eNetSouth - $6.95 512MB OpenVZ VPS in Chicago

Updated December 2011 — Both eNetSouth.com and eNSCloud.com stopped resolving since 11 November 2011. It has been confirmed that Brandon has done a runner.

eNetSouth Brandon and his team from eNetSouth Cloud has recently launched/relaunched eNetSouth Hosting selling OpenVZ VPS with automated provisioning. The eNSCloud is still targeted at more premium VMWare users (who are fine waiting up to 24 hours for servers to setup). eNS Hosting however, runs the stock standard WHMCS/SolusVM/OpenVZ stack. They have LowEndBox specials, with “LEBeVZ512” at $6.95/month. Direct sign up link here.

  • 512MB guaranteed/640MB burstable memory (Updated)
  • 20GB storage
  • 1500GB/month data transfer
  • OpenVZ/SolusVM

Servers are in Chicago with ColoCrossing, i.e. in the same space as ChicagoVPS. “Enterprise Network South” has been around for 2 years now, and do check past posts on eNSCloud on their reviews.

Disclaimer: eNetSouth is currently sponsoring a VMWare VPS that runs our community site, LowEndTalk.com.

    • You need to check in PayPal for this transaction ID: 7R075128XY579672G that is the refund. No one refused a refund to you. I do want to explain to everyone we did this even after the customer chose one datacenter at setup and we were in the middle of setting that one up when he changes his mind on the datacenter. So we delete that one and start in the new DC – Then he changes his mind on the OS. Then he cancels. Then wants a refund. Most companies I think would have refused for their trouble and inability for you to stand on a decision. Also, to further prove my point; eNScloud — the service you chose does not use WHMCS so there is no way we could have deleted you from it. So please — find your refund is in order and take care.

Brandon, maybe you should spend more time resolving tickets and less time writing replies to each and every comment on LEB? Hmm? What do you think? Does this sounds like a good idea? ;)

Or fix your admin panel; or learn how to do provisioning and invoicing correctly; or how to enable vsphere/vecnter for everyone without them submitting tickets; or close accounts on request; or keep your VPSes up (I lost track of how many times you were down last month, remind us was it 3, 4 or 5?) or in general support your customers the way everyone else does.

It seems, that only way to make you do something is posting a ticket number on LEB.

“But I digress”. No one will trust an anonymous coward, right? ;) You don’t have anything to worry about. Unless there were some kind of comments thread somewhere, with endlesssssssss stream of complains and support requests, something like this I guess:

Ups. Sorry. It’s bad for business to post links like this under your current offer, right? :) Again, sorry, it won’t happen again.

not funny, I have 7 servers not reachable from April 12, now April 21, they still down. All my experience with this company close to the “junk” service, need at least a few days, not hours to force to do something. Last request for Windows OS takes 2 weeks since initial request. It looks like a one guy garage service. If someone wish a couple weeks to wait to get it done that would be awesome for him, Otherwise do not even try to deal with this service, putting something important.

Too much hate on this thread – have to add my two cents. I’ve been a VMware customer of theirs since they ran their special here on LEB back in October and have been very pleased with the service – both on the network side as well as the customer service side. I should add that I run personal email and web on my VPS so I am pretty sensitive to downtime. Brandon always responds to email quickly and he has always done everything in his power to resolve the issue. There have been a number of hicups along the way, but they were always dealt with pretty quickly. I don’t know about their new OpenVZ offering, but I am sure Brandon will take care of you.

    • Vicky:

This service deserves all the hatred. If Brandon replies to you “quickly” then I guess there are two different Brandons in Enscloud :) and clients are divided between them. The good Brandon keeps his clients happy and the bad Brandon doesn’t give a damn about his :)

I also have a VPS with him since Jan 11 and even if I ignore the persistent service hiccups (remember.. in a “cloud”) in past couple of months, begging for customer service and still not getting it (it does not exist in bad Brandon’s bad ensCloud :) ) is what makes me hate them much more than how hate Rackvm and other losers.

      • Looking back at signups on 1-11-11 .. One of them did not renew on 2-11, the other is a Windows HyperV customer.. One of them I know is not you and the rest have requested no support. So yet again you have cowarded out and told a lie. Since you have stated service hiccups that would put you after the 19th when that specal ran because between the 11th and that offering is when we put servers in at the DC where we had so many issues out of. I know your not a long term San Jose customers because we started doing business with them in October of 2010. Up till last weekend do you know how many minutes of downtime there have been there? 0.

