Not wrong per se, just many of us that use virtual machines are bored of the same ole CC based offers, and would like to see other locations and data centers with different providers. Anyways, this site is pretty much a “CC show” now, so what should I expect.

Of course it’s 4 CPU cores shared. Where will you get 4 dedicated cores for < $5/mo, realistically?

  4. I just switched away from 123systems due to terrible service. They recently migrated their systems to new hardware, and one of my (two) VPSes was completely overlooked in the transfer. After it being down for a couple of days, I filed a support ticket which never got a response. Eventually, refiling the ticket, it turned out that they had just not migrated it, and deleted the original instance, so I had to reinstall and restore myself.

The other server I had with them was down for about a week during the migration.

From time to time my servers would go down for no reason. Sometimes I could just log into the panel and boot them (if there was nothing wrong, why wasn’t it booted automatically?), but sometimes I had to file a support ticket to get them to.

Don’t waste your time with 123systems.

I am afraid I will have agree with him. I am still an user at 123systems. They deleted my sites when they migrated to their new hardware. When I filed an ticket they told me they had power failure on their sever. I forgave them for that. But recently their vps would reboot with out any reason and the best part is that it does all through the day.

Sometimes it messes up mysql sock files when I have to login as delete the files and restart mysql server again.

absolutely terrible company. product sucks, customer support even worse. purchased a reseller package from them and all of the websites would go down on a regular daily basis. waited over a week and opened 3 support tickets. was never resolved. when i asked for a refund for the rest of the duration of the year (only $12 back mind you) i was promised one and told they would be processing it asap. its been over two weeks and every day i open a new ticket to remind them. finnally after two weeks of battling the same person that promised me a refund told me they dont offer refunds. this companies a joke.

this is the response i recieved after two weeks of battling. notice the dates, and notice how its the same customer service rep. at least it was only $12 i lost out on. unfortunate for anyone else who lost out on more.

  5. The title kinda suggests to me that both offers are in multiple locations (or atleast the XEN one), in fact only the OVZ one is.

One thing to note as I own two VPS’es from this company is that the internet port is horrible on many of the nodes, most times (Aka, all day) I can get a maximum of 4 Mbps… No joke, I actually even did a ticket… 4 weeks ago no answer.

I’ve tested so many things such as if the DNS settings were wrong etc, everything is right and it’s on their side and they won’t help anyone with it.

I think we should face reality. I’m here looking for another VPS host at low cost, after running away from several others. Current one is AlphaRacks and I dream of a 4mbit bandwidth! I’m under 2mbit and pings take ages.
I tested a good half of the ones on these forums, and for the remaining half I read from other users. It seems just NOT possible to find something reliable for low price. Low price and good quality are not for this kind of business, it’s a matter of fact. With the time spent migrating from here to there I would have paid a serious hosting. Me big stupid.

I think it should be noted that 123Systems uses Xen-PV, which is different then Xen-HV which is what most providers offer. AFAIK they don’t offer any BSD operating systems and the operating systems available are as follows:

    CentOS 5.9 (x86 and x64)
    Debian 6.0 (x86 and x64)
    Debian 7.1 (x86 and x64)
    Fedora 19 (x86 and x64)
    Ubuntu 12.04 (x86 and x64)
    Ubuntu 12.10 (x86 and x64)

If you notice, they don’t even offer the latest Linux operating systems (like CentOS 6.5, Fedora 20, and Ubuntu 13.10)

    February 12, 2014 @ 6:16 pm | Reply
    • I’m not sure if you are insinuating that there is something “wrong” with PV or if you are making a generalized statement. Xen PV is a popular platform offered by dozens of providers. The thought behind us offering XEN-PV was to give clients full kernel access and full control, HVM is simply not something we have an interest in doing right now.

Regarding the operating systems, we’ll have them updated soon. We went through and did OVZ not too long ago after moving over to .32 based kernels, so XEN is next.

