Bloomberg reported today that the Chinese state government will require all state firms to eliminate foreign PCs within two years. An estimated 50 million PCs will be affected.
Note that this affects state firms, not individual Chinese.
The move is likely made to reduce Chinese dependence on foreign components and help the state “turtle up” to withstand any future sanctions. China also uses Linux derivatives for its operating system, potentially giving it a plug-to-user independence.
Western PC vendors (HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc.) will be affected by the loss of this market. It’s unclear if Microsoft will be affected, given the porous nature of software compliance by the Chinese state.

Why Lenovo defined as “Western PC vendors”
Is there any other source confirming this? All the news is referring to Bloomberg yet the only source they (Bloomberg) have is ‘people familiar with the plan said’. As China has tried to do this multiple times I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true. Just want to make sure it is actually happening so we can see if there are any opportunities in it.

Sounds like fake news. True that linux software has come a long way. But for the current crop to completely replace microsoft and the likes, not feasible.
