California-based hosting company InMotion Hosting announced today that they had acquired well-known LEB provider RamNode.

An official press release will come out next week, but in a post on LowEndTalk, Sunil from InMotion said:

  • RamNode was acquired in early February in an assets-only sale.
  • InMotion intends to continue running RamNode as-is with no major changes as far as “branding, consolidation or changes to the core product line”.
  • All RamNode staff have moved to InMotion, include Nick (@Nick_A), RamNode’s founder.

RamNode was a long-time player in the LEB market, dating back to 2012.  Their line includes “standard” KVMs, “premium” KVMs (with better cores), and massive high-storage KVMs.  They also sell VDS (dedicated-core KVMs), OpenVZ, block volumes, and cPanel hosting.

RamNode’s infrastructure is based on OpenStack which has allowed them tremendous flexibility to innovate and bring features seen more in the higher ends of the market (Digital Ocean, Vultr, Linode, etc.) down to LEB levels.

It’s great news for the LowEnd community that InMotion plans to immediate changes to the RamNode operation, which has a reputation for solidity and performance.  Congratulations to both parties on theri transaction and best wishes for continued success!

Their prices are not really LEB prices though – as far as I recall, they were always pricier than the other LEB hosts.

  2. It’s great to see InMotion pick up a respected top provider here on LET/LEB. On top of that, for Andrew writing this up. Industry news should be shared here more often. I thoroughly enjoy reading and learning and staying up to date.

The problem is RAMnode forces all US customers to follow stupid GDPR rules and will ban websites who host pages that are subject to GDPR takedown request… it is totally insane for AMerican company

I hope Inmotion changes the policies to be more freedom cuz I cannot trust RAMnode anymore from that