  18. I’ve registered their vps in January in Dallas, TX and it was working fine for about first 2-3 days after registration. But then, network speed to Europe became ugly (for about 20-30 KB/s), it was impossible to work in ssh console, because it had very heavy lags and responsiveness. Support couldn’t resolve this issue so I’ve asked them to move server to NJ datacenter, they moved, and again server was working fine for about first 1-2 weeks, no more. Huge lags with I/O have taken place then. Support simply said that they don’t see any I/O lags on node, though I gave them results of some I/O tests in which speed is no more than 9-10 MB/s. I’ve asked them again to move my server to another NJ node, after that they are simply ignoring my messages in ticket.
Now I’m tired of all this mess and moved to another much more stable provider. It remains to be seen how long will I wait for a refund.

My experience with 123Systems – decent for the first month and crap afterwards. It randomly goes down with NO notification whatsoever. Send in a support ticket and the only response is something like “I will look into it.” and no follow up. When I asked for a reason why the server goes down randomly, I get something like “It’s online now” as a response and that’s it. >_> Oh, and did I mention that the control panel is buggy? Always says my server status is Offline and doesn’t work. I cannot boot or reboot my own server. So I’m just sitting there waiting and trying periodically check to see if the server is running. Speeds aren’t good when the vps is operational.

I do not recommend 123Systems. Granted their services are dirt cheap, but it’s so inconvenient and frustrating working with them that it’s not worth it and you’re better off paying a bit more for better service. I pre-paid for one year and only had it for 2 months. I already left 123Systems and cancelled my services with them. It was cheap because I got it during the Christmas special so I’m not concerned about refund.

  22. Thought I would post my review as of now. I purchased a VC container on 20 Jan 2014 and currently have opened 9 tickets with 123Systems. Four of them were normal maintenance requests (like having the time set on the node….) and five were performance or stability issues, with the current one being that my container went offline and was unable to get it back up. I work for an ISP and have a visor farm with half the VMs being containers which have never given me symptoms like what this container is doing.

Intermit stability/Performance is a big minus right now (this is the Texas Node)

On the other hand, I do get responses from Andrew, though short and feel more like “blanket” statements. They have no other form of communication from than of their ticketing system, which fails to give and extra touch to keep customers. Also, replying with “fixed” doesn’t help to understand the failure in the first place.

Then the container is working, it is fast as it’s only a web/mail server for my Personal company, as well as, a test mail design for my work. I found 123Systems from this site, and find myself back here looking for another provider so I can get my second VM online to complete my network. Unless, 123Systems can show me a stable node and a bit more courtesy to their customers.

Well, you are buying an unmanaged service so you should be able to set the time on your node yourself. I wouldn’t blame them if they don’t want to help you with those kinds of tickets.

    • James:

Besides the obvious fact that 123 has never been associated with quality, how can you even be a sys admin and not be able to set time on your own vps?

      March 1, 2014 @ 12:16 pm | Reply
      • You are really asking this guys? a VZ container’s time is relative to the visor it is on, unlike KVM, ZEN, VMware, etc. If the visor is not properly set to UTC with a time zone in use, then the VZ, as well as LXC, containers will not be able to properly follow global time with other time sensitive infrastructure. Example, the visor is set to local time what is -6 UTC. When the VZ time is set you cannot set the global because the visor is already -6 off global time. setting the time zone in the container only shews it further. Even using the local time, effects remote time security systems which would be using UTC with time zones.

123 System’s node was set to local time with no time zone usage, thus shewing the VC container. I asked them to set to UTC and use time zone to properly set time on the visor, thus allowing me to follow suit on the VM. Are you sysadmins or not?

As for my review, it looks like they have stabilized the node and the container is working well. Hopefully this statue will stay and I can order the next VM. Like stated, when it works, it really works..

It is not Linode quality servers, but its less then a third Linode prices so there is that. Andrew is a great guy and I am happy with my service with 123 Systems.

  27. I’m sorry to say that after having a VPS and a Large Reseller account with 123Systems, that I have been forced to leave due to Andrew’s (123Systems) inabillity to handle customer support or indeed to resolve any issues raised in them.

He seems more then happy to sell add-on products in such a state that they are of no use (I bought 2 additional IP’s for my reseller and they were not added to my reseller cPanel/WHM account). Also, as a reseller you sub-account’s can’t have add-on domains or dedicated IP’s.

