VPSLix - $4.95 256MB OpenVZ VPS in Kansas City

Updated June 2011: VPSLix is down since 2 June and I don’t think they are coming back. FAIL!

VPSLix Via this WHT offer. VPSLix is currently running a “50% off life discount” promotion, which will expire on 15th of May. Their website is already listing the discounted price, where you can get their lowest plan “BLVPS1” for $4.95/month. Direct ordering link here.

  • 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
  • 25GB storage
  • 100GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Servers in Kansas City, possibly with DataShack according to this post at WHT. Price seems to be pretty average for a new VPS startup. Domain was registered in April 2011 with WHOIS protection by “Giant Network Ltd”. Both NS on the same box. Doing a search on “Giant Network Ltd” turns up this question on Yahoo Answers — looks like there are others who are also interested to know who is behind the privacy mask. One of Giant Network Ltd’s domain, “servlix.com”, is registered by someone in Gillingham, Kent UK. However Giant Network did not turn up on Companies House so it is not really a registered legal entity.

As of VPSLix.com, there are missing links (“Dedicated Plan” for example), pricing mismatch ($4.90 in WHMCS but $4.95 on the website) and ToS is no where to be found. Buyers beware.

    • Someone may want to post that to WHT. At least in that thread where the business is for sale.

      • Looks like someone already did. WHT was timing out when I wrote the above.

Their WHMCS is backup, but the license looks a bit…. suspicious.

I believe their using Free WHMCS From HostNine.
But what is very suspicious is that their IP, 31.171.129.183 is not hosted in HostNine. Their IP points to knownsrv.com

      • Stealing licenses isn’t hard alas. All you have to really do is tell WHMCS a domain that’s on their network and it’ll give you a license. Hostgator got smart to this by auditing every day but still.

    Hello,
VPSLix.com is apart off Giant network which is being registered within next 3 days, just waiting on confirmation our end then we can proceed.
The issue with the nulled WHMCS, this was not something we was aware off due to an outside person who had setup our website/whmcs area had used it, we never did update the license. As you can see the lciense has been updated and is indeed a legitmate copy.

He’s removed his WHT for sale link.

Im guessing he probably knew about it being nulled, also the current license is suspicious as well. If you couldn’t setup WHMCS yourself, who’s to say you can’t setup OpenVZ or SolusVM.

      • Yeah huge this month. I’ll wait a few days just to make sure these are truly dead rather than just a prolonged hibernation.
