Cripperz Prodigy - $10/Year (+$1 Setup) 64MB OpenVZ VPS in Kansas City

Updated February 2012: Cripperz Prodigy website has been showing 500 Internal Error for 2 weeks. Many have reported their VPS dead. I don’t think they are still in operation.

Cripperz Prodigy Here is the offer Haas from Cripperz Prodigy has sent me, which he has also posted in LowEndTalk earlier this month. Two promo codes available for following two OpenVZ/SolusVM plans:

  • CheapVPS Blowout
  • 64MB memory
  • 10GB storage
  • 500GB/month data transfer
  • $10/Year (+$1 setup fee, coupon code LEBNOV01, Direct Signup Link)
  • CheapVPS Bronze
  • 256MB guaranteed/384MB burstable memory
  • 20GB storage
  • 500GB/month data transfer
  • $2.50/Month (+$1 setup fee, coupon code LEBNOV02, Direct Signup Link)

Payment in either PayPal or AlertPay. I suspect the 64MB offer has 128MB burstable memory as noted in my previous post. Servers in Kansas City MO with Datashack. They are based in Singapore (so you can put “lah” at the end of every sentence in support tickets), they’ve started in 1998 as a PC shop, had a bit of transformation over the years and now doing web hosting + design stuff. They had also been mistaken as a dead pooler last month, which Haas posted a response on his blog.

I am thinking to just use a html page now, with tables, no frames, no design, black and while and just put every static link to whmcs … that way, some smart ass wont say its nulled, etc

Actually, on OpenVZ that should be, “test ur skills by using 32mb.”

It would be impossible to come close to “using 64mb”.

      • Bob:

Why don’t you mix yearly & monthly plans? That would help share the load on the different servers…

(That could slow down even the montly plans, which would probably not be a good idea though)

        :D

        • @Bob

i might have missed out your comments there. Well normally the year plan users are on lower specs and what they have usually are openvpns, pptp, some irc bots, small web which is definitely easier to cluster them all together because their usage wont be that high other than the bandwidht. So i can always keep an eye on the bandwidth bottleneck instead of monitoring everything that matters to load balance the use / fair usage.

Thats the reason why i separate the monthly users and the yearly users onto a different box. The monthly users do contribute quite a significant bit and so far good to know that none of them really open a ticket for anything other than tun/tap request. Usually the monthly users are more skilled / advance users who usually knows what they are doing and why they need such config – what they will / should be getting. so yeah..

  8. Someone in the datacenter knocked my power cables again? the vpssvr3 was shutdown =/. Sorry guys. vpssvr4 is not affected though. So those on vpssvr3 are mainly the yearly users might experience a short downtime.. rebooting the server back online.

Guess I’ll throw in my thoughts.

I’ve got 2 VPS with Cripperz, the Basic and Blowout at $20/yr and $10+1/yr respectively. The Blowout one does have 128MB burst. One is offline at this moment, and one is online. I use the cheaper as an IRC bouncer and personal proxy, and I don’t even use the more expensive one because I have no other side projects and it’s too unreliable for a production environment.

Haas is a nice guy, but I wouldn’t host any important websites or services on these servers because of the downtimes and performance issues.

At $11 though, it’s decent enough for personal use I guess.

P.S. Clean up your IRC channel, it’s full of spammers.

    • @kalam,

thanks for the feedback. Yes what you advise is a good one. The 10/year will be reliable enuff as an alternative backup vps, proxy, vpn, etc. vpssvr3 seems to have performance issue and i been figuring out how to careful load balance that buffalo properly =x … however for those per month plans, you will always be put to another node which is vpssvr4 where equal share of node resource is being given out without tweaking any of the settings.

I will try and normalize vpssvr3 again. What a bad luck, the server just went off / trip on the day LEA posted my offer ..haha ..life!

It was working fine on Friday day time in Singapore as all my corporate email hosting are there. No worries looking into. Vpssvr3 was working fine until lately, thanks to the sudden power outage. I bought a VPS from Cripperz and paid in advance for 1 year. A few months in, my VPS went down and support tickets when unanswered. I contacted “Haas” and was promised a working VPS or a refund. Soon, all emails went unanswered. What gives “Haas”?

    November 13, 2011 @ 2:44 am | Reply
    • Hey lowender,

amazing you are still around. If you paid the vps via Paypal, just click dispute for refund. Otherwise, just open a ticket because i already mentioned that we had massive spams of anon tickets on our system back then which causes us to just delete all the ticket. You are one of the 9 customers on colorado server which we discontinued. Some of those customers are happily in Kansas now. So its your choice. Open a damn ticket rather than throwing your tantrum publicly which will not resort to any resolution.

