This is the reason and proof that LEB is not just another “hosting offer blog with affiliate and stolen content“. At least LEB not only the place where vps providers meet customers, but also employer meets job seeker. hahaha. I am happy for you all.

BTW, admin probably should post job-offer advertisement. Just in case there are some providers need a hand on support or sales. hehehe.

    • Job-offer advertisements — I would imagine that in the hosting market, there will be lots of one-off contract jobs, and support personnels on casual basis. Good of high-school teens to have a foot in the industry before becoming a hosting entrepreneur themselves :P

      Let me think about it.

Nice to see more vserver offers on here; I think this is the second, after Alvotech a while back. Its limitations take a little getting used to, but that’s no different than OpenVZ, I suppose.

They allow IRC, so I guess if you don’t attract ddos attacks, it will be fine.

On the other topic sounds like warez linking is legal in austria?

    April 19, 2011 @ 4:31 pm | Reply
    • Austrian:

Not legal, but also not clearly illegal – grey area in which nobody wants to risk something.

      As example:
Downloading Warez releases for yourself would be illegal, to have them not – so if a friend gives you a burned DVD it would be not illegal.
So “storage” of warez is not illegal, Downloading is.
      Upload is always illegal.

We also have not yet secured if Filehosters are legal, since you dont upload.

      It’s a mess here.

Ok, I’ve just set it up. It’s 64bit which is okay though I would have preferred 32bit, William is that possible? :D

I think it is excellent value for money, though where edis can improve is on their website. Switching from German to English via the hyperlink sometimes takes me back to the first part of where I was (ie, form).

Overall, I am very impressed with their fast setup and things are quite neat, ie, 5gb = 5120mb and they did that and not just 5000mb, They have set timezone properly — These are the little things that people don’t really notice and VPS companies quite often miss.

3 eur per month is fantastic for a student budget, I simply cannot fit in $20 a month for a Linode VPS.

That is $240 per year for Linode or 35.88 eur; both have discounts, Linode would be $216 per year and Edis would be 30 eur with code.

    30 EUR = $40.82 AUD
    $216 USD = $200.76 AUD

For that, I save $160 per year — It only makes sense to use Edis. I am using the same software using the same ram.

    Keep it up Edis.at!

I guess if the files are illegal it’s not allowed, since you’ll need to seed (upload) and leech (download) ^_^, tracker probably okay though, but you should probably email them privately about this.

        • I also remember the thread about the one-core VPS in Switzerland.
All our production-systems are based on the same hardware / technology – that’s why it is most unlikely that the VPS only displayed one core ;-)
There is only one difference right now, which is the storage-backend. In Switzerland we currently have SSD only, but this will be changed soon.
As soon as we have the SAS backend running, we are also able to offer the smaller VPS plans in Switzerland and other countries as well.

          @ALL
Question: in which countries would you in general be interested in (in terms of VPS) ?

However, I have good/great connectivity to all country’s from Belgium, so for me it doesn’t matter.
Maybe focus on Swiss and Austria location, expend it with KVM or XEN. TUN/TAP? :p

        April 28, 2011 @ 9:02 pm | Reply
        • Hi!
This sounds very interesting. A KVM-based product is already in the production pipeline for Austria and will be launched soon. A beautiful industry-server with 24 cores and loads of RAM is already parked here ;-)

vserver based products will become available in Germany soon (on SAS and SSD subsystems). Switzerland will be expanded with SAS components soon to be able to provide the smaller vps plans (starting with smart vps). Italy is a very interesting market for us. Not only for VPS but also for virtual hosting and email-services. Within the next 6 months timeframe EDIS will be offering vps and virtual hosting from Milano (IT).

          regards from Austria,
          Gerhard

+1 for KVM, hope you make a nice deal for us LEB-users *wink wink* ;-)
The only thing that’s holding me back from signing up with you guys, is no ipv6, and no possibility (no TUN/TAP) to enable a tunnel on vserver, with KVM no problems anticipated.
I think going Italian will get you allot of customers, offer free pizza when taking a vps for one year!

@ExPl0Rer, I would also prefer some european location which isn’t germany/netherland/england, as it’s pretty easy to get vps on those locations. Switzerland with SAS will be interesting for LEB community for sure. I also never saw Italian vps hosting with affordable prices. And then Scandinavia (Denmark, Norway and Sweden). Finland… wishing something like that would be imho mission impossiblem so lets stick with Switzerland/SAS and Italy – that would be great.
In your neighbourhood are also Hungary and Slovenia with pretty decent connectivity.

        • Christian:

@Explorer Austria and Switzerland are great locations, if you want to expand to new countries I would advise you to expand in your region in central europe. So probabbly Hungary, Slovenia maybe Slovakia and Czech Republic would be a good way to expand your business and theese countries are also near to your business. And they should have good connections too(mainly Hungary should have a decent network.). So basicly I agree with Spirit.

@dirk, my experience with swedendedicated/xema is terrible. I was with them more than a year but one day I woke up and my vps was gone. Terminated. They ignored my support tickets but I was stubborn and finally they said that I cancelled it however when I requested proof (cancellation mail – whmcs also log cancellation confirmation but in this case it didn’t exist) they wasn’t able to give any, neither say sorry…
They never explained what really happened with my vps, it’s just gone and they didn’t even care.

        • Spirit:

No, they never admitted it. After noticed downtime I opened support ticket which was unanswered per days. Then I sent text message to their phone and got replay to ticket immediately:
They said that I requested cancellation. (am I nuts?) But when I requeded a proof as WHMC mail section didn’t have “vps cancellation mail” they wasnt able to give any. They sticked with their “you cancelled it” story and finally I got refund (partial refund). The thing which pissed me off here is their (or better his – I think that there is only one person) cold, unprofesional approach without even a bit of regret disregarding the fact that he know that user wasn’t logged into their system some longer time to even request cancellation. You can’t fool WHMCS as this thing save VPS cancellation confirmation mail under users mail menu. Well.. there wasn’t any. Not even a sign about cancellation. VPS was just erased…

How long does it normally take to get the login details after ordering?

after placing the order, we deliver within 10 to 45 minutes.
During the night (Europe) it will take until the next morning and then we provision all the orders.

      What about hosting in germany?

tested your 100mb file @ austria and had mediocre results (~5mb/s) while downloading from FFM is blazing fast.
london would be interesting too but 100mbit for 200 VPS is in my opinion… ah well… i don’t host any big files but i think that it could limit with so much nodes.

I’m not sure if we already posted this. I think William sent something to LEB admins almost 2 months ago but the offer has not been published so far.

      *** LEB PROMO ***

Please mind, that the promo-code is NOT VALID on other vps plans.

  33. Hi guys!
Just in case you did not notice yet … we changed our VPS billing system to whmcs … this means: realtime invoicing, online paypal billing, no more stupid cancellation times, more convenience for you and for us … and, (I almost forgot the mention that) an easy to use shopping cart for our VPS ;-) YEAH!
    https://manage.edis.at/whmcs/

Thank you very much to all of you – YOU are the driving force behind these developments ;-)
    Cheers,
    Gerhard @ EDIS
