LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
Bought a VPS earlier today, has gone down twice already, will keep updated.
Moved me to another node which seems more stable, still waiting on a port issue to be fixed though, support seems to generally be fast but they haven’t got back to me for over a day now. Lets see how it goes.
Ok, they’ve fixed the problem I had, can’t fault the support, very helpful. The servers are fast and the one I am on now seems stable.
This is a worth while company to try, and if you don’t get what you like ask for a refund.
Got vps about 20 mins after paying for it
Messaged support about tap/tun it was enabled within 5 minutes
am getting good speeds
hope it stays this way :)
07:08:16 up 4 days, 16:13,
^^ think this new vps they’ve issued me is stable, really give these guys a go, the speeds are fast and the support are fast and a joy to talk too.
Do they raised the price?
@ Irex No the price is the same for the life of your VPS Server ( Recurring ) We shall not be increasing the prices, if anything new better offers will be applicable to existing customers.
My server been up nicely now, and looks like their ISP made some changes to network, and we’re now seeing more gblx routes instead of cogent(My main concern was network performance when i joined, pretty much because 90% of routes found their way via cogent, but now it has changed).
Good job Ben, hopefully business is doing good and profitable.
Heh, just when I comment it changes back to cogent being first carrier on almost all routes. Oh well, maybe it’s good also.
Due in no circumstances, he canceled my VPS, deleted my account
Set up my VPS last night at 2am. The support is excellent – ran into a few problems (my own errors – was tired) but Ben managed to sort them out despite the time.
The OpenVZ login is dead.
Waiting.
The support is fine.
Everything works!
Great!!
Code looks expired – darn, was thinking about switching VPS’!
@Kelvin — I have just posted their new offer on France server. More memory, more disk space, 3 GBP/month, but in France OVH.
@LowEndAdmin — I was thinking about that, but I’m quite needing a VPS in the UK. I’m watching the ‘uk’ rss feed, so I’ll wait until you post something with 256MB and call it a deal.