      November 13, 2011 @ 12:45 pm | Reply
      • Lowender:

You should contact a customer prior to terminating their service, especially when it is your fault. I have emailed you directly, so this excuse of your system being spammed is irrelevant. In any case, your reply above, “Open a damn ticket rather than throwing your tantrum publicly” – nice quote. It’s nice to know how you treat your customers. I’m not interested in giving you another chance when you clearly have some business skills to work on. Good Luck.

        November 13, 2011 @ 8:28 pm | Reply
        • @Lowender i think seeing this “terminating their service” scam alot and all i can tell you is, open a ticket and let me see what you purchased. I do not have anyone by the name of “Lowender” in my whmcs database and i have no clue who are you to begin with. I did not terminate anyone’s service and yes the colorado was a mishap on my end with 9 users affected. Yes 9 users out of the many that i have with me. And out of that 9 users, some have agreed to move into Kansas server while 2 of them requested for termination of service and these guys are just paying by per month basis – they have been been refunded via paypal dispute. I do not have a 1 year term contract as what you claim. Open a ticket, i fix it as simple rather than you going to each of my review page telling people how bad was the experience which i wonder do you ever got anything better to do?

I will of course offer the same offer that i gave to the previous affected colorado box users. Get your money refunded or move you to kansas box. Either way, i asked to open a ticket using the same account that you first purchased the service. Everyone else already done it and things have been resolved except you. So when are you gonna open a ticket and resolve this or you still prefer to publicly attack me etc ?

Seriously, thats the business skill i have, never bow down, never say die. Sadly my focus have pretty much shifted, i prefer to have a small base of customers that i know i can mutually gain the bond / respect than having plenty of noobs tarnishing the good name of the group without understanding what they paid for.

I think i made myself pretty clear now. =).

Even I can’t agree with that and I don’t think most providers here would either. If you’re doing something illegal or causing trouble on the server that I own, causing trouble for my other clients, and rely on to put food on my table, your ass is gone. Yes, I’ll send you an email afterwards but you’re account is closed.

I may let you back if you’re honest but 99% of the folks who I have ToS’ed aren’t.

I wasn’t terminated for doing anything wrong. I was terminated because they apparently lost their contract with the server I was hosted on(as stated in his reply). In any case, I’m not here to start a revolution but just to post my experience for others. Good luck with your hosting company, Haas.

you are smart to answer and divert the objective of the whole thing. The fact is that i do not want your money if you are not happy with the service. Neither do i wanna be labeled as running away with that money because is not doing me any good either. I asked you to file a paypal dispute if opening a ticket is such a trouble for you to do so, i will gladly grant the full refund through that dispute. I dont see anything wrong in filing a paypal dispute if its on a correct course / reason. For this case, your colorado server wasnt terminated but service with the provider that i am with was ended causing a service distruption to you. More than enough reason for you to file a dispute via paypal and get your money back, which i will gladly comply. cheers

I think you need to check your attitude, and your overall appearance. If I were a customer, just by seeing the way you talk to an existing customer would make me not want to sign up with you. Also, you should check your spelling and punctuation. I also do consider what he is doing a “public tantrum”, but more of a “what is going on”.

Be nicer, and you will make it longer :)

It is not something that is going on. It is something that he dragged along despite all the options given to resolve it. And claiming that i run away with his money? Why cant he just open a ticket or file a paypal dispute? Its not whats going on, its more of a has been that just came along to start spoiling a new thread again.

Again Chris, do you know what is actually going on before advising me of my attitude? You know this guy is really pissing me over the top with all his whinings that i ran away with his money which is probably US$10 or US$15? Seriously with all the options given to him, have a new vps server or get a refund, open a ticket / file a paypal dispute. What is so difficult if you are really a legit user. Unless another troll around here.

Makes me wonder, @Lowender, did you purchase the vps with a hacked paypal account or something that made you NOT OPEN A TICKET FOR ME TO CHECK ON YOU?

Every provider has problem clients that follow them around that give them bad publicity, its natural you cannot make EVERYONE happy. However; that being said you cannot lose your cool and make yourself look stupid. The way you acted above, shows you are immature. Take situations on professionally and do not show any anger or frustration. Anyone reading this regardless of the situation does not want to see a provider yelling or insulting anyone.

