How exactly is it abuse when you use the resources you paid for? Your logic seems to defy reason.

That said, WeLoveServers are extremely nice and will generally allow you run non demanding game servers, like MineCraft.

        • Excellent points mentioned by Garret and Fritz. However, we are willing to make exceptions if we feel that the gameserver will not cause resource abuse or performance isuses to others. Doesn’t hurt to open a ticket or fire us an email (sales [at] weloveservers [dot] net) and ask :]

No not really. Dozens of countries’ visa/mastercard are not accepted because the entire country is omitted in the drop down list when checking out; this is the reason behind several hosts using 2co, etc.

    • Greetings,

There is absolutely no correlation and we already made an update about this at our server status page: https://core.weloveservers.net/serverstatus.php

We had to reboot one of our servers (Node25 – LA) to a more stable kernel as we were experiencing issues with the previous kernel. It took less than a few minutes to reboot and apply the new kernel. VPS on Node25 are booting atm.

    • I’m happy to see that it was resolved for you. Everyone is and has been benchmarking their brand new servers, so you most likely noticed the less-than-desirable disk I/O results as there were new customers who were running benchmarks simultaneously. Real life performance wise? This won’t really matter. But benchmark results should only get better once the amount of benchmarks that are being ran simultaneously by customers cool down. @Christopher Boswell
just bought one yesterday, and I really enjoy it, great performance and the ticket is always amazingly answered in 10min (5min most of the time). However I found myself made a mistake while choosing the data center, and the ping seems to be at least 400ms:(

I’m wondering whether I can have the VPS transferred to LA? Thanks:P

    • Do you have a ticket ID? Please go ahead and submit a ticket and paste the transaction ID from PayPal, we’ll add the payment to the system and activate your server.

Sometimes PayPal IPN does not always report the payment back to WHMCS if the system is overloaded or busy at the time of ordering, there are various technical reasons as well (that could either be related to PayPal’s IPN servers, or our WHMCS server being busy) but 99.9% of the time after a payment is sent to PayPal, the IPN reports it back to WHMCS immediately and then the invoice is marked as paid automatically. However, a couple times per month we may have to manually add in a payment or two if the IPN for whatever reason did not report the invoice back to WHMCS as PAID.

    • I believe I found your ticket and consider this resolved. The payment has been applied to your invoice and your server is activated. If there is anything else let me know.

Actually, I was just at the phone with Host-dime Limited and I asked them about welove servers and if they are a their re-sellers..

and yes they are Hostdime re-sellers with their names registered in the system..
So at least now we know that they are some REAL persons. But of course weloveservers are much cheaper than hostdime.. So I don’t see any problem supporting them guys.. they seem to cut the cost by having no big call centers or live chat which of course very costly..

So, far I’m enjoying their servers and this background check that i did was because I didn’t believe how they could pull off such an offer and they are just small re-sellers.. Hostdime BTW don’t take any responsibility in case the re-sellers quite their subscription with them.. but so far WELOVESERVERS is a small company that is trying to bring their services to people and i hope we could help them as they helped us so far..

and i hope ur new website say at least a bit about u guys… sorry for doubting you.. but i had ;)

Perhaps because people are running benchmarks repeatedly? Just a thought :) I’ve been with WLS for a few months, no complaints. For $19 its a hell of a deal. Servers are very respectable once people get over benchmarking the hell out of them.

    • Greetings,

All orders are instantly activated. The hostname can be a single word, or a FQDN… but it *must* be longer than 4 characters, or the system won’t activate the order automatically.

I believe I know who you are, as you are the only pending order in the system for today as all other orders were instantly activated. You ordered with a 3 character hostname, which is exactly why your server wasn’t instantly activated. I have modified your hostname to meet this criteria and your server login details have been sent…

    • Good Evening,

That’s not normal. Have you opened a support ticket yet? Sounds like a failed (or pre-failing) drive in the RAID10 on the server that needs to be replaced… we’re checking now but if you could open a ticket we can provide you with more information and implement a resolution.

Come on guys,, let us give them some slack!

