Armorshark, LLC has been in business since May 2010 and aim to “provide affordable and sustainable high-performance VPS for anyone who wants the speed of SSD arrays at a fraction of the price”. I have to admit their website is very nice but is it me or is there logo of a whale? Nodes are are 100% owned and are equipped with the E3 1230v2 CPU, 32 GB+ DDR3 ECC RAM and multiple enterprise Samsung SSDs in Raid 10. Each node is backed up daily to an off-site storage cluster. This plan can also be bought for $18/six months or $36/year by using the coupon code LEBXMAS. With this kind of setup for the cost, I would love to see what benchmarks you guys get.

As well as the VPS hosting, Armorshark operate a corporate VPN network and a public VPN service (TigerVPNS.com). They accept payments via Paypal and Credit Card. They offer a 7-day money-back guarantee, however they reserve the right to deny or accept refund requests. Anything that is legal is fine but spamming, warez, torrenting sites, IRC or forging email headers are all strictly forbidden on their servers. As usual, more information can be gathered from reading their Terms of Service.

Interesting offer because location however their TOS forbid IRC servers which is not exactly the same as IRC clients (bouncer, irssi..) which many of use for communication.

Just got short response from them: “IRC clients are okay.” With this and my favourite US DC location they got my attention.

The coupon code LEB3.50 is a $2.49 recurring discount. However the coupon code LEBXMAS is 50% One Time Discount only valid on the quarterly and semi-annual payment. No coupon for annual payment.

    Mental provider name, top work!

Is this the company of the guy who started a thread in LET asking for ‘animal + one other word’ names?

Whale’s a stretch, but it doesn’t look much like a shark, let alone an ARMORSHARK.

Got it some hour ago and it’s not exactly the product we’re used to it.

    – no distros attached to CDrom, I picked Debian when I ordered vps and this is it. Nothing in SolusVM to reinstall it yet.

    – no IPv6 added by default. Decent support response, IPv6 addresses added to KVM through SolusVM – fail. But it work if I add it manually so not really issue.

    – package installation error:
Media change: please insert the disc labeled
    ‘Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.6 _Squeeze_ – Official i386 CD Binary-1 20120929-15:56’
in the drive ‘/media/cdrom/’ and press enter
(remove it from sources.list and you’re good to go)

    – Server is not overloaded (most likely new node), decent speed but it seems like it’s their first KVM hosting experience and they need to polish some details to make it fully acceptable for market. We will see how will go in future.

  8. Daily KVM backups is going to be painful for that node, if not impossible. A full E3 KVM node will take longer than a day to backup every VM.

    • Freek:

Noobie here, why is it impossible and will take so long?

      January 23, 2013 @ 3:03 pm | Reply
      • Impossible because SolusVM will start throwing errors when it tries to run a backup while one is still going on. KVM takes longer because the entire image is compressed, then rsynced AFAIK.

        January 24, 2013 @ 1:38 am | Reply
        • Not only that, I’m guessing it’s having to DD out the whole VM’s disk, then compress.

But, remember, even though the OS claims it’s ‘unused’ doesn’t mean it’s zeroed out. Your FS simply marked those blocks unused.

        • It’s possible… LVM snapshot all LV’s, mount and rsysnc?

  9. Your website claims 100% up time – what measures do you have in place for this to work? Also, there is nothing in the terms of service that I can find in regards to if there will be compensation or anything if servers go down.

It should be instantly. Check in your client area “My Products & Services” and “My Emails” section – just in case and if there’s nothing contact them.

strongly recommend this vpses for simple game servers, what need good ping around the world. Because (i was have large experience) Choopa have best peering in internet, (minimum delays ms) relative to other ISP