This was just a heads up to help you out in the future, hopefully you will take it as it is good advice.

  31. Hi

some new users on vpssvr3 will be moved to vpssvr2. This applies only to new users as i will not do any migration. Simply just deleting that vps and creating you to a new node. As for vpssvr3, the filesystem errors and scan should normalize real soon. However if you still experiencing problem, just open a ticket and i will attend to it – dont rant here as it do no good either =p.

All orders have been processed. Cheers and i hope things will settle down and everyone can do their own things now =). Will be around still so just open a ticket.

Is Solus working? Weird thing is that even though solus says “off”, the i.p works, and none of the stats

open a ticket so that i can take a look at it. I do note that there was a user who tried to re-install to a different os template and it didnt work on vpssvr2 because the template did not finish syncing between servers. I have manually uploaded most of the template. So yeah, open a ticket so that i know who you are exactly and i will fix it.

        • @drmike haha you misunderstood. I realized that the solusvm didnt finish syncing the templates when i rebooted the newly installed node config with mod tun and pptpd modules to launch on every host node reboot. So the best part is the master Solusvm still thought that it is online and still attempt to sync the templates which it is not exactly doing. Despite its being listed on the enduser page, that template does not physically exist. I had to do a manual upload to the template cache folder in the host node and that took awhile.

What happened was he reinstalled with a non physically exist template between my process of fixing the template cache. So yeah, he saw it was installed but of course it wont boot because there is no template in the cache. Thats why solusvm still indicated it as offline.

yes, if the IP works means your server will work, just ssh in. There is no need to use solusvm to control your VM as this is not KVM or Xen / Windows o/s that you need a remote console. If ssh works, i am sure you can start or boot your services via ssh.

I do also notice that the status on solusvm is not reliable at the moment, let me look into it, something that i might have tweak during the reboot, a solusvm module / daemon or something. However i am sure most of the vps containers have already successfully booted up.

yeah he isnt trolling. But i wonder if IP can ping and you can ssh in, whats the use of solusvm thereafter when you already configured your vps. I do note that he has been a per year plan customer for 4 months now. So yeah, its not fun when you had problems with your node “unexpectedly” and working hard all day long to normalize things and all you get is – Solusvm is not working. =/

Well like i mention again, open a ticket and i will deal with it. Ranting here will just waste more time and energy having the fingers thumping onto the keyboards – Lucky mine is a Dell =/.

Also it was funny to say that i have been first posted here on June, between that period till now, nobody actually emailed to my support email to say that “hey my vps is not working since first day i bought (back in june)” until today. Really keeps me wondering, who are this people and why are they refusing to open a damn ticket – of course dont mentioned my ticket woes back then when i had thousands of tickets swamping my mailbox.

    • Hi guys,

i really be honest. For those 64mb plans, i do not see why is there a need for such impressive / excessive I/Os. Again, there must be an objective before performing a benchmark. From what i commonly see in LEB, most people just do benchmark just to compare among vps providers. For my case, i did tweak the i/o priority on 64mb and 128mbs vpses. On a normal priority you would probably get about 60 to 80. Just some of the tweaking to balance things up on the box. I do however monitor its performance reasonably.

Not to point fingers at anyone and dont get me wrong, most of the per year plan buyers use it for backup vps, vpn, irc. There are still quite a small number who actually uses it and abuse it from time to time which made me took this measure.

The box was at FDC and had 5 – 10 clients on it, but instead of paying the bill so people got their data, he simply cancelled it and reprovisioned in his other location(s). This isn’t a rumour, he admits it in some earlier sales posts.

  95. Hey guys, Datashack screwed me well later between december and january, i decided that its not worth the saving and argument with them. Im arranging to survey out a couple of other host and resume service. Nonetheless, i did tweet out a couple of times to ask people to back up their stuff as the server is going offline – weeks before it eventually did went offline.

I did not send out via WHMCS becoz as you can see on previous post, there was an exploit again on WHMCS 4.5 and we were affected then my web got hit too. So yeah too messy to deal with all of it but i will deal with these + datashack mistakenly null route some of my IP after they shifted their billing platform from WHMCS to some other, all records was not tally. Learning turf, i will sort out for a better structure before i actually start the vps service again.

I have the list of records of users who actually paid for what, those filed for paypal disputes, not to worry, i will be processing those disputes to have ur money return to you =) … till next time – mostly likely i will be out of too many low end box offerings, but i enjoyed the thrills so far.

Follow me @cripperz on twitter. =) cheers!
