Via this WHT offer. NWA Bytes is currently offering 20% off life-time discount on all their VPS packages, when you use the promo code 20off. Two VPS packages from them would fit in my listing criteria, and the more expensive one, “NWA-VPS2”, would be $6.39/month after the discount. Ordering link.
- 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
- 25GB storage
- 200GB/month data transfer
- OpenVZ/SolusVM
Their data center is located in Salt Lake City in Utah. The IP address of their website does resolve to CogentCo and Insta VPS so it’s possible NWA Bytes is reselling their service. After all they are running a business on a 3 day old domain on a non-functional website with lots of links are missing. Interestingly though, that their Twitter account has been around since June 2009 — same name as the guy who registered the domain, but points to .com instead of .net. If you then go to the .com site — it’s just nothing but a spam blog. I guess “Kevin” might have lost the domain (forgot to renew, d’oh!) and is now trying to quickly re-establish the business on the .net domain.
If it is indeed the case, you’ll hope that he would not forget renewing the servers that run all the VPS :)

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
Their website is under maintenance mode. That cant be good, SO much for ordering.
*shrug* Might be flooded with visitors from here.
$6.39 256MB OpenVZ?
Flooded….?
The conspiracy theory is that Kevin (registrant of the domain) lost the .com version so quickly set up the .net version without the actual website.
As noted in the original post at WHT “A special page has been setup as we are designing a new site for NWA Bytes”. The site was under maintenance.
A domain squatter did grabbed the .com. My mistake for over looking the expiration.
Nwahosting was the original name, extending the services i renamed to Nwabytes. From 2005 to present I have provide hosting services.
