HostMist - $42/Year 256MB Xen VPS in Germany

HostMist Matthew from HostMist emailed me regarding to the promotion they are currently heading for their new servers in Germany (with Hetzner). Basically two low end packages:

  • Cyclone (Sign up Link)
  • 256MB memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 200GB/month data transfer
  • $42/Year ($3.50/month)
  • Monsoon (Sign up Link)
  • 512MB memory
  • 25GB storage
  • 500GB/month data transfer
  • $7/Month or $72/Year

Server nodes are Intel Core i7-920 with hardware RAID1 drives. Only 15 VPS are available for each package.

Also a side note here. I have been flooded with “exclusive offers” and “please feature our VPS packages” emails every single day and so far I could only find opportunity to post maximum 2-3 posts per day on this blog. So please have this in mind when you email me — your offer might not appear on the blog until 48 hours later. Or it might never appear if I don’t think it’s suitable for our readers here. Sorry about the inconvenience.

  1. Giga port? Any test ip?

  2. Test IP: 78.46.40.211
We chose an 100MBps port as there won’t be many people on one node. Additional IPs are 1USD a month per IP. We could also arrange an one off fee for IPs.

Do you offer native ipv6 addresses?
Any VPS panel (like SolusVM or HyperVM)?

  4. I am using their US vps, panel is SolusVM

  5. We use SolusVM and since SolusVM doesn’t support IPv6 yet we cannot provide IPv6 as we cannot track the IP usage and assignment properly.

Also, is there a typo on http://www.hostmist.com/xen-vps-germany.html ?

On that page, Monsoon is listed as $6 /mth

  13. Swap on Xen is the same as the guaranteed so if it’s 512MB then it’s 512MB.

I’ll fix it on the new site. Yes that’s a typo should be $7 a month $6 is if you pay yearly.

  15. Oh and any chance you’ll be providing a Debian 32bit version anytime soon on your German VPS?

    October 31, 2010 @ 9:10 pm | Reply
  16. Dear ovidiu,

The main node is running an 64bit operating system so we prefer to offer 64bit templates for VPS to avoid issues. We can provide you with Debian 32bit on request.

We always keep resources free on each node in case an client wants to upgrade but you may to have to move to another node if there are not enough resources left for the upgrade as we do not oversell our nodes.

What did you use to fill out the order form? If your order was marked as fraud, the best thing to do is submit a ticket asking for a manual review at which you did. We asked for some form of identification to verify your information since your account was marked as fraud by our system and after manual review. This information is used to verify that you are legitimate and helps prevent fraudulent transactions and / or abusive users.

We apoligize for any inconveniences this may have caused you, but hope that you understand the reasoning as to why we ask for such information.

  19. Looking at Hetzner I noticed they get their 100% of their power from hydro, meaning that it is a pretty green energy source. That should be a pitch for their German datacenter. I have a client who was looking for green hosting, and I couldn’t offer it because most US datacenters get their power from at least some coal or oil…this is great!
