PhoenixVPS - $4/Month 256MB XEN VPS in Phoenix, Arizona

Marc, from PhoenixVPS, has sent us in four different VPS plans located at the PhoenixNAP datacenter in Phoenix, Arizona.

Business VPS 256 (Xen)

  • 256MB Ram
  • 2 CPU Cores
  • 15GB Diskspace
  • 500GB Bandwidth
  • 25Mbit Port Speed
  • 1 IPv4 Address
  • Xen/SolusVM
  • $4/Month | Order Link
Business VPS 512 (Xen)

  • 512MB Ram
  • 4 CPU Cores
  • 30GB Raid1 Diskspace
  • 1000GB Bandwidth
  • 50Mbit Port Speed
  • 1 IPv4 Address
  • Xen/SolusVM
  • $7/Month | Order Link

PhoenixVPS were formerly known as VPS Node Box (blog post), who appeared on LowEndBox twice before. Reviews on those past threads have normally been good, but over the past few days a few negative reviews have appeared. In my opinion, these reviews were unfair as PhoenixVPS suffered a problem with their payment process. So a few customers overreacted. PhoenixVPS have been a registered business in North Carolina since April 20th 2010. It is also worth noting that SWAP is enabled and that IPv6 addresses can be allocated on request.

Enterprise EXVPS 512 (Xen)

  • 512MB Ram
  • 4 CPU Cores
  • 20GB Raid10 Diskspace
  • 1000GB Bandwidth
  • 50Mbit Port Speed

  • Xen/SolusVM
  • $7/Month | Order Link
Enterprise KVPS 512 (KVM)

  • 512MB Ram
  • 1 CPU Core
  • 20GB Raid10 Diskspace
  • 1000GB Bandwidth
  • 50Mbit Port Speed
  • 1 IPv4 Address
  • KVM/SolusVM
  • $7/Month | Order Link

PhoenixVPS accept payments via Credit/Debit Card, PayPal and Google Checkout. They provide a 99.9& SLA. Hardware DDoS Protection and Hosted DNS is included. Any payments made to Phoenix VPS are non-refundable. Any refunds that they issue are granted on an individual basis at their own discretion. how good is the ddos protection ?

    April 28, 2013 @ 10:48 pm | Reply
    • Attacks are mitigated at the network level, so they won’t reach your VPS. Largest attack that we ever had against a customer was 10.58 Gbps back in March and it was successfully mitigated with no downtime for the customer.

      • john:

interesting… what if the attack continues? will the customer have to pay extra? im sure there has to be a point where you get fed up with it?

also what locations have this feature?

        thank u

also any yearly plans with the protection?

          April 28, 2013 @ 11:27 pm | Reply
        • The 256MB Xen plan is within LEB guidelines, it costs around $40 per year.

All of our plans benefit from DDOS protection, regardless of size.

I’m curious about the low port speeds. Any particular reason?

    April 29, 2013 @ 3:42 am | Reply
    • They are dedicated ports, not shared ports. This way each customer is guaranteed a certain port speed. Sure, it sounds cool to advertise a 1Gbit shared port, however in practice some customers will get more and some less.

      • You are not doing your country any services by misbehaving like this. Most customers from China are good, decent people, however there are always a few rotten apples that can spoil the entire barrel.

You have tried to cross post on several forums, you have posted fake benchmarks, you have performed several DDoS attacks yesterday against a few of our nodes and now you resorted to publicly cursing us out.

If anyone that comes across this is wondering why this is posted here, it is because we have terminated a Mr. Huang ZhiCheng aka. “roiz” from YiChang, CN for filing false chargebacks and abusive behavior. I believe that there is a point where it is not okay anymore to harass and try to publicly humiliate a hosting provider just because that hosting provider didn’t let you do what you wanted.

I have an invoice (3464) with the seller. I submitted a ticket to billing support (PHX514060EXN) on 9/9/2013, advising that the payment went through, but it is not reflecting as PAID. Without responding to the support ticket, the seller CLOSED the ticket, and I responded on 9/11 asking why no response. I then once again noticed that it was CLOSED AGAIN, with no responses, and I reopened it again. I reopened it again TODAY.

Because they have twice closed this ticket (and others in the past) without any response, I have submitted a Paypal dispute for services not rendered, since it has been a while since I had notified them that THEY HAVE THEIR MONEY.

This has also happened to me today. I submitted a paypal payment for a new VPS. Paypal said that the payment was made but the according to Pheonix VPS’s cPanel, the payment was marked as UNPAID.

I submitted a ticket, and it has been 18 hours with no response. I tried calling their # to see if there was any response, all I got as an IVR. I’ll file a dispute with Paypal and credit card company if I don’t hear by Monday.

    Hi Ron,
I just now closed the PayPal dispute. Marc stepped in and resolved it. While it leaves a VERY bad taste when for the third time, tickets were closed without a response, the issue is now ultimately resolved.

My thought is, maybe something with the auto-pay feature in Paypal is messing up the process. That said, I am willing to help Marc out, be a beta tester etc., if he needs any help to get the root cause taken care of.

Make sure you submit a billing ticket to Marc, and keep reopening it if it’s closing out on you, and he will see it. I also asked if maybe something is automatically closing it. If there is, I might can give him some pointers on how to disable auto-closes.

Marc: If there is anything at all that I can do, let me know. Six Sigma guy here, so I’m well-skilled at hunting down issue root causes.

    Have a good day!
