- OpenVZ/SolusVM
Server is in Germany with Hetzner, although their website is hosted in their own cPanel box with UK2.net in UK. Their .co.uk domain has been registered since 2006, with non-redundant DNS on the same box.
What’s worrying though, is that according to company detail on CompaniesHouse.gov.uk, The Host House actually got dissolved on 7 September, i.e. this week! Any experts in UK — what the heck does it mean?

i guess they fixed the dns problem already http://www.intodns.com/thehosthouse.co.uk
not sure about that “dissolved” thing..
Speaking to a friend of mine who is quite into Business, he has told me that the current status ‘Proposal to Strike Off’ means;
The company has applied to be removed as it’s ceased trading for 3months or it’s not submitted valid documents.
And that the ‘dissolved’ status means;
no longer exists, assets liquidated, bosses no longer limited, or no further return forms for like tax and VAT are due.
Jack xD
@id — if you actually traceroute to the two IPs of the DNS, they actually land on the same box. I usually verify by telneting to port 25 of the IP address, and the email server will usually broadcast it’s hostname upon connection. For cPanel servers they usually run MTA as well on the same box.
@admin, thanks. i’ll try that way next time. i just thought that if the ip starts with somewhat different number, then it might be on different box, i was wrong :(
The Dissolved status could simply meen the owner has changed to UK Sole trader etc.
@Daniel
This is correct.
I changed the company to a UK sole trader as it makes business management a whole lot easier. I.e. there is no need to fill in annual returns / accounts etc.
Being a limited company didn’t really provide any benefits to us, apart from a more “professional” look. So I made the decision to go back to Sole trader even though I am now personally liable for any debts and obligations, instead of the company.
Hope that clears it up. =)
Dissolved Means The company is out of business or in other words it means that the “LTD” has been Deleted
“Dissolved company names are available to be re-used when setting up a new UK business.
The newly registered entity will be issued with a different company number and will in no way be related to the old dissolved business except that they will have the same name.”
“One practical consideration when registering a company and using a dissolved name is the reputation (if any) that the previous business may have had. For example, it might be some time until someone chooses to form a company using the names Polypec or Enron.”
Testing it out now, looking good so far.
