Our cloud offers actually do not cost more than our old VPS offers. Only difference is that we do not offer 128MB packages anymore.

I also never tryed yisp.nl cloud platform however I love their old stable .nl Xen VPSs. After my 128MB yisp.nl experience I ordered something bigger there and two years later I can say only: rare LEB featured vps host which I trust with my “more serious” projects.

We are using Xen with central (SAN) storage, as described by LEB. We are using Onapp as our management system (onapp.com). All hardware is redundant and if a hypervisor fails, the VMs from this machine will boot on one of the other hypervisors. This way a high uptime can be guaranteed.

SANs are also redundant (2 SANs)! Your VM will stay online in such case.
At least you know what you pay for & don’t really need a second LEB in case the first VPS fails (or it has to be network issue)

Yeah I know. I use different tags for providers who have rebranded or have multiple outlets, if they choose to sell one of them later. Just for consistency here, but you can do search on ‘Yisp’ to get their posts.
One way I think of “cloud” as differing from LEB is that LEB customers are expected to treat the server as a shared resource (lots of client per box, sustained high cpu can get you banned), while cloud servers are intended (and the hw configured) to handle sustained high cpu load from customers. Can you tell me Yisp’s setup and policy about this? How much cpu could I expect from this $7 plan? I have some compute intensive jobs that I’m looking for ways to run. Not too much disk or network traffic, but CPU fully loaded 24/7 if that’s ok with you. (It’s a search indexing task, not bitcoin or anything like that).

CPU isn’t much of a problem, we are using dual six-core nodes. The 256MB packages have 1 core which has 50% cpu priority. It is no problem to use this 100%, the CPU’s are underused on every node.
