LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

JBoost - $4.99 512MB OpenVZ VPS

Update April 2011: JBoost has closed their business and migrated all clients to BustNet. See this WHT thread for detail.

JBoost Via this WHT offer. JBoost, formally known as “JavaV”, have some VPS packages to offer. Starting from $4.99/month (direct order link):

  • 512MB memory
  • 20GB storage
  • 1000GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/vePortal

Yes, if it looks like a Burst reseller, it probably is. Servers will be in Scranton PA in this case, and their ToS page confirms it. I am only listing them here because it is actually cheaper than buying directly from Burst. Again a new company with domain registered back in March 2010. It claims to be “JavaV” since 2007 according to their About page. However “javav.net”, that redirects to jboost.com, was only registered in September 2010. The About page also claims 2 staffs on billing, 5 staffs in sales and 8 in support + the CEO herself, however their WHOIS info is masked so I have no way to find out where their Philadelphia office is.

      Wow, their site is slow!

      • Our site has nothing to do with the performance of the network, as it’s not even in the same state as our clients. We keep our jboost.com on one server/ network – jbpanel.com on another and our clients with BurstNet/ Scranton datacenter.

As for it being slow – it may have to do with the images on our homepage/ new design. We built a new and improved design, but it seems when having hundreds of people on our site at once, slows down the performance – something we’ve been looking into. We’ll definitely be on a new server by next week though because of the amount of traffic we get.

If it helps you work out the problem, the page loaded nearly instantly for me, but (as my Firefox defaults to) without Javascript.

Turning the Javascript on increased the load time to 5+ seconds. It was Jboost.com content taking ages, JBPanel.com is fast.

That below is taking 8.3 seconds to load, it's pretty big (2MB in size) and is the cause of the slow loading time.

  3. Hello,
I saw this post, and I thought I’d chime in to clear up some things.
1.) Yes, we are a BurstNet reseller, and unlike other providers, we are debt free and do not plan on taking your money and running. We pay our server bills ON TIME. We are also proud to be a BurstNet reseller, and will not hide it.
2.) We use to buy servers directly from Dell and colocate with them in a Philadelphia Datacenter. As said in our “about us” page – we found out that “quality and affordable” was a much bigger market, so we recently changed in July.
3.) Our Domain “JavaV.net” was originally created in September of 2007 by me with GoDaddy. We had an abusive client at the time – and abuse reports we’re sent to GoDaddy instead to directly the Datacenter. As a result, GoDaddy took control of our domain and held it hostage until it expired. We we’re not able to register it until this year again. All of our clients that we’re and are still with us had a private login system for support tickets and had other methods of contacting us. We always had backup plans for our backup plans, and always will.
4.) We indeed have 15 in-house (NON-OUTSOURCED) in our Blue Bell office, right outside of Philadelphia. For an exact address, contact me via my private email and we can discuss it if you with. It’s in a very private location. Look up Blue Bell, PA and you will know what I’m taking about. You don’t have to believe me, but this is not something I would lie about.

If you have any other questions about JBoost, JavaV, our location, staff or anything else, just email me!
    Thanks,
    Tiffany

PS: I assume that the owner of this site will give away my location after I post this (IP address). Dresher/ Upper Dublin is about 15 minuets from Blue Bell, 25 minuets from Philadelphia.

The irony of that is that some of us have requested that and LEb won’t/hasn’t done it in the past.

They’re also charging more for the Cpanel license which makes up for the difference of the VPS package. BurstNet is $5.95 + $12.95 = 18.90, while JBoost is $4.99 + $13.99 = $18.98, so they are almost identical to BurstNet if purchased with a Cpanel license.

May I know how many IPs in this package? Burst.net and Nocster.net are offering 2 IPs. It would be much better if free control panels are included in the choices upon ordering. Very competitive price!

    • I thought I would let you know that Webmin is now an option when checking out for a VPS.

  6. As stated below, LowEndBox is not used for support issues, and I’m sure it means sales questions as well, but since it’s posted I will answer your questions.
All of the VPS’s come with the same features as BurstNet, so it comes with 2 IP’s, and can order IPv6 after your VPS is setup.

BurstNet does not offer free control panels right now, but we are currently testing all of the different options out there, and will offer one within the next two weeks after we decide which one. Since it’s not automated, nor BurstNet will have control of installing them, we would be charging a $5 – $10 fee (one-time fee) for the installation of a free control panel.

I ordered a 5$ VPS for testing purposes, how long does setup time take?

    November 2, 2010 @ 5:49 pm | Reply
    • Usually within 1 – 4 hours, but no more than 12 hours. It will only take that long if we recive a large amount of orders, like we have been these past two days (probably because of this site – we have received an enormous amount of traffic from LowEndBox.com)

This is a scam, like most other OpenVZ providers.
I got a vps with 256M memory but looking at /proc/user_beancounters shows that there is 64M process limit. So you are screwed if any process goes over this, it’s killed even you have extra 192 MB memory. I talked to them and they won’t fix this.

So as usual, on OpenVZ watch for these limits at /proc/user_beancounters, they are never advertised and will make your apps fail silently. Or buy XEN.

    • This is not true. All VPS’s come with a minimum of 512MB Guaranteed ram, and we would NEVER we will not fix it. Please email me your ticket ID to tiffany@jboost.com so I can see what is going on here. We have many many VPS customers who have not had a problem what-so-ever.
