    • I’m afraid not – we don’t have any standard services in France any more, only the SSD plans.

I liked the MiniVPS offers in the past very much.
But i think SSD Storage on a low end vps makes no sense, because performance benefit from ssd is something for big DB servers / systems that need much IOs at the same time.
if i had the choice between low end ssd vps and a cheaper hdd systems, i would take the hdd system.

I’m using their France SSD node for website hosting. And I’m really happy with it. Excellent performance.

    Random uncached test (seek rate):
    # ~/ioping -R /

    — / (simfs /vz/private/XXXX) ioping statistics —
    10924 requests completed in 3000.1 ms, 4657 iops, 18.2 mb/s
    min/avg/max/mdev = 0.0/0.2/1.1/0.0 ms

    Sequential cached tests:
    # ~/ioping -L -q -C -c 10 /

    — / (simfs /vz/private/1485) ioping statistics —
    10 requests completed in 9001.8 ms, 12407 iops, 3101.7 mb/s
    min/avg/max/mdev = 0.1/0.1/0.1/0.0 ms

    # dd if=/dev/zero of=/tmp/test bs=16k count=64k conv=fdatasync
    65536+0 records in
    65536+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 3.67301 s, 292 MB/s

Not a single reboot since I’ve subscribed (105 days uptime so far). For whole time only a single network issue lasted for around 30 minutes.
Support was also great so far answering to all my tickets within 15 minutes.
Martin and Simon are great and friendly persons.

I strongly recommend MiniVPS as their customer, they are great!

PS: @Martin, I thought you were about to close France location. Seems like you’ve decided to keep it?

@Frickler: it’s good for example for small websites.

I had a LEB with them that hosted TeamSpeak3. They suspended my account for causing 0.5 load averages for a few hours per day. Ticketed asking reason for suspension, they shoot back asking me why my server is causing so much load. Overall ridiculousness. Still have the Munin graphs.

        January 18, 2013 @ 5:06 am | Reply
        • We’ll suspend an account if the problem is severe enough to cause issues elsewhere and so that the issue is stopped and customers can get in touch. We didn’t terminate your account. Not sure if you got the problem resolved via tickets however if you simply gave up there’s little we could have done for you.

    • We have pretty much closed all of our French stuff however 1 remained for customers who absolutely had to retain a location in France :)

I wonder if it is possible to upgrade my current OVH box to that 1GB offer keeping the old IPs and stuff inside CT?
Not sure if I need that. But need to know if it is possible at all before considering. :)

        January 18, 2013 @ 11:22 am | Reply
        • Drop a ticket in and we’ll see what can be done :)

    • Not really – we run backups on that node directly :)

What distros do you have for the VPSs? One of my current hosts has Kloxo ready to be installed. Do you have something similar?

    January 20, 2013 @ 11:20 pm | Reply
    • Yep – we have a Kloxo template available as a reinstall template. Apart from that we have all the regulars like CentOS, RH, Debian, Ubuntu etc.

Any limits on number of IPs? How much per IP?
Any daily limits on sending SMTP based emails? Do you provide cpanel?

    January 21, 2013 @ 4:51 am | Reply
    • Hi Rafal. No limit to the number of IP’s provided you have proper justification. You can discuss the price for extra IP’s with billing (depends on your usage). No SMTP limits with it being a VPS and no, we don’t provide cPanel.

      January 21, 2013 @ 11:45 am | Reply
      • Thanks Martin. I am opening an account. How do I get more IPs?

        February 1, 2013 @ 1:45 pm | Reply
        • I am really confused with your service. Seems like this is more for Linux Savy guys. There is no way to easily setup SMTP or domains (like CPanel). I got this quick reply from your support:

“We do not provide any form of webhosting control panel.

If you require this you’ll need to install cPanel/WHM (or similar) and order a license from another provider.”

          Any comment?

You should look for a fully managed vps or a cpanel-directadmin-plesk reseller hosting package. VPS advertised here are lowend prices-resources, fully un-managed for prices as low as possible.

    • Hi Bhupesh,

We don’t allow gameservers directly however if you drop a ticket or email in we can probably sort something out.
