Haris, from PieLayer, sent in several offers for LowEndBox readers. PieLayer has been around since 2010, according to Haris, but only opened its doors in 2012. We featured them before when they operated a brand named ‘NerdyVPS’. PieLayer is a subsidiary of Zaoomba LTD and uses modern hardware with an Intel Xeon E5 CPU, 128GB of RAM, and SSDs in RAID 10 for both speed and redundancy. They have services available in various locations, including Germany and the UK. Everything in San Diego is pure SSD (even though HDD is noted here). Their service offering differs per location, so be sure to take note of the location when ordered. Haris also tells me that PieLayer is going to launch a new website soon. If you decide to give PieLayer a shot, please share your experiences in the comments or at LowEndTalk.com!

Does anyone ever use intovps.com, please share the review..
I use intovps, have 2 servers, 1 of them been with them believe over 5 years since they started, in that 5 years I say about 8 downtimes, but nothing over 15 mins, ticket support within few minutes always. These are the guys that do intodns.com
Hey, there.
I’m certainly interested in the 256mb Frankfurt server, but want to ask one question first. I’m very new to VPS, so there are many things I don’t know, but anyways – why is the price higher if I choose “no control panel”, and why do the other 2 options have different prices as well.
I already have several VPS services from different providers, but this is the first time I see such a choice offered.
Would like to make sure what difference it makes before ordering. All I want is to set up a private OpenVPN server, nothing else that I plan to run on the VPS.
Thanks for any insight!
hey, I have a pieserv VPS, just choose DirectAdmin when you buy, it’s a buck cheaper and you don’t need to use the control panel.
Can highly recommend the PieLayer Frankfurt location: good connectivity (accelerated.de network), good performance, competitive pricing.
Haris responds to tickets quickly and professionally. An issue with conntrack on my node was resolved soon after reporting, works very well now.
you say it’s part of Zaoomba LTD yet that’s connected to Daniel Smith only 2 directors, so who actually owns it?

Could someone please clarify, when a yearly plan references bandwidth/traffic (i.e. 250GB above), is this bandwidth per month, or year? Does this vary from provider-to-provider?
The bandwidth stated on the yearly plans is almost always monthly. AFAIK, SolusVM doesn’t do annual bandwidth accounting, just monthly, so you can be pretty sure you’re looking at 250GB per month here.
I order a DE KVM from these guys. It took around 18 hour after payment to setup. I didn’t mind waiting as I know they like to run checks. I planed on using the server to host a UT99 Game Server. Once I setup the server and gave it a test pings started okay but once a 5v5 CTF got underway pings started to double for no reason and the server went sluggish. after 20-30 seconds it would be fine again. Then when used for a 1v1 myself (UK based) and the other play (base in Finland) got 50-70% packet loss for 3 mins. Then we swapped to another server. This morning I canceled the VPS and opened a ticket to request a refund as I was within the 5 day window and explain it won’t be suitable to what I wanted to use it for. I was told the “network is fine. The issue is your end”. If it was just me with the packet loss I’d accept that. But it wasn’t. I went into more detail but was told that the only reason for the 5 day refund is that if they failed to make the 99.5% up time guarantee. in the ToS it mentions Good Faith. I feel this company has none. So that’s $7 dollars wasted but I did as they expand the ToS. Really the 5 day is more of a scam. As they delivery time is excluded from the 99.5% up time guarantee.
On the plus side he came back to tell me “We dont see any issues with our network Ian.” in 10 minutes. After I replied 6mins later it did take 8 hours for him to say the issue was my end.
Ian,
I am sorry if you feel that we aren’t the right hosting for you but I do have some clarification:
1. There was annoucement on our site regarding delayed setup on Germany nodes due to so many orders.
2. I explained you the reason for 100ms ping in this game that was caused for few min’s. It is due to routing and that ping is quite average. You said it yourself it happened only in those 2-3 min’s interval otherwise is 30-50 ms.
3. Refunds are honored if the servie isn’t as advertised ( in hardware terms and network uptime ). Again, reason why it is that way is explained to you in the ticket.
my 2-3mins was PACKET LOSS. And the other play in Finland had the same packet loss. But as you didn’t see any issues (I mean why would you. Then you’d have to refund me). You’ll just hide behind “Its my right not to refund because everyone in this world is a spam bot trying to get one over on me”. But like I said. Enjoy the $7. I’m now using a smaller VPS and getting better performance from the UT-Server. I guess you’ve over sold and the server bottle necked. As you’ve had so many orders.
The two OpenVZ offers say “NYC”, when the test IP is with ColoCrossing in Buffalo. Buffalo != NYC!!!
