LowEndBox - Cheap VPS, Hosting and Dedicated Server Deals

DMEHosting - $5.95 OpenVZ VPS with 256MB

DMEHosting Via this WHT offer. DMEHosting has been featured here a couple of times and last time it was July last year. Since then not much has been changed. I am still seeing them advertising on WHT every week. Their low end package was of pretty good value last year and it is still pretty good for this year’s standard. For $5.95/month you get

  • 256MB guaranteed/512MB burstable memory
  • 25GB storage
  • 1000GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/HyperVM

DMEHosting does offer many location choices though, which you can pick and choose when you are in the ordering page. These are

  • Seattle WA (with spectrumnet.us)
  • Denver CO (with fdcservers.net)
  • Chicago IL (with fdcservers.net)
  • Scranton PA (with hostnoc.net)
  • Roubaix France (with OVH)

DMEHosting has been in business for quite a few years and have been offering low end packages that were featured here since at least Feb 2009 — so I presume they know what they are doing to make it a profitable business. Don’t forget the promo code 50OFFVPS to get 50% off in your first month.

  1. I was initially attracted to DME because of low-priced windows VPS. The price for 256mb is around $16 a month which is very cheap. And my current vps with DME hosting and their main site is down for me is anyone elseโ€™s offline or is it just me?

Don’t ever think of buying this host, they oversell everything that can be oversold and they even admit it.

  3. “Recovery Data”: Our website hasn’t been offline for a very long time.

Tom: What on earth are you talking about? None of our servers are overloaded. Yes we “oversell” since we have a lot of unused resources, but 100% of every other openvz host does this as well. If they tell you otherwise then they are lying to you. At least we are being transparent. Our clients can expect to use all the resources we give them, we have the server resources to ensure that. Not sure why you would write something such as that when you obviously don’t know the industry practice.

This is because your IP needed to be pinged, once that was done you were able to connect. You also complimented us on our support, but write a negative publicity here…?

  8. @DME — I don’t see Jack’s comment as negative?! I don’t see a sense of “opinion” in his comment. He is just stating the fact and experience he got. He got the system set up overnight, he experienced network did not work so have to work over out-of-band app.

  9. @DMEHosting – Sorry you have taken my comment to offence. I was a little confused as to why it wasn’t working.

    DMEHosting provided excellent support though.

Hmm – Guess DME is not for me. Clearly, if they are getting into a blast about a customer’s right to state their experience, this is not the solution I am looking for.

  11. They are scammer, my VPS has been suspended with no reason, online chat with no replies. Waiting the money bank from them, wait… wait… wait…
Dmehosting scammer, dmehosting is scammer, dmehosting is bad service. Don’t buy anything from them.

Technically, this vendor has provided good service.

Servers in Denver and Chicago are hosted on Comcast co-lo facilities, providing great access to that eyeball network, while a bit higher than usual latency to other networks (a Comcast issue).

We have had billing problems. Payments made with PayPal have not been credited, leading to automatic server shutdowns with the cost to us being greater than the value of the service.
