LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

RackMountain - $7 384MB KVM VPS in Scranton

RackMountain Hey guys! I haven’t done a runner like some might have suggested :) Blog posting in the middle of no where from a patchy HSPA connection here so bear with me. This is a new offer emailed to me by Nick from RackMountain. The new LEB specials are KVM based in BurstNet in Scranton PA. Here is the direct sign up link to their $7/month VPS, which has

  • 384MB memory
  • 20GB storage
  • 3TB/month data transfer
  • KVM/SolusVM

Test IP: 66.96.192.92. No IPv6 yet but being in BurstNET it’s probably just a matter of time. See the previous blog post about Nick & RackMountain. Yes he is a junior which might have reliability and legal implications, but I have found him to be pretty honest in how he dealt with inquiries and criticism in that previous thread.

  1. Thanks for posting offers while you are on your vacations, there are people who keep refreshing your blog to see new offers :P (Hint: me)

    • Haha. More like a vacation for the kids. My main issue now is just the Internet connection, which makes any kind of background research very difficult. For example half of the HTTP requests don’t load, and the one that loads are very slow.

I’ll see whether this comment submits :)

  2. Looks like whoever is behind this used to operate business from rapidservers.org under the name of ‘Rapid Servers’.

Looks like that went down the pan?

Nick is a nice guy and the service was okay, although I cancelled before getting locked into a yearly plan. (I think he cancelled his Softlayer nodes, so I’m glad I didn’t continue on because burst is def a downgrade from
    softlayer ;0)

    • He is very nice and trustworthy. :)
Burst.net is ok, I do not get the hype around Softlayer :/

      • They use VolumeDrive, who colo inside BurstNet. They dont deal directly with BurstNet themselves.

        July 2, 2011 @ 12:50 pm | Reply
        • Yes they colo inside BurstNET so it’s easier to just say BurstNET as if I say VolumeDrive people going to say “who’s that?” and I have to explain they colo inside BurstNET ect. Sorry if I’m misleading anybody :(.

        • The majority know VolumeDrive round here :)

For there cheap VPS’s and $54.95 Xeon x3450’s.

  4. Hello guys!

Thanks again to LEA for posting this offer wasn’t’ expecting it up for a number of weeks so thanks on that :P.

As for the whois information sorry about that. I’ve updated with all the correct information (Parents wanted to protect whois so I entered fake information). Sorry about that you know parents are these days protect yourself from the people online. Long story about domain protection – I registered a gaming community and it did pretty well and everything went great. Until bans started happening and when bans happen people get mad. They sent threat letters via mail and called me and left some pretty nice things on my phone. Ever since that my parents have urged me to do protection on them. So ya feel free to give me a call or check out my house :).

As for RapidServers I stopped it because I couldn’t brand it. With RackMountain I can really brand this domain and make a brand with it. So that’s really the main reason. Note: RapidServers wasn’t sold or anything I transferred all clients over and kept rates at the same price.

Sadly yes I downgraded a bit with BurstNET but I’m looking to get back up with a great provider as soon as we start getting some nodes full. Couldn’t really afford SoftLayer as my business plan didn’t go off so well. Ended up with me losing a good chunk of money. Currently I’ve dropped down to BurstNET but will jump back up to a reputable Network with either Dual E5405’s / Dual E5520’s/ Dual E5620’s. This won’t happen overnight but it has already been drafted into the business plan and new model.

Again thanks to LEA for posting this offer :)

  7. Also LEA didn’t mention this but we know the site is outdated and we aren’t updating (YET). Reason for this is because were having a new design done for RackMountain (LEB Preview – http://screensnapr.com/v/9ih1e5.jpg ). We plan to have the design done by the end of July and online by mid August.

@Nick – I know your design isn’t finished, but might I suggest moving the “Rack Mountain” and your slogan over to the right a bit more, so it’s not touching the mountains?

(And I do agree with PT, I like the current one a lot more :P)

    • Thanks for the response. As for your suggestion I’ve already mentioned it to the designer :). Note: This design is a preview from 4 weeks ago so some minor changes have happened to it. Along with that please ignore all the text as it is a designers copy :P

Also you should update the site to KVM if you’re not offering XEN anymore. I know a new one is coming out, but that isn’t due until a few months, so there’s no excuse other than laziness of not wanting to get that updated.

    • Please excuse me but theirs no reason to be a troll. All you’ve done from the get-go was criticize me and point out all the wrong things. Also note I’m not the most lazy man on earth as I’m managing many things. I’ll update when I get around to it. As for now I’ve disabled and removed the products from the site.

Sorry if this offends anybody. :)

    • Also I should point out I did mention it and already am quite aware my site is outdated (http://www.lowendbox.com/blog/rackmountain-7-384mb-kvm-vps-in-scranton/#comment-37403). Personally I feel you must find every negative thing about me and point it out. As before you never mentioned a thing about until now. So please stop trolling my offers.

I’m sure Nick is doing a better job than what some adults have done and his profesionialism should put companies such as BURSTNET to shame.

Instead of negative comments Penguin why not give him some constructive critism and praise?

          @Liam,

It *was* constructive criticism, I’m sorry if anyone took it as if I was trolling, I was only suggesting he make that change to prevent potential clients being confused, because the new site isn’t due to be live until August which is about a month, depending on the date in August its due to be live.

So if you want to take my suggestions as a “troll” feel free, I wish you the best of luck with your “business” as your post you’ve just made earlier made you look very, very unprofessional to potential clients.

          All the power to you.

POTENTIAL CLIENTS: CEO of Rackmountain “Mt. Nick”” just admitted he didn’t update the site for the sole reason he was lazy…

” Also note I’m not the most lazy man on earth as I’m managing many things. I’ll update when I get around to it. ”

I highly suggest you read the way he is replying to constructive criticism here on the boards before purchasing.

