LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

Host1Plus - $2/month 256MB and $5/month 512MB OpenVZ VPS on four different continents

Host1Plus-Web_Hosting_Services_Provided_by_HOST1PLUS_-_2014-07-19_17.28.30Paulius, from Host1Plus.com, is back with two improved offers and a coupon exclusive to LowEndBox.com. Their last offer was already pretty nice, but since then they have overhauled their plans and according to their current website, removed the additional cost for TUN/TAP, NAT, and PPP! In addition to that, the port speed is now 50Mbps rather than 15Mbps, which is a very welcome improvement. Disk space has also increased on both plans, but bandwidth on the smaller plan has decreased. The price of the bigger plan has increased a little. I’m sure this is still the cheapest South Africa offer we’ve ever seen on LowEndBox.com and the second host in it’s history that features that location. I think they are the only host we’ve featured thus far that offers a Brazil location. What makes these offer even more uniqu, is that it has quite some bandwidth. Yes, the port speed may be limited to 50Mbps, but 500GB or 1TB of bandwidth is still a lot for these locations. Host1Plus has been doing business since 2008 and is a division of D. E. Technologies Ltd., which is a registered company in England and Wales. They have offices in London (UK), Kaunas (Lithuania), Frankfurt am Maine (Germany) so I have the idea they have quite an operation running. From my personal experience I can say these machines run just fine. I have one both in Brazil and South Africa and for the past six months they’ve had 100% uptime. If you decide to give them a try, please share your experiences with us in the comments!

Looks simply amazing. Would order one in the South Africa, but they (as Darius on support said) do not accept Bitcoins, even for one year orders.

Hmm, the LOWENDBOX changes nothing (“The promotion code you entered has been applied to your cart but no items qualify for the discount yet – please check the promotion terms”). Without any coupon the prices are the same, so it seems it’s not LEB exclusive offer – but still very nice!

It’s saying the price is $2.55 USD and not $2 USD (which is a 15% discount instead of a 33.33% discount) with that coupon code. Is that $2/mo in another currency? Or is it extra for Brazil?

I’m guessing extra for Sao Paulo as bandwidth there was reduced also. I picked one up anyway, too good an offer not to try for at least one month, eh?

Coupon is reducing Bronze in Sao Paulo from $3 to $2.55 for me. Shouldn’t it be $2

  10. I think there is a mistake. 6GB offer is 3GB as written on the Order page.

    @Paulius

    Your support staff need work.

I ask them to change 3 settings on my container and they keep sending me random links with fixes that I don’t want or need. I’ve given them the fix I need. I know it works. I’ve had to do it with other providers. DNSMASQ requires container changes to run on OpenVZ.

    [#ZYY-710-85543]: DNSMASQ and OpenVZ

    I need this done:

vzctl set CTID –capability setuid:on –save
vzctl set CTID –capability net_admin:on –save
vzctl set CTID –capability net_raw:on –save

BUT they refuse to do it and instead say I should just run it as root which is a security risk that I don’t want to take. Below is the exact reason why I don’t want to do so and that’s straight from the author.

“” There’s no way to do that: the reason is that dnsmasq starts as root,
does all the things that need root permissions (like opening sockets on
priviledged ports and opening the DHCP lease file) and then permanently
changes it’s identity from root to nobody.

It does this as a security feature, even if an atacker gets control of
the dnsmasq process, they can do far less harm as “nobody” then as “root”.

Since changes to the configuration file could involve some root-only
operations, there’s no way for a running dnsmasq process to process it.
It cannot regain its root privileges (there would be no security
advantage if it could). The only way to re-read the config file is to
start a new dnsmasq process, running as root. Then it can re-do the
    “root” only stuff.”

You’re so funny, concerned about security risks, and still buying OpenVZ.

I wanted to order the $2/mo basic “Bronze” in Sao Paulo, but after applying discount code “LOWENDBOX”, discount is only $0.45 off, resulting in $2.55/mo. Please advise…

I was referring to the OP here ($2 – ALL locations) and checking if this is an error in the cart or an error in the offer here on LEB…?

You definitely get what you pay for with these guys – not much. Worked for years in the industry – this would be the lowest of the low…hence the price! Not recommended at all – for a myriad of reasons. I’d concur with the complaints about support…worst of my experiences with VPS providers so far on the support side. In general; I’d recommend anyone else before this offering – why waste your time?

      Hey N3tz,

So what happened? If you worked for years in the industry, I wonder for an VPS whats the reason with the requests for support? Was the service down? Did they not reply to the tickets?

Strange to me with all this crying about support, never needed it myself personally, can’t see why I would.

We are sorry, but OpenVZ limitations do not allow us to enable “vzctl set CTID –capability setuid:on –save “, because it place our main system at risk. If you want to run DNSMASQ as “nobody” instead of “root” please check our Cloud Hosting offers, because XEN visualization is more flexible and there is no such limitation.
