LayeredLink - €4.90 384MB OpenVZ VPS in Germany

LayeredLink Bernd from LayeredLink wrote to me about their newly launched VPS hosting in Germany at the beginning of this month. There’s a choice between OpenVZ vServers and KVM vServers, although only the cheapest OpenVZ plan meets the listing requirement at €4.90/month (~USD$6.40). Direct signup link here.

  • 384MB memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 1000GB/month data transfer on 100Mbps (then unmetered on 10Mbps)
  • 1x vCPU core
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Payment in PayPal or credit card. Servers with Hetzner in Germany. Although the ordering page is on secure.layeredlink.com, there is actually no SSL to protect your information. Domain has been registered since 2008, however I can’t seem to find any indication that they have been selling hosting for more than a year. Domain info is also masked out by privacy protection. While that prevents me from digging more on their background, that might also suggest that there might be something to hide. Both NS are also hosted on the same server, which is not a good practise (although commonly done by some of the low end providers here).

I also can’t seem to find anything about LayeredLink on WHT. They do, however, post advertising posts on need-help.org — often associated with nulled scripts and other “dark side of the Internet”. Well, with a username like w4rez, I am not really sure whether you want to rest your sites there. Update: see Bernd’s rebuttals here.

Anyway. It’s actually a post that was written 2 weeks ago but was reluctant to post. I’ll be posting some other new provider offers later today.

    • Its a Post-Box, not a visitable address.

You can now-a-days get post-box’s online, and get the contents of letters scanned and emailed to you, and parcels redirected.

  3. So many hosts with no SSL on the ordering pages these days! Stay away from any host that doesn’t have this IMHO.

    Hello,

I want to make some comments on some misunderstanding facts.
Our domain was registered on 2008 year, and we started offer services on
2009 as you can see at Web Archive at
    http://wayback.archive.org/web/20090415000000*/http://layeredlink.com

We started as Hetzner reseller on 2009 and actually, with our colocation
    servers on Hetzner Online AG.

We currently have a free banner of our international website at official
Anonymous forum What is the Plan – http://whatis-theplan.org (they also recommend our
services to the community as we keep the privacy).

Our main customers niche are from Russia and Ukraine. Offers on Web
Hosting Talk will be announced soon as the new website be available.

We have highly qualified system administrators for Linux, Unix and Windows
server management, complex networks and server configurations (Sysadmins
