    • As long as it’s legal in the USA it’s allowed
You can run any program you want on it

    • Please follow http://www.cloudshards.com/terms.php if clarification is required. No Exit TOR, no IRC, no public proxy/vpn and illegal content.

      • So we can generally install our own software on the backup server (as long as it is not CPU/IO heavy, of course)? :)

        • Sure, it’s a VPS. That’s what it’s for. Cloud Shards doesn’t monitor or control what you do. Storage VPS is simply a plan with more storage, less CPU and RAM. No other differences to a normal VPS except specs.

But you say that as if the OP didn’t say CDN isn’t allowed. That sounds like a gray area to me, probably why so many questions. I can’t host the images from my website here?

          January 14, 2013 @ 4:52 am | Reply
        • CDN is allowed. This is simply a mistake in the posting. I have contacted LowEndBox to correct this.

        • The CDN issue has been corrected in the OP thanks to LowEndBox. Do let us know if you have any further questions and/or problems. We do offer 24/7 Support.

      • Jon:

Just curious but why is IRC not allowed? I need a backup plan but would like to have a irc bouncer as well.

        January 23, 2013 @ 6:25 am | Reply
        • Hi Jon,

I’m the lead tech, also an avid IRC user. However, the issue is that our DCs are the ones restricting IRC usage – we don’t really particularly care to restrict it, for we ourselves are users.

Which location are you interested in? I believe the rules vary a bit.

Just to check: Tor exit nodes are not allowed, but running a hidden service is allowed?

    January 15, 2013 @ 12:27 am | Reply
    • Exit TOR is not allowed. Otherwise, anything that is not in the exclusion list, isn’t illegal and doesn’t abuse any services is fine.

If you have further questions or queries, please contact sales @ http://www.cloudshards.com/contact.php. Thanks for the interest.

  6. We have had a VPS from these guys since their first listing. Pingdom is showing 99.97% in the last month, better than URPad’s 80%. Thanks!

    January 15, 2013 @ 9:13 am | Reply
    • That most likely is due to the 8 minutes or so of downtime Colocrossing’s switch replacement caused us last month.

Regardless, we’re glad to hear that you’re happy with the service.

  7. So, no VPN allowed on this VPS? Unfortunately I search for VPS that I can run OpenVPN on it.

    January 18, 2013 @ 1:54 am | Reply
    • VPN for private usage is allowed. AS long as it is not a public service. Thanks for your interest!

  8. Thanks for all the interest so far. We have just restocked since being sold out. Enjoy!