Seems the San Diego 256 is out of stock.
Yes it is :). However we do have plenty stock on Buffalo, NY nodes and Germany ones :).
Support OpenVPN Server ? TUN/TAP Support ?
Yes, both :)
Did I need to purchase the control panel for reinstall the OS?
Maybe you can purchase from any other provider and get rebuild :)
Hi, Is there any charge for switching between geo locations, or is it just a new account. Do you offer Debian 6 Minmal , for OS?
Thanks.
You can’t switch between locations. You can only order VPS in every location. We offer Debian 6 Minimal.
Is the offer over?
I cant use the coupon on the 256MB in Fra.
Please order it without code and submit ticket for requested discount if the code is not working.
Didn’t Daniel once own this?
Do not host with PieLayer. I’m looking @ 80% packet loss on a VPS Zero – DE Special server. Either something is wrong with my box, or it seems like they have too much volume.
I am sorry for being late with reply but that is because we had one client who attracted DDoS attack and we mitigated him ASAP.
Worst provider ever. No activation within 12 days, no refund, no answer for days. And no refund from Paypal because it is a virtual service.
I personally replied to your ticket and explained what is the issue at that time. Order has been processed for you and due date was adjusted.
I think very cheap $14/year but is this for only three US locations, the UK, and Germany?
Hi,
I apologize for late reply, yes it is only for those three locations
Thank about 5 offers starting at $14/year in three US locations, the UK, and Germanythis information is very important for me
Worst hoster ever… bought the smallest kvm in germany. setup took allmost a day (lol). Installed was a Centos 6.5 (i have never used yum in my life until now (not even in the vm)). VPS was hacked in about 14 hours. In these 14 hours i was waiting that i get a different OS installed, because i could not reinstall any image (LOL). So a hacker break in that vm, installed postfix (i quess it was installed allready from this hoster) and someone used that vps as spam server. So all the traffic was used in about one night. The support ist pretty bad in such a situation. Responses take about 12-15 hours. Theyr email system is not able to send me emails to my catch-all account. I dunno why. But even the “Password forgotten” email, i couldn’t receive.
They say it was my fault because i used this server to spam emails (LOL) and i broke the TOS…
Pretty bad communication. I quess they have a sequrity problem and someone took my password to break in that vm, if it is not someone at pieserv/pielayer.
I regret using this hoster and can only warn you not to use this hoster. There must be something wrong in that “company”. Please be carefull with that hoster!
And no Haris, i haven’t logged into that vm at all, and NO i did not install ANYTHING! and if you did not install this software, someone broke in that system, and if someone has done this, you have to have a sequrity problem, because i don’t beleive that someone hack my ssh password in about half a day!
I hope you enjoy the 25 bucks
WORD OF WARNING: THEY DO NOT ALLOW MINECRAFT SERVERS ON THE OPENVZ Option.
I can confirm. The owner seems to have a hard-on for taking money over infractions stated in their ToS. He regularly takes 24+ hours to respond to support tickets, as he is the only one that seemingly looks at them.
I ordered from their site because they advertised as a minecraft host on their SSD Servers. Sadly, their SSD servers were completely filled. So, I went for the budget OpenVZ option. Little did I know, there is some text in the (ToS) that states that they have the right to suspend any OpenVZ servers operating minecraft servers.
I realize this was my mistake not reading the ToS. But, the actions that took place were as follows:
1. My account was suspended.
2. Couldn’t login into account to see why it was suspended.
3. Attempted to reset password – Website was poorly designed, and would not allow me to.
4. Opened a support ticket for help setting a password to login and asking why my account was suspended. (I had assumed my invoice was not paid, although it was)
5. New Password was sent, but no information on the suspension (I assumed I could login to the CPanel and find out)
6. Pay invoice for July, (in June) as I think this may be what is preventing my service from being active for whatever reason.
7. No info on suspension in CPanel. Open a new support ticket asking about it. (tells me since I was operating at 1Gig consistently I broke the ToS (was running a minecraft server).
8. I understand I messed up, I apologize and ask for a refund for the month of July (The month I paid in advance AFTER the service was suspended – hoping to restore me service)
9. He refuses stating the breach in ToS. (Even those no services had yet been rendered for the month paid) – as an aside, I did believe he deserved the payment for the month of June.
10. Here I am.
He’s willing to screw you over 7$, that’s his own prerogative. His business will hopefully die over his no-slack-given attitude.
run a chargeback against him then/
Can not access portal for control panel. 4 tickets sent to support, none answered, in over 24 hours Service is still down. “network status” page is “Not Found”. Waste of money.
