Bought one of their 3GB deals they had a few months back, when they were under the name “StormVZ”. It was a great deal, with a great network and speeds… I had no use for it, so I didn’t pay any longer… In short, great services… I’d recommend them.

I took 3072MB RAM few days ago. (should be IO3G by the way, a little typo on the offer).

Running cPanel for several websites. So far it’s been great, I guess SSD-Cache really helps for my big MySQL databases. Oh and I love their network speed!
    Few benchmarks if anyone interested:

    Hi
    few questions:
    Is TUN/TAP, PPP available?
Are the 5 IPv6 addresses available right after setup or do I have to request them?
Do I have to pay taxes/VAT as EU citizen?

    Thanks.
    Regards

    • Hello,

      – You can enable TUN/TAP from the VPS CP

      – IPv6s are not automatically assigned, please submit a ticket.

      – We do not charge VAT currently as we are not VAT registered (though this may change soon).

If you have any more questions let us know!

I’ll actually consider taking 2! 1 LEB-VZ2048 for replacement of a bad performing VPS in the USA and 1 OpenVZ.IO – IO3G for my Dutch websites.

Any special deal on this, both for annual payment? Or would you be interested in sponsoring the Dutch National Support Site for an open source content management system in exchange for a logo&link?

If it doesn’t prohibit the application in their AUP, assume yes until told otherwise. Patrick isn’t very apt on suspending VPSes on the fly for causing excessive CPU usage, so if you do something that ultimately affects other people, I believe that he should let you know.

That’s because Java is very very intense on hardware. You need a minimum of 1Gb of RAM just for a couple of people on 1 server.

TF2, CS:S, GMod and so on are the complete opposite.
I’m currently running 7 SourceEngine servers on my 2GB VPS from ServerHub – problem is I’m starting to hit limits with a lot of players on the servers so will be taking up Patrick on his 5GB deal at the end of the month.

How long will this offer go on for?

          June 12, 2013 @ 3:27 pm | Reply
        • As above, minecraft mainly hits Disk IO hard due to bad code for plugins etc. which bloat the system.

This offer will go on for a fair few weeks depending on node availability

good provider all round. i’ve been suspended twice but with good reason. if you make it worse for others you should get pulled right? i’ve had 2 for playing with in hopes of moving from current provider (crappy people but our radio software works 24/7) and the specs have been great for playing with other stuff too. it’s not going to work out for our radio setup for the number of issues seemingly down to openVZ although no concrete info. considering buying more tonight for personal use, or b/w upgrade if possible (getting fibre to the office our usage has exploded)

i think matey boy means emails not tickets – when you get an email about the suspension you go to hit the email addys listed in the email (i did the first time) and it fails. but it’s kinda obvious to go to the client area when it doesn’t work, but i’m not sticking up for him, just saying.

    anyways
recommended, worth a punt. sometimes one just has to know when VPS ain’t the tool for the job.

Just been a customer for a few days but their support is slow. It takes hours to get a response from them about your services. The main reason I am even demanding support is because their solus is offline and they have to manually submit changed. Been waiting quiet a few hours now just to get a vps’ os reinstalled. Service seems pretty speedy though.

    June 19, 2013 @ 1:52 am | Reply
    • The only reason support is delayed is because of Solus being offline. We’re normally quick to our toes (I’m sure others can vouch for this) but there has been a huge back log and we follow in order.

      June 19, 2013 @ 4:45 pm | Reply
      • Rob:

Shouldn’t this be when your support responses are faster? Clients cannot manage their servers on the fly becaus the Solus is down, I would think manpower would be increased during this time. I have one ticket that took 8 hours to told me to use Solus, then 10 minutes later you took Solus down. The next ticket was almost a 12 hour wait just for a response. I am not sure what others are experiencing but I have 3 services with this company and have experienced slow support from the start.

        June 20, 2013 @ 8:51 pm | Reply
        • Most people don’t need Solus, the only use of Solus is that our Client Area/Billing Panel doesn’t have is Reinstall and rDNS.

Serial console, graphs, reboot is all available from the Client Area.

    Patrick,

I am offended about your reaction to Rob.
I am developing and service professional services and use the image install sometimes more than once a day. Being depended on you for reinstalling and having to wait until you get to servicing my request is not working for me. I have to much experience with those practices. I is not what we contracted and for us i will not suffice, it will be a reason for me to cancel our services contracted!
I thought I stept on a train, but now you tell us no it is a horse, but to comfort you I will make train noises… Then you go on in saying it does not matter, because most people do not like the speed with which a train runs. Let me tell you I am not most people, and I doubt Rob is (a bit over the edge, but you get my drift?)
I have 5 vps’es at Iniz and was really satisfied up to the moment you brought down Solus. I raised a ticket about it, your response made me believe you would bring it up again any time soon and it kept me quit. Reading your to Rob response I sincerely doubt this cause of action. Please tell me: when can we expect the Solus VPS or an alternative interface (with matching cloud functionality) back up?

