  1. No link to TOS/AUP? Are we becoming slack or something?

Can you please mark as yearly? It’s not mentioned anywhere until you click and I find that rather misleading, because ONLY /mo is in the offer text. Was interested in Storage 2 until it required a year commit, and I never like to go yearly.

Hi Dillon I’m sorry about that issue. With our processor fees storage 1 and storage 2 are both yearly. It’s only ~20 bucks for the storage 2 for an entire year, do you think we should do it differently?

Centos 7 is possible. Openvpn is also possible, but keep in mind these are storage servers. If you want to use these for non storage related tasks I would urge you to purchase a kvm or openvz vps product.

This is not true, that 1TB limit is a soft cap. Nothing is suspended when you reach 1TB, it’s simply for administration purposes. Why would you even come here and say it’s not unlimited and to stay away if you haven’t tried to utilize the bandwidth?

I understand these, specifically Storage 2, come with root access. Is this via SSH? I am interested in using this for file sync and share. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this? I know SSH/SFTP/SCP can be used, if SSH is available. Is there any option to have other software installed, such as Owncloud, Bittorrentsync, or others? Thanks for your help, just wondering what options are have available. I appreciate the listing on LEB, and the great prices offered.

I just received an e-mail with the following message:

Suspended: Consistent high disk IO over 80-90% using the storage server as an application server with redis/apache/cron/exim processes. This is against our terms of service.

I’m using redis for my owncloud installation as Corey Manshack stated that was allowed on: https://lowendbox.com/blog/bitaccel-openvz-128mb-ram-30gb-hd-unmetered-in-dallas/

    Print attached.

If owncloud is not allowed please cancel my subscription and refund my payment.

ps** I’m the only owncloud user.

    Regards,
    ——————————————-
    Corey Manshack:
Ok so can you please tell me why your container accounted for 80-90% of the total disk IO on the server? Just running
owncloud should not cause this as I run owncloud myself and so do all of my family members.
    ——————————————-
    Me:
I’m sorry, but you are mistaken.

Owncloud uses mysql, redis, apache and I didn’t even start to upload my files, so if it overloaded the server means it’s not configured properly.

You can take a look on the bash history or the running processes and see for yourself.

Or don’t. Let’s solve it the quick way, please cancel my subscription and refund my payment.

    Thanks,
    ——————————————-
    Corey Manshack:
There will be no refunds after the abuse on your account. You can attempt to fix the issue as I’ve unsuspended your account and stopped your container. When you are ready to fix the issue you can login to your account to start the server and monitor the activity to fix the issue. Thank you.

I’d recommend going with something else. I started my account 6 days ago, and already cancelled. I’ve had connection issues, the control panel stopped working, and given the limited use (storage ONLY with 30GB) there are better options with exponentially more flexibility out there for only a couple dollars more.

    March 10, 2016 @ 5:21 pm | Reply
    • Corey Manshack:

Hi Rob we have determined this was because of a degraded RAID array taxing the CPU, nothing actually stopped working, just sometimes the php scripts in the control panel would timeout due to them taking too long to execute on the destination node.

    From ToS:

“…SSD storage on VPS nodes are meant for fast application access. If your account is found to be storing excessive backups or using SSD storage for long term file archiving you will be invoiced for a storage container and your backups will need to be moved there…”

So basically this is storage-vps which you can not use as storage. That’s clever! :-(

    May 16, 2016 @ 11:27 am | Reply
    • Jess:

Looks to me like they have two types of VPS; HDD storage (as in this offer) and SSD storage. The applicable restrictions for storage VPSes seem to be in the next paragraph of the ToS.

My reading of that section is that, essentially, you’re only able to use it for storing backups (which helps explain the ‘unlimited’ bandwidth at such a low price.)

      May 17, 2016 @ 4:57 am | Reply
      • BA-Corey:

That’s correct. These are basically for storing backups only, or running some low resource service. For example, I will suspend if you are running some kind of seeder or torrent downloader. I will not suspend if you are running a small site that doesn’t take much resources.

*do not* buy from these guys. I bought for testing purposes a few months ago. The server went down without explanation – I caught that cause I randomly checked one day :)
I opened a ticket, they told me that “yeah.. the machine is down. Your data is lost” just like that, casually :)
I asked something along the lines “I lost the whole container, I cannot retrieve anything” ? They just confirmed it, like this is the way it works – this is just another day, no big deal – we lost all the data.

Anyway tldr: NEVER buy from these guys. EVER. It’s not worth the time. Just look for a normal VPS provider, even if you pay 3x 4x, you are getting what you paid for.
