Andrew from 123Systems has sent me another interesting offer for the LowEndBox readers. Instead of discount on pricing, they are now offering buy any Linux VPS, get a Linux-256-SolusVM for free. So their cheapest virtual server package costs $6.95/month, and comes with

By using promo code ONE256FREE, you will get another VPS for free! Here are some terms and conditions
- You only get a Linux-256-SolusVM for free, no matter whichever size you purchased.
- Promo code must be entered to get your free server.
- Free server remains free for as long as you keep the main server.
- Offer expires on 11 July 2010.
- New sign up only.
We actually had some 2-for-1 offers before. They are good for staging server vs. production server. Or web server + DB server. Or production + DR. Or load balancer between the two. The use are endless. A tough call though to choose between this or their other exclusive offer (which is cheaper but requires yearly payment).

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
Paying yearly is actually costlier on this plan. not a big deal, just 3.5 cents but i was trying to see if it would be any cheaper.
Wow any plan & double, it’s so good news that I can test my gravatar (and yes-it-should-work)
@Paulmankipu — nope. It is not doubling your plan, but give you their smallest VPS package for free, no matter which plan size you order.
I’ll have the Linux-1GB-SolusVM and a domain (and yes-my-2k-bug-gravatar-should-be-still-there) I guess, but I need to think more of it, thanks.
Anyone actually received their 2nd VPS yet?
We have had more fraud orders just today than we’ve had in the past 3 months o_O..all from this blog.
@mina
Over 20 people have
@Andrew 20 ! to me it looks like a sinergy.
@Andrew — well that’s certainly the risk of going low end…
Yeah, We get tons of fraud orders from here (Only 1 or 2 actually make it past MaxMind Then the rest don’t make it past 2Checkouts Fraud review). No worries though, the amount of orders we get that are legit out weigh the fraud.
Well got both of mine yesterday(or day before it, can’t remember…damn summer), boxes are fast and on different nodes(so I can keep redundancy in case one of their nodes goes down).
Only strange thing is, that they don’t allow Reverse DNS on their Chicago location.
@Mina
We are still trying to get the rDNS interface up and running in chicago, It’s fully functional in Phoenix. Once it’s up & running in Chicago then you will be able to use rDNS in that location. Feel free to ask for rDNS on your Phoenix box for the time being though.
I’m already a client, if I order another vps i’ll still receive the extra one? thanks
No this promotional is for New Clients Only.
you can always switch to another provider that offers free migration and switch back.
honestly, I will never understand the way companies offer “new client only” promotion.
what do you do to keep your current customers then?
If you will look back we offer tons of promotions ranging from 35%-55% discounts for new clients or current clients, This promotional is to gain new clients, We already have existing promotions that current clients are welcome to use.
This offer is expired now..
I just bought one… i’m new in vps and this is my first time 😛
could anyone tell me where i should recieve my info and when????
No!