They are re-seller company. This means that it takes them time to contact data-centers and request help as much as you are requesting it from them. So this chain of requests takes time before eventually solving the issue. Other than that WLS are doing their best. I myself have a UK account and doing super great. there was only a one time my vps did not respond at all but that’s normal guys with all companies. But it’s all about how fast companies deal with them..

dear sms, you must be joking? You should try the services of other providers. I have a server at ramnode, prometeus, buyvm – last year I never have a single problem. WLS has problems with disk performance in UK and it was discussed many times. I have almost every week to create the ticket due to low disk IO. And this is not normal.

  119. Greetings,

We are aware of slower than usual performance occurring with a couple of our UK servers and that is due to the RAID array rebuilding to ensure data consistency. During a rebuild, it keeps the drives busy syncing data between the drives. As with every server, a RAID rebuild is required after a failed drive has been hotswap-replaced.

We have set the rebuild to a low priority in order to allow your VPS to still be usable during the raid consistency rebuild but during this process performance will be slower than usual.

Any questions please raise a support ticket.

    Chris

Cid, my advice… just go with another host. These guys are not honest. They’re several quality hosts on this site, weloveservers isn’t one of them. Opening tickets won’t help, they’ll just move you to another oversold node or tell you that the server is fine. Take this from a customer who got robbed by these guys.

I would have loved WLS , if they do something about the deteriorating Disk performance. the slow DISK i/o is causing lot of troubles. I have a ramnode VPS and their I/O never drops below 400 MB/s , while with WeLoveServers , the TOP I/O i ever got on US/UK and DE locations was 20 to 50 MB/s at its best. i dont mind 20 or 30 MB/s BUT if raid syncing etc occurs , it gets below 10 MB/s. I have given up raising tickets about it , and i will just wait until

I love the support thought , Christopher is a nice person and knows how to deal his customers and also knows the technical howto’s.

        • A couple of our UK servers had some failing hard drives because the vendor had a bad shipment of HDD’s so the affected servers were hotswap replaced. As with every server after a failed drive replacement the raid array must rebuild and confirm data integrity. Unfortunately this can be a lengthy process depending on the size of the array and during this process it does slow down performance.

All of our US servers have not been affected by this bad shipment of HDD’s… but only a couple of our UK servers. Once the raid rebuild is complete on those UK servers performance will be back to normal. We have the rebuild set to low priority right now so at least your VPS is still usable during this process and the rebuild won’t be using all of the disk IO :]

Are you guys talking about disk speeds on the UK or UK servers? Submitted a ticket a few days amg got a response that “UK Node 33 is working perfectly” (after some steps taken by thew company). Now the average speed is about 50 Mb/s. It’s quite a difference to your 256 and 381 Mb/s. Wondering why this is so. I would still like to know what are the company’s target figures for the UK servers.

      # dd if=/dev/zero of=$HOME/test.out bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
      16384+0 records in
      16384+0 records out
      1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 3.7417 s, 287 MB/s

On my BUF node in US:
      # dd if=/dev/zero of=$HOME/test.out bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
      16384+0 records in
      16384+0 records out
      1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 7.3139 s, 147 MB/s

Having said that, it does vary somewhat; I’ve seen it go as low as 50 MB/s too. It depend whether your neighbours are running lots of I/O-heavy processes.

But even 50 MB/s is more than enough for most processes, so I don’t really see any issue there.

Weloveservers had alot of problems with the disk I/O. So they are using SSD caching on all the newer nodes and the old nodes will momentarily be upgraded to this. So it you will get better I/O when your node gets upgraded

    Hi,

I’ve been with WLS for around 3 month’s now and had a few issue’s at first the the UK node – ticket opened and they moved me onto another node without any problems.

Few benchmarks here and there and all seems fine – network a bit slow at times but nothing major.

I think it’s expected when on a UK node as they are very popular and seems to be targeted a lot.

Anyway support has been outstanding – very fast responce!

I’m now in the process of moving my VPS onto the buffalo node as I no longer require UK and they done this within 5 minuets of my ticket been open, WLS offer exccellent support and it backs up there promises.

Hope the buffalo location is excellent – will post benchmark later on.

I have been a customer of WLS since 4/17/13, and since then I see I have submitted 20 support tickets. In all those tickets I’ve never had a ticket not be responded to in the same day. The last 10 tickets I submitted got an average response time of 19.2 minutes, including technical questions relating to setup and not VPS issues, sales questions, and software installation stuff. 2 hour response time? I’ve never seen it so I can’t say for how honest your statement is.

