May i know what is the average load allowed? Because there seems to be other providers who say 4 core but still only allow a load of below 1.0 when theoreticaly it could go up to 3.0 without problems.

    • Answered in ticket, there is no set maximum loads, it’s all fair-share as long as this policy is not abused.

I just spent the last 24 hours setting up servers on their service and I couldn’t be happier ! The support was pretty fantastic before I even purchased anything. Post sales support was just as awesome and the 2 gentlemen I dealt with (Alexander and Andrew) were so pleasant and helpful to work with.

They even made recommendations for monitoring my sites and servers when I was worried about load average.

Their service is the main reason I decided to try them out and now I’m thanking my stars that I did. Now I’m consolidating all my servers on their platform. They’ve pretty much got me for life if this is how they treat their customers !

This company is absolute garbage: I made a ticket about internet speed being terrible, proved multiple ways that its terribly slow, and they just decline my problem. They keep saying the internet is fine, blah blah.. take a look yourself you tell me what you think. This is speedtest.net ran from the box using a python script thats available online.

    http://www.speedtest.net/result/3804658736.png

Supposedly the server is in Atlanta and has a 10GB uplink… however my results dont even say hostUS as the provider, and Kansas certainly isnt Atlanta. My home internet performs better than this garbage.

    October 3, 2014 @ 7:36 pm | Reply
    • Andrew:

You are supposed to choose an Atlanta location. Not Kansas.

And, as always, speedtest.net results are not accurate.

        • Stephen Hendricks:

regardless of which server you choose to get your speedtest from, it still tells your where YOU are located in relation to the test server, and what the host ISP is, which the host ISP was always blank, and the location was in KANSAS!! stop lying.

          October 14, 2014 @ 2:28 am | Reply
          • Andrew:

Guess you are a bit confused here. Speedtest.net relys on MaxMind’s IP GeoLocation data, and it takes *ages* to be updated (yes, I mean up to 3 months). If the IP is not in their database, the ISP will (of course) be blank and the location will be right in the middle of USA (Lebanon, Kansas to be exact).

That’s why I would never use a GeoIP database to determine the server location. My France Server’s IP once got geolocated to Switzerland.

            October 14, 2014 @ 8:05 am | Reply
    • We have new ARIN IP Allocations, IP Geolocation is not set, using a server is Kansas will not provide good results.

  46. I general, I’ve been really happy, even most likely purchasing a second VPS today. Unfortunately, there was a fairly significant outage (6+ hours) at the Atlanta Data Center. During this time, very little information was provided other than, “We are currently investigating a major network issue in Atlanta, we are working with our network provider to restore our full network as soon as possible. Updates will follow in emails sent to all Atlanta customers.”

No updates other than the above were provided throughout the entire outage, and at no point was an ETA for restoral of services given. Additionally, after the outage, I received this email message: “Full email will be sent with further details and RFO, plus details of service credits etc.” No full email was ever sent with further details and RFO, however.

A week or two later while enquiring about a different issue, I was given 3-days credit for the outage, but never did see any explanation of what happened to cause the outage, or how HostUS was going to prevent it from happening in the future.

While this sounds like an overly negative review, and the outage was quite substantive, I’ll repeat that I’ve been satisfied enough to be seriously considering purchasing another VPS from HostUS.