On one hand Patrick says: “Most people don’t need Solus…”

And on the other hand he says: “The only reason support is delayed is because of Solus being offline… but there has been a huge back log and we follow in order”

It appears that a “huge” number of people need Solus.

      Constructive suggestions:

1.) Put full info about Solus being down and your suggested workarounds in the Knowledgebase. How much time would that really take? Maybe 20 min?
2.) If you’ve got a ticket backlog, inform those with waiting tickets of an approximate time you’ll look at their ticket. Some of us actually have work to do and clients to assuage.
3.) Try a bit of triage, i.e. many tickets will take 30 sec. to resolve (like an OS reinstall.) Just clear out the easy ones right away. You’ll have many more satisfied customers than with the FIFO approach.

      Patric,

I suspect you are also somewhat frustrated by the situation.

But again: I know and knew exactly what the standard interface offers as functionality. I miss the little bit extra!

You just disabled, without any information on your website. Tone is correct, if you would have communicated (better) at least your world would be less hectic…

Please change your demeanor and tell me how long this service degradation will continue? Or if this is indefinite, how you are going to compensate customers for who this absence is a deal breaker?

      • The VPS CP page clearly displays a notice stating it’s down and requests people to email or submit ticket to get things done.

We have no ETA and if you look around all other *sensible* hosts have also had there Solus down ever since Sunday.

        June 22, 2013 @ 11:25 am | Reply
        • Tone:

Patrick – Iniz sent out an email on May 22 (one month ago) announcing a new URL for the user control panel: https://controlvps.net. Sending one’s browser to this link results in a warning and then the message: “Executing in an invalid environment for the supplied user”.

Similarly, if you click on the tab within the Iniz Client Billing Area entitled: “VPS Control Panel”, you receive exactly the same message and nothing more.

I fail to see how this is a clear message “stating it’s down and requests people to email or submit a ticket to get things done.

You required that I submit a ticket which took 7 hours to respond to in order to receive a URL explaining the situation: “http://controlvps.net/”, however the contents of this web page make no mention of the workarounds available on the Iniz Client Area Services Information page.

It would be helpful to look at this situation from the customer’s perspective. We are all frustrated by the Solus vulnerabilities, and I appreciate Iniz taking the safe and sensible approach. However, some decent workaround instructions on your website and a bit less snark on LEB would go a long way towards easing the pain for both Iniz and its customers.

As Ruben implies, your potential new customers will doubtless take note of the demeanor of your replies. But it’s your business and I’m just a lowly customer…what do I know?

    He Patric,

My frustration is that my service is degraded. It has become my problem because the responses (like yours) hinder me in my work…. Because of that I want to understand and I have started to look at the problem. The more I get informed the less I understand the responses.

I think you run hell of an interesting hosting. I really like the price/quality of your servers, last month after some try out first, I have contract 5 vps’es at Iniz. My state of mind is very positive and also I recognize your willingness to act on behave of security. In my eyes it is a mark of quality in line with the quality you offer.

But I am an Internet specialist for over 15+ years I have been involved in developing, building and managing Internet services. All I see is a panicking herd. Based on flimsy information and a attack at two hosting companies many IAAS hosting vendors are running with the herd and copying each other. In my eyes, without thinking or really assessing the situation. The perpetrator can be marked as a kind of terrorist, though I doubt that was his intention….

Being IAAS hosting provider is not my specialty, my line of business is more that of Application Hosting. So what happens to Solus comes very close to my field of expertise. I do get the panic at the hosting companies. Our business is Internet, we know it is open and as such comes with risk. Knowing how to asses and judge them is big part of our job? I do not get how all but a small portion of you estimate the risk.

