Marc from UK hosting company/Linux specialists, GigaTux, emailed me about their latest insane offer on WHT. With promo code INSANE you can get 50% off life time discount, and when you pay yearly for their Uno L package it comes down to £47.94/Year, and you get
- 128MB memory/128MB swap
- 10GB storage
- 50GB/month data transfer
- Xen
UK data center in “secured location near London”. Slightly more expensive that our last exclusive offer although the storage space has doubled since then. These guys have been around since 2007, and whoever uses ns[1-3].acornusers.org deserve a special mention on LowEndBox.com (although I’ve never owned an Acorn computer :)

LEA (LowEndAdmin) is the original founder of LowEndBox and the visionary who gave rise to an entire movement around minimalist, efficient hosting. In 2008, LEA launched LowEndBox with a simple but powerful idea: that it was possible to run meaningful applications, web servers, VPNs, mail servers, and more – on small, low-cost virtual machines with minimal resources.
At a time when most infrastructure discussions were dominated by high-end servers and enterprise platforms, LEA championed the opposite approach: lightweight Linux distros, self-managed servers, open source software, and thoughtful optimization. This philosophy gave birth to the term “Low End Box”, which would come to define a new genre of hosting tailored to developers, tinkerers, and budget-conscious users around the world.
Through LowEndBox and its companion forum, LowEndTalk, LEA built the foundation for what would become one of the most active and enduring communities in the hosting world, prioritizing knowledge-sharing, transparency, and accessibility.
After several years of nurturing the site and community, LEA stepped away from active involvement, passing the torch to a new generation of admins, contributors, and moderators. Today, LEA remains a respected figure in the LowEnd ecosystem, credited with launching a platform and philosophy that continues to influence thousands of infrastructure providers and users globally.
LowEndBox’s legacy, and its thriving community, is a direct result of LEA’s original vision.
There website is a little old fashion!
As long as it works I don’t mind how flashy it is. :)
I used a GigaTux VPS a little while ago and didn’t have any problems. I especially liked all of the Turnkey Linux images they supply – good for just “messing about”.
There’s a note on their site about double hard drive space until the end of August, 2010:

Looks like you need a code though so it;s a trade off which ever one you want.
Really good design btw…
Certainly sounds like people either love or hate the design. Either way, we hoped to be a bit different!
@drmike Yup, you need to choose one of those offers – can’t have both I’m afraid!
Oh, and yes, we haven’t gotten round to shifting to our own nameservers ns[1-3].gigatux.com quite yet! I haven’t used my Acorn for a while, but boy was it ahead of its time back in the day.
GigaTux good vps hosting
I’ve used GigaTux VPS’s and found the service to be really good value for money. You get exactly what is advertised and what you pay for. The servers are maintained well and replies are always polite and quick. Had a good experience overall.
