DDoS-Sentry - OpenVZ VPS with DDoS-protection starting at $1.50/month for 128MB in France

Even though we usually do not intervene much on offers, this one seems to come from an owner that’s clearly shilling and being insulting towards their customers. We do not appreciate this and have therefore removed all the links to their site from this post and would like to ask people to usher extreme caution when dealing with this company.

DDoS-Sentry-Portal_Home_-_DDoS-Sentry_-_2014-10-06_19.13.49Johannes, from DDoS-Sentry, has sent in three exclusive DDoS-protected servers hosted with OVH in Roubaix, France. Due to the age of DDoS-Sentry the last plan was not listed with the annual price.

DDoS-Sentry was started about 8 months ago. Their goal is to offer a cheap but good DDoS-protected service. For these plans they utilize servers from the OVH enterprise line and not one of their budget plans. This means you get to benefit from the OVH Anti-DDoS PRO which has some small benefits over the normal version. While DDoS-Sentry are using SolusVM right now, they do plan on coming up with an integrated solution inside their billing panel. This plan would include some tools to use some of the more advanced firewall and Anti-DDoS tools OVH offers. Host nodes have an Intel Xeon E5-1620v2 or better, 64 to 128GB of RAM, 2x 2TB SATA drives in hardware RAID1, and 1Gbps uplinks. As with all new hosts, please be cautious especially when they have no SSL on their client area or a very good website…  Also, feel free to share your opinions with us here!

Payment methods accepted are PayPal and Bitcoins. Their WHOIS information is public. DDoS-Sentry does not provide any refunds, though they do offer a pro-rated account credit refund if you no longer wish to use a VPS. Please read their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before you order!

  2. Test IP has an abuse contact from ixam-hosting.com.

Weren’t they banned here for advertising to kiddies on HF?

Johannes seems to be affiliated with both ixam-hosting & ddos-sentry.

If it has anything to do with ixam-hosting.com, steer far far away, because instead of ddos protection you’ll get more ddos from the owner himself after you ditch his trash hosting.

Bought the ‘Sentry II’ like 9 hours ago and it still hasn’t been deployed. I’m still somewhat skeptical about quality of their service looking at the first five search results, but will see how it goes after 24 hours, which seems to be their setup time.

On the other hand, I’ve ran into some issue with a PayPal payment and received an answer literally 3 minutes right after I’ve created the ticket. Solved the whole issue within 10 minutes.

When i initially ordered my package wasn’t setup instantly, they had told me they ran out of IP’s but had a customer who just terminated his service with the company and gave the IP to me. Support literally answered within 2 minutes of me opening the ticket, i am very happy with the support.

I looked at the initial post and the thread is inactive and the user is banned, somebody made the first reply today after a couple months. Wouldn’t consider it a HackForums host lol.

      • Can you please stop defending the indefensible?

Ixam-Hosting, which looks like a brand from the same owner is pretty active in HackForums:

Good luck to anyone buying this crap. Is not like a VPS for $5/year is sustainable at OVH.

Just because it is posted on Hack Forums or if the owner is whoever, it doesn’t mean the quality of the service is bad. You don’t need to be smart to know that, you don’t even know for CERTAIN if it is 100% true what your saying so how about you stop talking shit about something unless you know the facts.

          • Being advertised to kiddies who love to DDoS others, is a problem for sure.

Ixam-Hosting and DDoS-Sentry are related as you can check with a simple whois.

Let’s see how long takes them to bite the dust.

They also hosted that skid website with the kid who wanted to be cool so he decoded WHMCS and “revealed” how “incredible hacker skills” to all of us by pointing out simple PHP mistakes. They hosted it quite proudly, mind you.

I was speaking with the owner and he said that they had just received an extra 128 IP’s and are setting up all services now.

Do not fall for this crap, I’ve got my processes killed for no apparent reason, he clearly over sells or runs scripts to kills processes, asked to cancel and refund the service few hours later because the vps is useless.
    Thats his response: http://prntscr.com/4u8uxs
The kid which advertises on hack forums obviously over sells his crap.
So I am going now through a paypal claim since hes extremely stubborn.

I was speaking with the Owner and he said you were trying to run a cod gameserver on 128mb of ram, are you actually retarded?

      October 9, 2014 @ 12:17 pm | Reply
      • Dejan:

Thanks for the insult, no I am not actually retarded, the server in question is a private cod2 server with roughly 60MB usage, the server peaks high CPU usage for a few seconds on starting, and the rest uses roughly 10%-20%, I run another server flawlessly with another provider with same vps specifications, so please next time before you jump in acting smart do your research.

The owner was discussing a client’s details with an unaffiliated 3rd party?

Well if you would like to show how rude you were on the rest of the ticket i don’t think what you just said is entirely true. He was claiming that we auto terminated processes which i told him we didn’t and he instantly became rude claiming our company was newbs etc, he closed his account so i can’t show screenshots of the original tickets but this guy is EXTREMELY rude and doesn’t know much.

    October 9, 2014 @ 1:33 am | Reply
    • Dejan:

I admit being rude, but not really to the extremes, and that has also occured later as you were EXTREMELY stubborn to the subject. Your node configuration is bad and you wont admit it, as you have admitted you are killing abusive CPU processes, try to set it not to kill a process as soon as it reaches the set threshold but instead to kill it if its its abusive for few minutes. I got the refund, and good luck with your “business”, I’ll just recommend to others stay away.

I don’t know why every body is saying this host is bad, i ordered a VPS and it took a day to arrive due to the shortage on IP’s but when i did it was fast and i’ve been having no problems hosting my proxy server on it. Vouch this.
