          Also:

All VPS offers need to provide a Test IP and Test File for each location that we publish in relation to your offer. These must be hosted on your servers, and the IPs must be routed to your servers. We will not accept the general Test IPs and Test Files of a datacenter. Furthermore, if you own your IP range we are interested in knowing this as well.

They are HostDime’s test IP and test files not SemoWebs.

Matthew you are such a huge dick, why didn’t you post your ‘website’ with your comment?

You sit there and slag other providers off and it’s annoying me.

The reason I don’t post the website that I work for when I don’t need to is so not to hurt other providers. I am sure you would be first to jump (which infact you where – with your signature) when I make a mistake.

If I wanted to, I would use the one which has LoveVPS linked into it, and a logo, but simply I would prefer not to. I was pointing out a mistake within the ad. Sorry Jack, but you would be the first to do it if you noticed.

I use these test IPs day in day out, I remember them off by heart, so I am the first to notice.

Also @Jack, I have used SemoWeb in the past, and have been on speaking terms with Dustin for a while. My service at SemoWeb network wise, actually made me choose HostDime in the first place, so before you go jumping in with your misguided and deluded posts. In no way did I reply to semoweb, I noticed a mistake in the ad and commented, how else am I supposed to do it?

    • Hello Gentle,

Our VPS are self managed, meaning you’re responsible for management.. My suggestion to you is installing a free control panel out there that will help kick-start your success! Such as Webmin, Kloxo or similar.

Hello. After reinstalling OS (from Centos to Ubuntu) I can’t ssh in, got “Connection timed out”.
In VPS control panel “Status: Online”.

    • Zoko,

That sounds like the hostnode is not running CentOS 6.X (Have you touched base with support)?

It turns out that Ubuntu 12.04 not supported on my hostnode. I downgraded to 11 and it works!
        Thanks.

Sounds good :) Should you really need Ubuntu 12.x we can always move you to a different node just FYI

  34. Initial orders are quick on the $12/year, server was up within an hour. Ticket support is slow for add ons.
Put in request yesterday for cost for adding extra memory and adding Plesk (don’t care either WHM or Plesk), but got a response saying ‘sent to supervisor’ and that’s it.
Don’t want to use the free ones, learning a new server mgmt tool was not on my agenda..LOL
Also the phone number goes to voicemail.

But then again for $12 a year, can’t expect much.

    • Hello,

Add-ons are not processed by Support, this requires sales.. Which number did you dial? I want you to expect quality and you deserve to receive it regardless of the price.

  35. Your taking care of me now so we are all good.
regarding the phone number I called : 1-877-706-SEMO which is what is on your support page. tried sales went to recorded message, then tried support went to recorded message … this was about 4pm CST.

    Some suggestions …
    1. a forum for customers to assist each other. Also a way for you to see what customers are thinking.
    2. A bit more content in your knowledge base.

Looking forward to working with you guys.

  37. Fallen:

I bought one of these last September for the same offer, all I can say is whomever is hosting these (hostdime?) do a poor job. Downtime daily, multiple disconnects, (seems like the network at the datacenter drops out all the time). I’ve put in tickets about it before, they pretend to fix the problem and it just happens again. I’ve also had issues with vps uptime besides the poor connection (control panel stated it had no ram, thus the vps didn’t work) and they told me the server hard drive crashed and they were replacing it which took them over 10 hours to get back online (10 hours for a harddrive, please…). I suggest not to use this for anything you NEED to be up all the time. I’m currently even having issues right now, 1/2 the pings are coming back timed out.

  38. “Fallen”,

A simple IP look up allows me to locate your account, I do see a total of 9x tickets, one of which is network/hardware related, your VPS was not down for 10 hours for ‘just’ a hard drive swap.. there was an FSCK sadly.. and you were informed this. The last ticket I show is 117d 9h 50m..

Anyhow, you mentioned you’re presently facing issues and I’m unable to replicate it and there is no ticket about it.. unfortunately we cannot help unless you bring it to our attention.. our monitoring software has not detected loss.. nor have other clients brought it to our attention.. perhaps an isolated issue?

Bought the 12$/year 256M VPS. Opened a ticket for a VPN issue. Respond is within reasonable time frame. The technical support (Kim) knows stuff and would be able to resolve issue quickly. I am satisfied with the service in general. Thanks!
