LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

vpsVIBE - $3.99 256MB OpenVZ VPS in Chicago

Updated December 2011 — vpsVIBE’s website is no longer resolvable since 5 December. Not too surprised from their track record. FAIL.

vpsVIBE Jake from vpsVIBE has sent me some discount for the LowEndBox readers. LEB11 gives you 10% off for their first 3 invoices. Their plan starts at $3.99/month with

  • 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
  • 30GB storage
  • 300GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Direct sign up link. PayPal only. Servers with Continuum in Lombard/Chicago IL (test IP: 216.231.135.145). Read my last post and the comments for more info. WHOIS privacy protection is on, although I don’t see why it is necessary — people here know that they are the unmanaged VPS arm of GenVPS/GenShared. SSL has been added to ordering page since last time, and they have also added ToS and AUP (no IRC).

  1. Hello and thank your for the post. Whois privacy, I agree, is most unnecessary and will be removed shortly.
We listen to the suggestions and points raised on LEB and do our best to rectify them. If you have any issues or questions, you can contact us any time via our pre-sales ticket on vpsVIBE.

    Regards,

The SSL-Client-Area redirects to itself with no SSL. So in the end no SSL in client area. Not good.

May want to run through that thread again as I believe this was one of the issues raised.

  5. We have a new design currently in progress, however, our current design is in no way pirated, as mentioned by an LEB user in the previous thread.

We had purchased the theme from a designer on Web Hosting Talk, regardless, we are still working on our new template which will also display more information.

I’ve been with these guys for several months now and am underwhelmed by their service. Case in point: the website has been down the entire morning since around 8am CST. Their main website is down too (vpsvibe.com). The WHOIS information has bogus contact information.

My sites go down an average of every month or month and a half. Every time I write them, they’re very polite and always seem to have a valid excuse but it just keeps on happening. Today’s outage is particularly alarming: I’ve heard of low-budget providers just packing up their stuff and leaving – is this what’s happening now?