    • Now this is not good. @PenguinTux, you should stop this. Let the Potential customers / clients read on their own. Now you are making yourself look bad.

      Just saying!

      July 3, 2011 @ 5:52 pm | Reply
    • Reason why I’m not updating it right now is because I’m at a hotel at the Key’s and I won’t login to my server and upload the files because of security reasons. I’m going to wait til I’m home and do it. As I’d rather not put my clients at risk by having someone hack me on a open network. So no I’m not lazy it’s called security.

      July 3, 2011 @ 5:57 pm | Reply
    • Also please point out where exactly I said that I was lazy.

Can’t find it? O that’s right I didn’t say I was at all. If you read my comment fully and not half-ass (excuse me for this) like you did you’d fully understand it (http://www.lowendbox.com/blog/rackmountain-7-384mb-kvm-vps-in-scranton/#comment-37429). Not once have I said I was lazy and I’m not just managing many things like server migrations and planning out the future and drafting the updated business plan.

I admit it isn’t the highest priority on my list but since it is such a big deal I’ll do it first thing when I get home. Other than that do you have anything else you’d like to add to this thread Penguin (As your starting to make yourself look really bad)?

    @penguintux,

Thank’s for the reply. I have to agree with you on one point that a host does need to keep thier website update to date at all times.. However the important thing is that the billing is up to date and it won’t result in people buying non existant things.

I don’t know who you are so i don’t know if your a host yourself? but you have technically been trolling.

    Regards.

    • Personally I think he runs a host and is trying to sabotage anybody and everybody. As I’m pretty sure (if I recall correctly) he’s done this in 2/3 offers. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the reason why he trolls my offers is because I’m 16 as he seemed to love to bring that up (surprised he didn’t already bring it up :p). Along with this I’ve contact LEA about this.

penguintux is the old owner of VPSLatch, Adam. He’s a 16 y.o. punk that had people on payroll plugging threads and posting reviews on WHT before the mods came in and perm. banned him for it. A few other people got banned too I think.

I wouldn’t take any of his comments to heart as he’s usually just trolling or trying to plug semoweb. I’ve seen him be a real pest on the Frantech IRC channel a few times already and it’s just childish!!

  14. Hello LEB I’ve gotten a really nice message from Adam (Previous VPSLatch owner). @Yogo it isn’t Adam posting the messages against me.

    Adam’s side –

Hello Everyone, this is Adam the old owner of VPSLatch.

This comment has been brought to my attention by a few of my contacts and I would simply like to share my side of the story. To start, I’m completely out of the Hosting Industry and I would like the opportunity to explain Yogo’s post.

Due with the unexpected personal issues faced, all employees were given little to no termination notice. As a result, I have been forced to let everyone go and unfortunately, there were two angry ex-employees, which I will not name for respect of privacy. Those employees have gone lengths to alert communities I participate in and pretty much all my internet life to say inaccurate statements such as having a payroll for ‘false reviews.’ Unfortunately there is a tool called ‘Firebug’ which is a popular plug-in for Firefox and other browsers which they have used to alter proof. Wherever you are hearing this from I highly urge you request video proof. We’ve even had an angry ex-employee email a few competitors saying how I did this and did that when I really didn’t just for the sole reason to try to cause drama. Once again I know it was my fault for letting employees go with no termination notice however due with personal issues I had no choice. Angry employees are going to be like terrorists to me and I don’t blame them for that for the unexpected termination notice I’ve given. However, to go to lengths to try to destroy me with libel on all my online presence on the web is just not right.

I will not go into detail as to why my account at WHT is disabled as its against the rules as far as know – but I can say I have no intentions of returning to the hosting industry, nor do I want to return to the industry so the account on WHT makes no difference to me.

Nick @ RackMountain/RapidServers was actually one of my loyal clients and I remember working with him I have *no* intentions of ruining his business and only wish him the best of luck – I’m sure it will go well with such a brandable name like RackMountain. Just go with the brand and continue moving on and looking at the brighter picture no matter what and I’m sure it will do very well.

    Personal note to Nick:
I have absolutely no intentions of ruining your business as mentioned above. You can’t believe everything you hear and wherever you’re hearing it from, no matter how close you are to him/her, I urge you request video proof as pretty much anything can be altered nowadays.

Final note to everyone of the community:

I don’t want this thread going off-topic, so this is my first and last post I am going to post on LowEndBox. I urge you to respect Nick and keep this on-topic as well. Just remember in life you can’t believe everything you hear and its crucial you request video/unaltered proof before making accusations against somebody. I learned this the hard way during my beginning stages when joining the industry. Unfortunately libel is going to be common in this industry and any web host owner will learn this eventually.

I thank you for your time and wish all of you the best of luck with your future endeavors.

    Adam

Huge thanks to Nick for posting my side of the story, I actually submitted a ticket with him explaining everything, I was having issues publishing the comments as it kept getting caught into the spam trigger, so I just made him aware of the situation and he has shared it with the LEB community for me.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologize that Nick got caught in the middle of this. This thread is about RackMountain not VPSLatch, but unfortunately a few “trolls” if you want to call them that, have lead the thread off topic. Let’s all from now on keep this topic about RackMountain and show some respect for Nick.

I appreciate the support everyone. Back on topic, I must say RackMountain is doing a great job representing the company and dealing with the “trolls” – Nick seems to be very transparent and honest with everything here which is something not a lot of hosts can do. In fact he handled it better than I would have :P

As I’ve told you Nick, keep looking at the brighter side, don’t give up I’m confident you will do very, very well with Rackmountain. Keep it up.

    Thanks,
    Adam