I do not know Solus code. So I do not know if the use mvc. But I have read nothing about javascript or cross-linking vulnerabilities in Solus. In my response I regard those as not a problem.
I have seen the ‘vulnerability’ it simply was an undeclared integer query string. Because this integer was not casted it could be substituted for any other character. So a HPPT attack trying out different query strings is the vulnerability… Which if it succeeds can result in not anticipated DB feedback.
An extra security Solus could build in is some more indirect DB connections through stored procedures or a self made connection class that checks on the db response so only successfully responses are processed (or use Zend).
But from what I have seen this vulnerability is such a small deal that it can be mediated with cntr+H (string replace) in all code. I saw the Solus auditor response and I get their indecisiveness: this was an issue, but rumors about other vulnerabilities is like fighting windmills, what can you do? So the only solution is some external validation…. I know these kind of processes: the validator has to prove his value and as such has find a lot off bullshit, just to validate the fact he is selected as auditor. Assessing his conclusion and the decision management about what and what not to correct will cost time, then the solution has to be built and tested. This could take weeks, if not months (depending on the code base)…

Then my brains hurt, because you all reaction is so over the top: in regard to your standard hosting practice and because any attack can only be executed behind the validation wall (as a Iniz customer).
Look at the implementation. Solus is implemented behind an user/logon wall. Everyone (serious about their business) puts this functionality behind a SSL connection. I do not think invalid ssl certificates is an issue, certainly not something Solus could be responsible for… So man in the middle or sniffing for usernames / passwords is ruled out.
I do not run Solus so I do not know their php code, but they must have a logon validation check at every page? So any HTTP attack, injecting put, get and post request can only succeed when for the attacking ip-adress there is an administered user session at the server. That means any potential hacker is also a hosting client!!! Someone who payed you to hire a VPS. They could use false names, but you have their bank account, so in the circumstantial case something happens you can guarantee the hacker will be identified ones you have reported them to the police. This seems to me to be the ultimate detergent? I can not imagine a kid or cracker to willingly take that risk, but if they do identification is certain… And look what happened at the first hack, the perpetrator was almost immediately identified!
Why not keep the functionality up and put up, besides the ssd advertisement you promote, an application flash message about the Solus breach and warning that you regard all suspicious attempts as criminal behavior which you will report to the police?

If this would not be to your satisfaction: put the logon wall in a DMZ behind an extra firewall logon… As customer it would mean I have to validate twice, but I can live with that, and that way you can guarantee (for yourself) that only paying customers have access?

I called degrading services a dumb response, why? I my eyes your focus is off:
    1) in light of the Solus vulnerability I have read about, every windows node you host is a bigger risk!
    2) the credentials you supply at the registration of every new customer is hilarious (in light of the current power of cpu’s and their decryption potential). Rather than to focus on the product behind the wall I would advise you to focus more on the wall itself and how potential easy it is to get through….

    • These are most likely none, managed VPS. What I mean is that INIZ is not responsible for the software you install, it’s up to you. The only thing you have to bare in mind is that you don’t have to abuse the SLA if you don’t want to be suspended.

You pre install the CentOS… it will come with Apache, MySql and the rest of the libraries you can configure because they’re free of charge and tutorial are many online.
I would recommend installing centOs preloaded with Cpanel/WHM then customization will be very easy for you.

  66. I will be honest with everyone 5 months, I did know nothing about VPSes but I was ready to go in for them. I decided to take the one of there plans. I order for cpanel but in a few days I was suspended due to abuse of the SLA. Believe me I was honestly in a bad mood and mad at INIZ. I got in touch with and they answered promptly inclusive of showing me proof. Now if you ask me whether I would go away, I would say if they plan to build a long term serving company, am planing to be part it. They have been there for me in the hardest moments. Today I want to try the 75 SSD cache plan.

If you had SSD in these do you think you would allow Minecraft servers? I love the amount of RAM and location in the Netherlands but need an SSD or SSD cached. Am using greenvaluehost who are a great company, but I’d like another server a closer to home.

I wish to bot multiple WoW clients on your VPS’s. Is that against your terms of agreement and if not, do you have plans that support at least 2 WoW cliens to be run on 1 VPS? Thanks!

Scam. They kept closing my application with no notice. When I gave up trying to figure out why and submitted a ticket they claimed it was CPU usage abuse. Problem is when I just opened the application and left it idle (not running) they still closed it. And not just on one server. They would close it on every VM it was on at the same time.

after praising these lot early on in the opening, i must say you dont get the resources you pay for your never going to use 3 4 6 gig ram as he will suspend your vps for cpu abuse which is nonsense i now run the same instances else where on smaller vps and never been suspended since i moved from iniz only leads me to believe it his way a douchebag oh he liked to suspend all the vps i had and not just the so called cpu abusing one i had ovh is better with the smallest package

We do not suspend clients for using their RAM, we also provide a process log for CPU breaches and give clients 24 hours to resolve it before suspension. You cannot compare other providers unless you’re comparing the same CPU as well, others may use better processors and as such lower usage. (IE. E3 vs E5)

Suspensions would have only occured if you failed to resolved the issue after several notifications.

The only time I can recall mass suspension on multiple VMs was when we randomnly received a influx of people hosting “runescape” bots all using full cores 24×7.
