But I am little bit confused. It says 1TB/month data transfer at 100Mbps and then 1Gbps node uplink?
I think each VPS is limited to 100Mbps and then the physical box/dom0 has 1Gbps.
LowEndAdmin is right, each Xen node has a 1Gbps uplink and each VPS is limited to 100Mbps.
But the speed is not that good. I got only around 100k/s from downloading the test file from the stats.
Hi, just out of curiousity I’ve done a wget on the 100MB file from my VPS hosted in Canada (a budget VPS so impressive speeds are not to be expected) and the average download speed was 269 Kbps with spikes up to about 400 Kbps.
It’s safe to assume that the download speed was not very good in the Canadian datacenter this is why I don’t know why you got such low download speeds.
Could you please provide us with a MTR result?

I think it’s better off to measure the speed usin your home internet connection, rulling out the possibility that the other VPS provider has a slow route to us.
Also, just out of curiosity use http://www.speedtest.net and choose the AdNet Telecom node in Bucharest, RO to measure the speed.
so, if possible use a speedtest server inside your own dataceter?
vps speed should be measured using a connection to where most of it`s users will be (in romania i suppose the biggest % will do to rds-rcs ; if users will come from outside romania then you should definetively test connection from outside)

Until further notice from the Romanian TLD registrar – RoTLD.ro, the .ro domains and it’s derrivates are registered on life.
What do you mean by lifetime domain? It does not need to be renewed?
It doesn’t need renewal. All I know is that they are about to change this and have the domain names expire after a period. However, no one knows wether the new policy will also affect the peviousli registered domain names or will it be applied only to newly registered domains.
IPv6 Availability?
No ipv6 on the previous OpenVZ offer, this one’s probably without ipv6 also.
No IPv6 yet, nore very soon.
What do you mean by lifetime domain? Is it registed forever, and it isn’t needed to be renewed?
When RoTLD started selling the .ro domains, they were rather expensive (about US$60 + 19% TAX), yet they said the domain will be yours forever and ever. Now there are rumours that RoTLD is about to change this and move to per year payments, however no one knows wether this policy change, whenever will be released, will apply to old domain names too or only to domain names being registered from then on.

You have to bear in mind where .RO is located, geographically. It’s Eastern Europe. It’ll be good for most of Europe, peering considered, but if you’re expecting it to be fast to .US you’re going to be disappointed. That 2.73MB/sec it managed to Hostrail is impressive imo.
I’m not sure how the limited-to-100mbit test server managed to average 14.9MB/sec with a finishing speed of 22.4MB/sec. The above tests were done with the 100MB file, so I retried that test with the 1GB file, and it peaked at 31640.94 KB/s. Average was 14.2MB/sec that time.
These are pretty nice though, speeds are good to most of .EU and not too shabby to Hostrail at least, for the Americans.

6 euros gets you 30GB/512MB/2TB, 1.2GB worth of CPU and 8 IPs. Most other places would charge you more than that just for the IPs!The website says 8 IPs etc, but those are actually optional, and cost extra. Very misleading. Additional IPs are actually $1.36 each.

Glad to see some relevat speed test result :-)
Regarding the download speeds, the test machine has no speed limit, it’s a nonsense to set traffic limits for it. I want to show you the full speed, not capping it @100Mbps. If the speed exceeds the theoretically 12MBps for a 100Mbps uplink, it’s safe to assume that as a regular client you won’t get more 12MBps (100Mbps).
Regarding the number of IPs, I totally agree with you that it sounds misleading, that statement is there because the old VPS packages that were more expensive had these 8 IPs included for free, yet after we changed the packages the devel team forgot to remove that line.
We don’t do cheap marketing, it’s just a spec that was left there by mistake. I already emailed the devel team to modify that line accordingly. Sorry about that.

This is why I’m saying that a single speed test is not relevant, multiple endpoints should be use in order to get a clear picture of the real throughput.
While the first tester only got about 100kbps, Gary came up with a relevant result by measuring from multiple locations, and now you’re saying that you got 5.44MBps (43.52 Mbps).
