DotVPS were founded in the mid period of 2011 and have been featured three times on LowEndBox. DotVPS were last featured on LowEndBox in October when their thread was marred by old mistakes. A couple of customers wrote short reviews, with one person telling us about his “great experience” while another customer complained of “slow speeds“. Jack is very active on our sister site LowEndTalk – he has around 4500 posts! As ever, we would love to hear about your experience with DotVPS if you’ve been a customer.

“LimeStoneNetworks” have a bit of a history with LowEndBox… read for yourself. DotVPS have a “VPS FAQ” page which you may find helpful. Jack informs us that additional IPv4 address can be purchased for $2.50/Month. IRC and adult content is allowed. VPN/Proxies are only allowed if it’s for private use but Tor is strictly prohibited. No All our Plans include 1 IPv4 and 5 IPv6 in the UK. I can see Limestone getting the IPv6 first following Colocrossing sometime in the next 3 months.

Hi! Is there any chance of getting an Ubuntu 12.04 template set up? (It’s not listed here at the time of writing: https://dotvps.co/virtual-servers.php). All of the Ubuntu versions there are unsupported now, I think.

    Cheers!

    • Kame:

In the actual control panel there is an Ubuntu 12.04 template. Unfortunately because of the kernel that OpenVZ is using on the server if you want to actually do much with it you’re going to have to compile your own version of libc (the version that comes with Ubuntu 12.04 requires a newer kernel than the OpenVZ is running)

Also, Ubuntu 10.04 server version will be supported until April 2015.

But agreed, is there any plans to upgrade the OpenVZ kernel at some point?

I cancel the vps and request a refund they dont refund me, i request again the vps if the refund was not possible they said they cannot revoke.
    I DONT RECOMMEND IT!

    April 6, 2013 @ 2:21 pm | Reply
    • Where did I ever state that you would get an IP that hadn’t had CPanel used on it before?

You cancelled the VPS… Our TOS states no refunds on Virtual servers and Yes you cancelled it due to “ip was already using the trial license”.

I don’t recommend any other provider to take you on as a client.

      April 6, 2013 @ 2:23 pm | Reply
    • You should probably have checked their refund policy before purchasing one. How is a provider supposed to know what ips have been used for cpanel? As for extra ips etc, guess some providers are more restrictive than others regarding these. Our maybe it’s the UK location.

        April 6, 2013 @ 3:45 pm | Reply
        • But it’s not something we state? Where on the site/offer do you see ‘Our IPs have never been used with CPanel before’ ??

          April 6, 2013 @ 3:51 pm | Reply
      • Hmm..I’ve never had to change ips before, so not sure how a price usually reacts to such requests, or the difficulty involved in doing so. I suppose though that it could have been possible to reissue a vps considering you’ve already paid for it. Maybe they do have good reasons for it. But the usual norm while cancelling a vps it’s that they stop invoice generation, and the actual service is terminated only at next billing date. At least that’s been my experience with myrsk, servermania and bluevm.

“I installed whm cpanel trial license but seems to be for this ip the trial license was used, is there any way to get another ip which is not used a trial license please…”

I could write a 4 paragraph reply but what would be the point? It would take me not only longer for me to respond to you but longer for you to read.

I see no need in creating a wall of text for something which I could reply with a single word, We don’t allow you to simply change IPs for ‘CPanel already been used’ if you were having issues due to our networking side of things and a particular IP was having packetloss or something fair enough. But I don’t see “Oh I can’t afford the $13/mo fee for CPanel” a Valid reason at all.

          April 6, 2013 @ 4:01 pm | Reply
        • Ah, the ip issue is only for a trial license of cpanel? Can’t say they’re unfair about denying it. I suppose with these kinds of low cost vps offers they’d be getting hundreds of customers trialling cpanel. To be fair to the provider, it’s quite probable that a good number of their ips have already had cpanel trials. I suppose if it were a limitation for cpanel monthly pack, you’d have more support from then. Honestly, I’ve never installed cpanel for my vps, having preferred the open source imscp.

    • User is just mad he can no longer attack our website, The user was suspended for sending an attack from his VPS, he then contacted us about it saying he didn’t, when we looked into it fair enough the last login was different to all the others so we lifted the suspension after this another attack was launched from his VPS so we terminated him. Ever since this user has been launching attacks against our webserver.
