SwiftVM - $7/Month 1024MB SSD OpenVZ in San Diego, California

Jordy, from SwiftVM, has recently emailed in the below two offers. SwiftVM seems to be relatively new, but according to Jordy; both him and Chris (Eastonch) have both worked at other hosts within the community.

This is the first time that we’ve featured SwiftVM and we’re told that this promotion is limited to 50 of each plan. If a plan is not quite suitable for you, they’re happy to work something out with you. They’re using servers with the Intel Xeon E3 1270v2 CPU, 32GB ECC DDR3 RAM and 4 X 512GB SSD RAID10 (Samsung 840Pro drives). If you’re into your I/O speed, we’re told that these plans are capable of reaching between speeds of 900-1000MB/s. They also provided us with this ServerBear benchmark and I found this short review on LowEndTalk.

SwiftVM currently only accept Paypal but they offer a 3 day full refund policy, no questions asked. The couponcode “LEBOFFERFTW” can be used to get 15% off any of their other products. Additional IPv4 addresses are charged at $1 per month. TL;DR TOS: No illegal stuff, or hacking, pirated, child porn, or anything bad. Torrents, adult content, IRC, TOR relays (Not nodes) are allowed. For more information, take a look at their Terms of Service.

  2. Why the 512 plan has less HD space than the 1024 plan?

    March 22, 2013 @ 4:30 pm | Reply
    • The 512SSD special has more storage space, not less. It’s part of the special, as we didn’t want to do the regular “Squeeze as much RAM into $7 as possible”.

Obviously because it’s a lower plan?

I see. You mean why does it have more than the 1024 plan.

True.. it’s not a typo either.

      • Yep, I messed my comment.
I mean, the 512 has MORE space :S

        • It was originally intended as a LET offer, but we only got a few sales on it so we decided to put it in our LEB offer too.

I can see how this can cause confusion,

The 512 plan was for the ‘additional’ storage, but for only $2 extra you’re getting double ram and similar HDD space, I’m not too sure why we randomized this offer, but honestly, we’ve had a few people ask for extra space on their <1GB plans, so here's the chance.

I do have a box with them and I must admit that it is pretty impressive.

I do have an open ticket with them, but they are attending the same promptly.

So far, I’m impressed and recommend them.

If you or anyone else has any questions around this feel free to shoot me an email at jordy@swiftvm.com

  5. I’m getting the following error on the 1024SSD LEB link.

    “Permissions Error
The templates compiling directory ‘/home/swiftvmc/public_html/client/templates_c/’ must be writeable (CHMOD 777) before you can continue.
If the path shown is incorrect, you can update it in the configuration.php file.”

    • Yes, we have been aware of this for about 10 minutes now. Seems that our webhost has a disk failure and there is an issue with cPanel. They said they should have this fixed within an hour. Only the billing area has been affected, no data has been lost, nor is SolusVM or any services affected. SolusVM is still accessible from vps.swiftvm.com

  6. Any ipv6?

    March 23, 2013 @ 12:50 am | Reply
    • Currently not yet, however our provider is working on getting this up and running, and he only needs a couple of new (rather expensive) switches. According to him this will be ready within a couple of weeks, and we will provide our clients with free IPv6 in that case.

“All account plans come with a predetermined amount of traffic allowance. We monitor all accounts and bill $1.00 for each gig of traffic exceeded.”

Whoa, you don’t often see bandwidth overbiling on LEB hosts. I’m presuming that accounts which exceeded their bandwidth limit are suspended by default, and this only applies if people specifically ask to allow to go over the limit?

    March 23, 2013 @ 11:59 am | Reply
    • By default all containers are suspended. Clients can request for this to be deactivated and pay per gig, or buy extra banwidth for $10 per 1TB.