Our primary servers with ColoCrossing.. The ones we have had coming up on a year next month. How many times have there been a unscheduled outage there? 1. And that was problem with nLayer. Not us, not the server.

All of the customers that signed up with us with our expansion in to the other DC… Too many to count.

But the moral of the story is — it’s no longer a issue. We had a bad run — we handled it. You are not who you say your are. I think I know who you are.. Your a little pissed off that I kicked you out because you would not keep from trying to start drama then just like you are now.

I read your post about Karma.. You want to talk about Karma? See my middle finger? Karma on that one.

        Coward.

You DEFINITELY don’t know who I am and I DEFINITELY don’t want you to know who I am. A service provider who has the guts to show middle finger to a client deserves all this glory on LEB whether on not you would want to advertise here anymore. Instead of burning into flames it will be wise for you to get your act together and mend your ship so that the existing ones who haven’t jumped yet don’t drown. As someone said above “how do you get away with treating people like that?”

I signed up with eNetSouth a few months ago. Everything was fine for a while. My VPS went down once and was restored a few hours after I opened a support ticket. – Not great response time, but not horrible either.

Unfortunately my VPS went down again on April 2nd and has been down since then. I’ve had a support ticket open since the evening of April 2nd, but have gotten absolutely no response from eNetSouth.

Ignoring a down system for 8 days just isn’t acceptable, even for a cheap “low end” box.

    April 10, 2011 @ 7:10 am | Reply
    • @Baba – The ticket you opened was also during the outage last weekend in San Jose. We sent out a mass response to reply to the tickets created during that time. Let’s fast forward to around 2:00 AM this morning when you commented on the ticket. Within 10 minutes of your comment we “hit enter” on the boot selection on the GRUB menu and the server is good to go. Yes, your server being down for 8 days is not acceptable but why did you not say anything in the past 8 days? Everyone was down last weekend in SJC — not just you.

      April 10, 2011 @ 8:16 pm | Reply
      • You have no idea how bad this upsets me. There is no need in all of you doing nothing but unrealistic 24/7.. Yes we knew your server was down EVERYONE was down.

Yes, it was down 8 days but it’s not our issue that you never said anything until the 8th day when you knew that DC was DOWN last weekend. We cant go through and inspect everyone’s consoles.

        The hardcore FACTS:
In less than 12 minutes of your response on the ticket we responded. In less than 6 minutes later you had a resolution.

If you had not jacked up your grub.conf then it would have auto started like everyone else and worked.

You need to clear this up and let everyone in here know — I dont know if you posted this before your ticket last night or what but I’m sick of the press out of you all. We are done with VMware offers to lowendbox readers.

When not 1, 2 or 3 but more people are shouting out load bad about your service, it is time for you Mr. Brandon to do a bit of introspection instead of brushing aside all the complaints. I fail to see anyone complaining on this blog about QuickWeb or Ramhost. They too are budget hosts and offer similar bang for buck. No doubt you have admirers on LEB, those who have been “lucky”. And at the same time some seriously pissed of people (including me). If you had carefully read the bad things written about your service in this post and all adverts before it, you would have easily made out that whether they are paying you 1 or 100 bucks pm, people don’t like being ignored for days and weeks. You really should take some HR management lessons. And Daniel when you have upset a few, you can’t save yourself from getting upset. Good karma, bad karma all returns back to you :)

I understand Daniel that it will be equally bad trying to upset someone intensionally. But I don’t understand how you can call ignoring client queries and problems as mistakes. ENS’s OpenVZ hasn’t even picked up much yet. The issues being posted are related to VMWare platform only. Besides I feel this was a utterly bad choice of time for launching a new service. There are MUCH better OpenVZ hosts out there and Brandon should have focussed on improving his VMWare service which is what makes ENS different from others. But its his business and business plans so I won’t be bothering the guy on LEB anymore. I am done with ENS anyways. Wishing all the best to current “happy” ENS users and the future ones. sayonara

And if a proof is required, I will provide it to LEA like its done on WHT (to moderators). If you like to be on cloud 9 seeing praises on LEB about your good work, you should sportingly take the criticism too for the not so good work.