    Hi,

I’d like to compliment how WLS just responded to an issue.

I was experiencing slow disk writes on my VPS node for a couple of days; decided to wait to see if it would improve. It didn’t, and I was getting between 20 – 50MB/s write speed, which was causing unnecessary load on my VPS, and even perpetually causing the first SSH attempt to fail.

I sent in my “dd” screen shots, VPS IP address, location, and node number (very important to do this so that their technicans can solve your problem quickly; providing more information is always much better than providing less). I got the initial response in 21 minutes. After asking me to test disk writes a few more times, the issue was completely resolved within two hours, which is really great because getting to the root of this issue was not trivial.

It turned out that “there was an abuser on the network sending DDoS attacks which was causing this, but we’ve caught and terminated him just a few minutes ago. Everything will be stable here on out.”

    So two conclusions:

    (1) WLS technicians are really spot on and respond quickly to issues.
    (2) Those of you who are thinking of abusing resources will be caught and your account will be terminated by WLS.

Hope this helps people who are still deciding whether to go with WLS. They are a great company and my experience with them have so far been nothing but stellar.

Thank you again, Ulrich and George.

  150. I ordered Black Friday deal. Running for couple of months and here is my opinion.
Best price anywhere for this kind of setup.
Feels that Christopher Boswell really cares about his customers, as his replies are courteous and fast. One of the reasons I will stay with their service.

We (customers) gets real impatient. Sometimes things just take time.

Problems, One of the support staff really don’t read the support tickets carefully as I didn’t get the answer on question I asked. This was only with one person. Could be new employee, but wasn’t a big deal.
Couldn’t check the status of their service through their Control Panel. Sometimes it just doesn’t. Server could be busy, but not a big deal as long as my sites are up and running.

I will reccomend using their service.

    • We did indeed recruit and take on a new support member last month. I believe he was still in training at the time. He is more familiar and comfortable with our backends by this point so that should not be an issue again.

      Thanks for the recommendation!

    • Greetings,

I know we were running software updates on all of our VPS Nodes today, so its likely you just ran the disk speed test and caught us in the midst of running system updates, resulting to a slower result as servers were busy. At this point all systems have completed its updates so if you are still experiencing an issue then submit a ticket.

So this is an old thread but I still need to voice my complaint somewhere. We had our servers from this deal shut off because they changed the acceptable use policy AFTER this deal, and were never given a refund on the hundreds of dollars we spent. I have sent dozens of emails to WLS staff, and kept getting the same response of “we will issue you a refund after the holidays” or “we will pass this to our managers” and nothing ever came of it.

SO I HIGHLY recommend you NOT use WeLoveServers. The machines are overcrowded anyway.

I was initially happy with them after signing up on Black Friday, but for the past several months my VPS has had severe speed issues with disk I/O. Just now:

    root@vps:~# dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync
    16384+0 records in
    16384+0 records out

    16384+0 records out
    1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 167.092 s, 6.4 MB/s

Even simple commands like ‘ls’ and ‘rm’ take several seconds to complete.

Their support team been quick to respond to the many tickets I’ve opened about this (usually a few hours), but unfortunately they can’t seem to do much. Their nodes are either very crowded or plagued with abusers. Even after a switch to a new node, disk performance remained poor.

I would not recommend going with WLS.

    • Good Morning,

The only thing is that after moving to Kent, I have Xeon L5520 CPUs instead of Xeon E3-1230v2 which I had in NY. In rankings L5520 seems to be much worse, but I don’t need better CPUs at this moment, so I didn’t report that to the support.

TUN/TAP and PPP are successfully enabled on your VPS, and you can verify that by typing “cat /dev/net/tun” and “/usr/sbin/pppd” in a SSH prompt.

        Dear Chris,
I have been with your team on the ticket. I have setup the vpn exactly the same way that I have configured it with a couple of other service providers. I would not take names here obviously. I have used the same source and use the same configs and used the same options. Would you take my word for it? The configs are totally identical, yet due to some reason I am unable to connect to WLS server via any kind of pptp client using any kind of internet connection available in my area. Though I am able to connect to other provider servers just fine using the same technique.
I would appreciate if this issue it reqolved as its almost 17 days now since the ticket was opened.

