What does “pretty good connectivity to Asia/Australia” mean exactly?

  2. Well if you are in China looking for a US-based virtual server, then you are pretty much looking for a West Coast one in California. HE.com’s facility in Fremont has good ping to Asia and Australia from what I’ve heard.

  5. Andrew,

Do you offer higher plans at this discount rate? I may be interested in at least 512/1024.

LEA, it might be worth noting that all “four” of their nameservers are on the same box. (Do a traceroute.) You used to point out useful stuff like that once upon a time. :)

Before the move from Phoenix we had the Second set of nameservers offloaded elsewhere, However when we moved we had to put the nameservers on the same box in Chicago.

Once we get everything completely settled in Fremont we will push the second set off of the same box over to Fremont. We wouldn’t have 4 Nameservers if 2 of them wasn’t offloaded for fail over. We had to place them in Chicago while we moved everything from Phoenix.

  10. @Mike — yes I usually only do the digging for new providers on the radar.

Actually getting DNS hosted is not that expensive. I am paying DNSMadeEasy for all my important domains so I don’t have to worry about them. I have also used Zerigo, which is also quite good. DNS is definitely something I would not want to be slack at.

    Quote from the ToS/AUP:

“At our discretion, a $25.00 DMCA processing fee will apply to account holders who receive DMCA notices.”

    This statement is troubling.

Does this apply to DMCA takedown notifications that have no bearing? Meaning ANYONE can write you a letter and you will charge a nice $25 fine regardless of whether the notification was false or not?

The fee is only issued if you fail to comply within the allocated time frame specified which is 24 hours (As stated in all DMCA emails).

If you don’t want the fee to be issued then you would need to notify us within 24 hours of receiving the email as to what you are doing to resolve the issue.