So it’s ok for a previous customer that I tried to handle things with can sit here and say all of the things he has and I just have to take it? If that is how it works I don’t want any part of it. I know the entire song and dance. I screw up, customer gets mad, I admit fault, I fix the issue with the customer, give them a credit for when they had a issue and move forward.

This was not a option with this person.

I made no effort to hide my identity to Brandon by speaking in the same manner and the same problems as my support emails because I obviously wanted to get my problem fixed. But as you can see here, that was a mistake.

I got a 512MB VMware instance with node failover capabilities for $5.45/month. Where else could you get something like that anywhere close to that price? I know it’s worth much more than what I’m paying for it, and I can’t blame Brandon for exiting the low-end segment. Thanks for the great deal.

  22. Wow. I wasn’t subscribed to this thread so I missed the explosion. Frankly, I think the amount of speculation, accusation and host-bashing that goes on here is getting out of hand. It’s become “host-roast.com”. That domain is available BTW, so perhaps LEA can register it and move all the trash-talk there.

I think enetSouth provides a damn fine service. Yes they went through a rough patch lately, but they stuck to it and got everything back on track. Good job.

Brandon is a dedicated guy and puts in a ton of hours making stuff work and keeping people happy. It must be frustrating as hell to have that effort rewarded by the crap that’s gone on here.

To anyone considering enetSouth, don’t let this thread influence you. Give ’em a try. You’ll be happy you did.

I ordered a server yesterday 2048M. I did not get any login info for the server. I eventually found it in the client’s billing area. However, I logged in finding that my server hasn’t been activated yet, which is a disappointment because here’s what they said: Instant Setup – No waiting for your server to be provisioned!

Please look at my ticket: #539594

    • @solprower – In the past I used to get frustrated at these kind of posts. Now I just chock it up the cost of doing business. But since you posted this we at least have to defend it so that people looking do not get the wrong idea.

You opened #539594 yesterday @ 22:05 .. We replied at 23:03 .. 2 minutes shy of a hour and provided you what you wanted.

Sometime in between then and there you changed your password in SolusVM and then you blacklisted yourself trying to login with the old one.. For almost two hours last night I helped you with things that were way outside the realm of what we provide..

I know you posted this after you opened the ticket but there just was no need for it.

Sorry for that, but my users are getting frustrated at me for not getting the server up. That’s why I kinda need to get my server up as fast as I can.

Please look at ticket #484821. It’s asking for a refund.

    • Why? I’m not trying to be disrespectful here but in the ticket you state:

      09/06/2011 17:29
May I please have a refund? The VPS is not suited for the server I'm trying to host. Sorry! Please reply to this ticket or email REMOVED once you gave me my refund.

      Thanks!

Explain how the VPS is not suitable? It is a new node .. Only 4 users are on it currently.

Did we provide you with the service that you paid for? Did we support you? I don’t see how your purchase being made without knowing if your application was suitable for VPS after we provide you a top notch service constitutes for a refund? And then post it publicly like you would have to do something to get us to refund you?

Am I wrong? If I am then please explain to me where I am having a hard time understanding. Again, *I feel* there is just no need in doing this.

I’m trying to host a Minecraft server. Even if I did ordered a 2GB vps I am still only able to put 1580M of RAM into my server. The lag seems the same as the other VPS I tried. Maybe its just because I am only have been able to put 1580M yet still use 2GB ram. I don’t know, it may just be my setting of my files.

If you can solve my problem with the RAM accumulation then that would be grateful. If you can’t, then can you please put a refund? I only want to host a minecraft server.

You’re trying to run minecraft on a budget openvz vps and you think the host is the one that’s wrong?

          Really?

        • I can assure you nothing is wrong with the node:

When you say lag you mean in game lag or IP latency? I’ve read where Minecraft and OpenVZ need some tuning. I can try and find that for you. If it does not work for the best then I will move you over to VMware. I’ve got a lot of game server folks in San Jose running there.

    • You should have just told us this.. Would have saved you and me both a lot of heartburn. Let me do some research in the Morning and if needed I have some minecraft addicts I host that I’m sure I could entice them to help us if needed. You will hear something from me tomorrow. Well, today in 4 minutes.
