producing now. In fact, the stated plan is to use 2019 as the benchmark and by 2030 they’ll be outputting less carbon.
Right? Welllllll….
Unfortunately for the polar bears, in the meantime the world and Google have moved on to the next shiny thing: artificial intelligence. Now Google’s plan to reduce carbon has blown up.
But its total greenhouse gas emissions have actually grown by 48 percent since 2019. Last year alone, it produced 14.3 million metric tons of carbon dioxide pollution — a 13 percent year-over-year increase from the year before and roughly equivalent to the amount of CO2 that 38 gas-fired power plants might release annually.
Ouch.

Yah, it’s a lot more than saving the planet. It’s world domination, while corporations fool everyone, under the garb of fake environment-consciousness.
