Today we have launched our Top Providers poll for the Q2 period of 2013. For those unfamiliar with our top providers poll, it’s a chance for the community to showcase and vote for the best provider. We have ran these polls on and off for for the past few years. Prometeus have came first on the last three occasions. It will be interesting to see how the rankings change.
Unfortunately our wiki is currently down, will be back up this week, so you cannot see the previous results easily. You can however see some of the results by viewing these threads on LowEndBox. Good luck to all!
Mini DeadPool:
Fiber Volt
Current Status: None responsive
FiberVolt first appeared on LowEndBox in April 2011 offering a $5.53 256MB OpenVZ VPS in San Diego. Alex from San Diego and Victor from Melbourne Australia appeared to be running the show. They went on to be featured an additional 5 times. Only last June, we wrote a review on their service. In it we noted that overall they were a good host, with decent performance and quick support. FiberVolt were known for their beautiful website and iphone app.
In june, customers began reporting that that the company had gone ‘bellyup’. Even though their website is up, customers have not been able to contact them for a while.
BetaVPS
Current Status: Website Parked / Everything down
BetaVPS were featured once on LowEndBox offering a $5 Monthly 1024MB RAM OpenVZ VPS in Canada and Germany. Despite my better judgement, and concern over the use of Dos in their name, I went ahead and posted that offer in February. Reviews from the start were just terrible. When Daniel sent in another offer a month later, we ignored it.
In April/May they went down for good.
Compared with the olden days, we do not seem to be getting as many deadpools. If we have missed anyone, we are deeply sorry! I’ve searched extensively on both here and on LowEndTalk to find hosts which have entered the deadpool. It is possible one of the older hosts could have entered without it being reported. We are working on a script to monitor hosts who we feature on here. This should alert us to activities suggesting that they may have deadpooled.
That’s it for now. We have a few cool things up our sleeves which we hope to announce soon. If I can help with anything, or if you have any feedback, do email me at liam @ thisdomain.

Only two! Wow not bad so far, keep it coming, I love the dead pool posts :)
Wait till September ;)
Fibervolt’s site seems to be online and accepting orders.
Reworded a little.
at least betavps got their name right, it was just a ‘beta phase’, and it seems it did not work out
I was going to order from this website called “Lucky Servers”, until I noticed the PayPal email that’s used on it was the exact same one that I paid for a VPS from BetaVPS/Dos Servers. He (Daniel) even forgot to change the name on the PayPal account from Dos Servers to Lucky Servers. Luckily, I never ordered from him after he left everybody high and dry with BetaVPS.
PS Shouldn’t Robert Clarke’s ServerCrate make it to the (soon to be) dead-pool list? But oh ya, he’d go cry to his mommy about being made fun of…
Was that you on WHT? Was funny how the guy tried to deny his past despite hard evidence. I for one wouldn’t trust a service run by someone that bad with details.
He is reselling servers by the looks of it
Nice post, nice to say that LEB is starting to feel ‘in control’ again, +1 to Liam
RamNode and Prometeus seem to be the strongest contenders for this quaryer’s crown so far. I haven’t used Prometeus yet, but RamNode certainly deserves a lot of praise! (Not to take away from other good providers, I’m just very biased.)
Add another one to the Q2 deadpool: IcelandVPS, featured on LEB in October 2012.
I canceled my VPS the first week in May and their domain expired in late May so the deadpool event happened sometime between those dates.

Seems Iceland VPSes still exists but for now via main Netstall website
Add Vortex-vps into list :)
Vortex-Vps now transform to – http://serverstreet.net – as well I find :-D
Add 5ite to that list. Their own website is up and running, but my VPS went offline 4 days ago and their support tickets appear to be nothing more than cut and paste to each customer who complains. See this link:-

They claim a problem at their Germany datacentre, but state they cannot access backups either. I’m wondering if they have lost access to their datacentre? perhaps not paid a bill?