        • You need to remember that our support duty as far as an unmanaged service is concerned when it comes for customers wanting to set up VPN are enabling the TUN TAP and PPP modules, which we’ve already done and you can confirm that we did do that with the commands that I supplied above. You can also toggle on / off TUN TAP and PPP from the VPS CP.

You need to remember that just because you are following the same technique to install it doesn’t mean much really… plenty of different things such as software version, architecture, operating system, and more can impact how a software functions. From experience I know that sometimes setting up OpenVPN can be a bit tricky as just one line of a misconfiguration in a config file can cause it not to function properly.

With that said I’m happy to work with you to implement a resolution to your OpenVPN issue. I have taken over your ticket request so please respond and we’ll go from there…

Beware. I will be cancelling. The server was running fine for several months but in the last 4 days, my VPS has shut down 5 times.

This has happened since they rebooted the server with a new kernel after CVE-2014-3519 on June 24th, 2014.

I’ve had to manually power the VPS back on each time through the control panel. I’ve asked for an explanation and this is what I get, after the fifth time:

“Your VPS has been booted up again. But there is no issue with the hostnode now. I will monitor your server now to avoid those things in future. “

    • As you know, we recently had to upgrade the kernel on our host nodes in order to patch kernel exploits that have came to light including CVE-2014-3519. We noticed a few issues on some of our nodes after upgrading the OpenVZ kernel to 2.6.32-042stab090.3, but everything has been rock solid since we upgraded to 2.6.32-042stab090.5. Be very wary of these guys. I too purchased during the black friday sale and things appeared to be working well in the beginning. Their service has greatly slowed down in recent months. You can expect routine downtime on a regular basis coupled with massive lag in i/o for long periods.

Even worse, twice now in 2 days my vps (Centminmod, hosting 3 wordpress sites and nothing else) has gone down and they had to manually reboot it. The first time they said my load was too high, I checked and it spiked to about 40% cpu usuage for a minute. Today I manually induced a high load event to see what would happen and sure enough it went down again within a few minutes. I say high load, but it was actually a bit less than 30% load for 4vpus consistent for short period. According to top my load average was 1.8 for a 1 minute period, at which point it went down.

Needless to say, I’m searching for a more reliable provider as I type this.

    • It sounds like a confined problem, but I can tell you right now that we do not stop or suspend VPS for using a 1.8 server load as that is not classified as abusive usage. Send me an email at c.boswell [at] weloveservers [dot] net and I will get to the bottom of this matter.

Is this offer still valid? The cart shows the correct prices, but this offer is from last year.

    Anyone ordered recently?

I purchased two of the 1GB yearly offers, setup was instant and I had no problems. Around 30 minutes after buying the two I submitted a ticket(“08/01/2014 06:00”) asking if the 1GBps upgrade was still available and if so could I have it for my two servers, 12 minutes later I received a response telling me it was done! Great support, even though it’s been slightly less than an hour I’m already loving it.

    • Hi Dias
First, your sites may need to be optimized. Check the following for windot:
      http://gtmetrix.com/reports/www.windots.com/5LvOBGsn
Your travola site is not loading at all. Doesn’t seen like server problem.

I have been “We Love Servers” client since Dec 2013. Got the black friday deal.
Their response to tickets is SUPER FAST. Never any problem.
Had some issues with network speed but wasn’t a big issue. I run five Shoutcast radio streams. Needed to upgrade hard drive. Got it done with no problem. Last month used all the bandwidth and upgraded to 4TB with no problem.
Only problem I had that I found few times that my server is powered off. Their support staff couldn’t figure out why my server is off. For that reason I have to keep a watch on my server. Server is in Florida.

I am running on dedicates and VPS servers since 2009 and in hosting my own sites since 1988 (Yup, since 1988, Ran a Mustang BBS). And I have seen most of the times it is our script that is causing the problem. Not saying that script is to blame all the time.

      obrigado

Great price, only issue is their images seem completely and utterly filled with bloat. Debian 7 came preinstalled with X, more fonts than I can count, Apache2, gimp(!?!), ffmpeg, etc…

Like I said, great price, but they really need to consider a minimal install, let the user install anything else.