If you want a host that not only provides a good service, but also provides a good level of customer service, 123Systems is NOT for you!

  29. I ordered my server last night that is 14 hours before posting this comment.
It took nearly 3 hours for them to send my server details.
And you know what the amazing thing is? The server is not working ever since.
First they tell me the node is not working and should work in 15 mins.
They have the worst of the services. DO NOT BUY!
Their cheap prices are only to fool, they do not provide any kind of service.

For a service of this value, I don’t expect the best service but at least a decent working one which 123systems were not able to provide.

Submitted a ticket as SolusVM not working on 1st July, received an auto-reply saying….

    Hello,

This is a system notification to inform you that our technician team is aware of the outage on the node you are currently located on and should have service restored within the next 15-30 minutes.

If your service is not restored at that point then please re-open this ticket so our team can investigate further.

Thank you and we appreciate your patience.

So it was still not resolved and next day i post a reply again to the same ticket only to find that the ticket was closed on the following day without a response.
i sent in another reply and still no definite answer on when this will be resolved.

Again i raised a new ticket to have my vps moved to another node and I get the same autoreply which basically just closes the ticket status.

I’m giving them another chance with a solution to my issue for the next 1-2 weeks before i cross them out of the reputable vpn providers.

  31. The dog days of summer are officially here and that means it’s time for our first annual summer update. This email is different than the ones you’ve received from us in the past – which were sales-centric, a cheap ploy, we admit. Over the past two months we’ve conducted a review of our internal policies and operational processes and we’re very busy making big changes. Keep reading for our big news and discount opportunities:

    1. Vastly improved support. Effective two weeks ago we added three support technicians to our team which now allows us to offer true 24 hour support. No longer will our customers feel like a generic number forced to interact with apparently careless customer service.

    2. Accountability. At any time you can request that your support request be escalated and management will quickly intervene. Your business is valued and we will make sure you feel that way.

    3. Lower Server Loads. Effective immediately we have begun provisioning nodes without slabbing technology and with 40% fewer customers. We have additional nodes on the way to load shed existing servers and over the next 4 weeks customers will see a dramatic improvement in performance and reliability. These improvements will not cause any interruption to your services and your IPs will not change.

    4. Better Uptime. Lower load and the end of slabbing, along with fixing the issues that occurred due to the recent OpenVZ update will all mean a much more reliable customer experience.

    5. Pricing. Our same attractive pricing model will stay intact for all current customers. Absolutely no increases will occur for existing clients. There will be a modest upward tweaks on certain packages for new orders and those increases will help cover the costs incurred with our overall improvement efforts. We’re confident that new customers will believe an extra few dollars per year will be worth a better service; and current customers get that improvement free! Just like it should be.

In the past our boring sales emails would include massive discounts to compel customers to signup. Given our mission to improve, and the changes we’ve already made, we’re now proving more reasonable incentives. Signup for any package with coupon “save25” and you’ll save 25% for life.

    • It’s pretty amazing 123systems that you’re able to take the time to spam new offers on 4 different posts here 123systems but you don’t have the time to answer support tickets from the many customers who have complained both on LET and WHT about services being down for days, nodes that don’t work, or and you ripping them off you scammer.

Their services is pretty much a scam, I ordered the server, took me 1 week to get it.. I didnt use it right away, since I had my other one online… when it was about to close, guess what.. I had my VPS down.. again.. been 1 week and still offline..

I got a reply on the ticket:

    “Hello

Please check now . Your VPS should be online now”

    —-

    Yeah Right, still offline.

    —–

    “Hello,

We are sorry for the inconvenience cause to you. We are still working on the server. We understand that uptime is very important for you but due to some unexpected issue we are facing this problem. This issue is on high priority for us and we will get this resolved in next few hours”

    ——-

Is that why its on low priority ticket? An offline server, which hit 7 days offline?

    —————

Well in anycase, beware, they seem to be scamming nowadays..

