HostMonkey - $5 128MB OpenVZ VPS

Update December 2011 — HostMonkey was sold to WebRulon in Oct 2010, and they have just turned off their website in November.

HostMonkey Via this WHT offer. HostMonkey is a relatively new hosting company (domain registered since April 2010). They are advertising their new cheap VPS plan on WHT, starting at $5/month and you get

  • 128MB guaranteed/256MB burstable memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 100GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

From their “Infrastructure” page they are using HostDime in Orlando FL. One of the guy there “amaZe” was the same guy behind Nixism before it was sold to HostDime.

  3. Was on live support to these guys a couple of weeks back – They didn’t seem like the brightest apple in the basket. When I asked for a test file they said they would need to set one up – When I asked what was taking so long they told they were uploading it via FTP. I suggested they use wget. LOL

  7. hmmm surprising that one needs to upload a test file to the server, tell them they can create a huge dummy test file under 1 second using this command:

    #time dd if=/dev/zero of=test.bin bs=1000000000 count=1

  • Do not use LowEndBox for support issues. Go to your hosting provider and issue a ticket there. Coming here saying "my VPS is down, what do I do?!" will only have your comments removed.
