Shamelessly copied AUP from RamNode? It might be a good service, but I’ll pass.

    • We have not copied the AUP from RAMNODE, but we have however looked at the AUP of several other hosts, including RAMNODE, and put these together. There is not much you can fit into an AUP, and they can’t all be unique.

You haven’t copied from Ramnode’s AUP? Interesting.

Here’s the where “Ramnode” appears in your AUP: http://damianharouff.name/images/ramnodeaup.png

        • Hi Damian,
I just set up the systems and haven’t read through our AUP thoroughly enough to notice this. I just checked it and saw this. This is an extremely embarrassing fault, and I’ll be sure to change our AUP completely. My sincere apologies, especially towards Ramnode.

This isn’t about RamNode. Please re-program your ‘Ramnode rocks’ posting bot to check thread titles better ;) j/k.

  5. Hello,

On behalf of CraftYourBox I would like to apologize for the confusion here. I was not made aware that our AUP was taken from Ramnode. I sincerely apologize for any trouble this has caused Ramnode, LowendBox and anyone else affected. We are currently working on removing this and putting up a new, non copyrighted AUP. If you have any comments or concerns feel free to email me at nick@craftyourbox.com

  6. To further respond to the AUP issue that these have encountered,

It’s not uncommon for providers to copy others TOS/AUP, infact, it happens alot of the time, the biggest mistake here being the word ‘RAMNODE’ in the AUP.

Don’t flake off a provider because they copied another’s AUP/TOS. Their nodes seem pretty quiet and perfect for a standard VPS.

I do have a question about the TOS.

The TOS says “By accessing this web site, you are agreeing to be bound by these web site Terms and Conditions of Use, all applicable laws and regulations,”. There is no mention in the TOS of which state’s “applicable laws and regulations” apply to the TOS (i.e. the legal jurisdiction and venue for the TOS contract). I’m assuming that the legal jurisdiction is NOT Wisconsin since there is no record of a “CraftYourBox LLC” being incorporated in Wisconsin (WHOIS shows the domain is registered to an individual in Wisconsin not to an LLC).

So, my questions are, A) if I signup and agree to the TOS (i.e. enter into a binding contract with “CraftYourBox LLC”) if a dispute arises, in which state’s courts will any disputes be decided, and B) in which state is “CraftYourBox LLC” incorporated?

Purchased yesterday. VPS operated flawlessly for the entire migration. Last night and today the node has been unresponsive on several occasions lasting up to 15 minutes. Even SSH login is unresponsive and times out. Upon recovery our Apache service has to be manually restarted. Something’s seriously amiss with this service. If they get this issue resolved it’s worth 5 stars.

      • Hi,
What do you mean with migration? We have not had any node changes or migrations for our VPS nodes, only our gameserver nodes. I will investigate your ticket now.

Hi Jordy. We migrated from another server to yours. When the node works, it’s great. When it suffers this unresponsive period it kills our apache service and we have to manually restart it each time. This has happened several times today. We can’t SSH in or anything when it happens. I’m sure this is not a reflection on your service overall, instead I think there’s just something wrong with this particular server. Thank you for looking into this.

  9. Purchased yesterday, the node I’m on was working GREAT at first. Very fast. However today the VPS is unresponsive. Running simple commands through SSH are taking forever to respond, not to mention 2+ minutes for our website to respond. Check for yourself: androidtvbox.us. As a side note, as stated earlier, our website was blazing fast yesterday when we finished the migration from our past host. Unless this gets resolved this service is getting 0 stars from us.

Do you have any limits on:
    1) Number of sent Emails per day/month?
    2) Number of IP addresses

    February 1, 2013 @ 12:50 pm | Reply
    • We do not have limits for this, as long as they follow our TOS/AUP.
You can send as many mails as you like, as long as these are not spam, contain anything illegal, or cause a heavy load on the node. Upon ordering you can order 3 extra IP’s, resulting in a total of 4 IP’s. If you require additional IP’s you will need to open a ticket, and we will take care of this.

Was working great for a few days. Man, when their servers are working they are blazing fast! — however our node has been down for the entire day today. Since our websites are mission critical for our company we’re going to have to painstakingly migrate to a new host again. We can recommend this service for anything if it’s not critical, however for our needs this is the worst situation we’ve ever encountered for hosting.

    • Hi Kristopher,
Like we talked about we had an issue with our datacenter, which put our port speed down to 10mbit, resulting in a traffic jam as you might understand. This should have been fixed and you should not have any further issues. If you have any more questions feel free to give us a call at +1 888-666-0257 or open a ticket.