Hello guys! Where to start… What would you do if someone sells you a bottle of juice, but at home you realise it’s a bottle of dirty water? You’d call your local authorities and the seller will be fined or jailed or otherwise persuaded to stop the fraud. Now what would you do if someone sells you a VPS, but few days later you realise it is oversold beyond any practicality and you can’t even reliably SSH to it? You could be angry as hell, but you would be able to do nothing about that (apart from telling everyone about your experience).

Feel myself quite stupid now. A VPS I bought from this “hosting provider” is not responsive, support tickets I send them are just being closed (yes, they don’t even bother to write an answer — just close them), PayPal wouldn’t open a dispute because it is too late, or the item is intangible, or they don’t offer refunds. So practically these guys stole my $25 and got away laughing.

Better donate your money to charity! This wouldn’t buy you a server either, but at least your money will be given to people who deserve it.

So people living on charity “deserve” your money? Hmm….

Otherwise, you are correct. 123systems are thieves.

  34. Hello,

What can i say about 123systems? I purchased a few openvz vps at $5/year and was fantastic for the first 2months then it all went downhill. I was monitoring the network and here’s the results http://f8luresig.mouselike.org/sig.png?/53829.png

After some hard & long thoughts, i knew my KVM with Bluevm was about to expire and with the poor uptime i decided to order a kvm with 123systems. Instant setup after payment was made and hasn’t let me down yet (Pure SSD) and network has been fantastic.

So after a good 3/4weeks i thought at that price i might as well order another kvm (Regular no SSD) which stated instant setup. I paid for it, and nothing? it was pending. After a few days they setup my KVM but funny enough it wouldn’t boot. Another ticket they said problem with server should be back in 10-15hours, so i waited. By this time i wasn’t happy as KVM wouldn’t boot still after 20+hours. I asked them to move it to another node and it started working as it should. Today i’ve purchased another KVM which states pending, i’m guessing it’s tried putting me on the same faulty node?

Other that these issues, 123systems are great for KVM only. I wouldn’t go with openVZ anymore as they must let users abuse the network or system.

Hello, I am using 123systems i wont recommend anyone to use 123systems service. They only charge you for downtime. If you are looking for a good VPS hosting use google select any company that fits your budget then find their review using Google “Company name VPS/Dedi Reviews”. Their staff is fool. Once my server get down they didn’t reply to my ticket for 48 hours and after this they replied ” We are looking into this Please Hold on”.
Invest a little bit more money but buy a GOOD VPS that provides you great uptime.
In end i would like to say
Buying a VPS from 123systems is wastage of money :) It is better to feed some poor instead of getting disturbed by 123systems !
Its a true review. If someone want proof i have proofs too i take screenshots and save them in a safe place :)

Just few days before I bought OpenVZ VPS for one year period, But unfortunately the VPS always got crushed and neither able to handle it from SolusVM nor connect via ssh also its IP (172.245.62.42) blocked listed by hotmail.com previously it seems used as spam IP.
I am sorry The response time to the tickets are very slow. So I have no choice just to write to lowendbox.

I am asking the owners of 123Systems if they can amend this problem by changing my node to KVM (1024MB RAM, 4 CPU cores, 2TB traffic and 20GB SSD) which is the same as I paid for OpenVZ (2048MB RAM, 4CPU cores, 3TB traffic and 35GB Disk) even though it has lower qualification than OpenVZ, but it is acceptable for me?

I filled a ticket about this issue, but unfortunately got no response

Worst VPS ever. Total scam. I don’t think it’s been available a single time I wanted to use it without having to file a ticket. I must have filed 20 tickets about the VPS being offline over the past 9 months.

When it was running, there were usually horrible performance problems making it practically unusable (like typing a single character would take 30 seconds).

I thought it might get better when 123systems changed ownership but it has not improved at all. The new ownership is actually slower at responding to tickets about the VPS being offline and I don’t their support people are fluent in English, not that they’d usually type more than a single word response anyway.

I haven’t used the VPS for a month and figured I’d check it out today. It’s down again. Tried signing in to the control panel which says there are no VPS’ found for my account. I wonder if they deleted it or whatnot….

Signed up for 1 year and 9 months past now. I’ve basically spent more time filing tickets than I did using the actual VPS.
